This Odeon is quite large with 9 screens, all of which have disabled access. It shows all the latest films, with times and availabilty on their website, where you can also book your tickets to avoid disappointment. Upstairs theres a small ice cream bar also serving coffee etc, and place where you can buy sweets, crisps, popcorn, and a small variety of hot food, and also soft drinks. The screens are clean and spacious, with nice big comfy chairs. The only thing i dislike about the Odeon is its prices, although cinemas these days are so expensive, so maybe its the norm to be paying £8.50. Students can get a discount with a valid student card, and OAPs and under 15 tickets are also cheaper. If paying by card i'm pretty sure they have a small charge for each ticket, about 70p ish. All in all a good night out, easy to get to with regular buses from Tunbridge Wells train station, and places to go afterwards in the rest of the complex

The understanding landlord let them decorate the walls, fireplaces, armoires, you name it. The volunteer docents are a wealth of knowledge--including tidbits about the sex lives of these bohemian intellectuals. There's also a wonderful English garden in the back. We even found the onsite café delightful. You won't be disappointed if you visit.

It takes a good half a day to enjoy everything there is to see at Charleston and in the busy weekend days, it can be a bit tricky getting people inside the rooms but there's plenty more to see around the estate if certain rooms are full. The place does offer special activities for children, and for families with smaller fry it might be worth a visit. Not suitable for disabled people! If you do visit, make sure to drop by at the adjacent Ypres Castle Inn, a pub that offers a good selection of ales, solid food and a great view from the outside seating area.

This attractive 18th century house in the heart of historic Rye was home at different times to the…read morenovelists Henry James and E F Benson. It is now in the care of the National Trust. The house is largely restored to how it would have been when James lived there, and most of the exhibits focus on his tenure and the myriad of fascinating visitors he received. Three ground floor rooms are open to the public, as well as the surprisingly large town garden, complete with James's favourite mulberry tree. Alas, the garden room in which he did much of his writing was destroyed by an enemy bomb in World War II. Practicalities The house is a short walk from the church, or a short but very steep walk up from the quayside. Accessibility is somewhat limited: some of the streets around are heavily cobbled with pebbles; there are 3 large steps up into the house, as well as no lavatory on site; the garden has gravel paths; and the rooms are also fairly small, and heavily furnished.

The entrance fee of £7 for an adult is not cheap, however you can happily spend the day. There is a small railway, a playpark, peacocks wandering through the grounds, pigs and of course the motor museum, showing many unusual motor vehicles and providing the history behind many of it's exhibits. The cafe is cheap and provides a good selection of hot and cold snacks, alternatively take a picnic. A great day out and good value for money.

Eastbourne Borough are a cute little team in the Conference South, 2 tiers below the actual footy…read moreleague. Their tiny cute stadium only holds 4k. They're the biggest team in town though. What is not cute is the region. Eastbourne is one of the prettiest places you'll see... close to the Seven Sisters and absolutely lovely on the south coast of England. For that reason above all others, I wish this team luck as well as the two other teams in this area. First-Hand Experience: Steven and I went to all the South Coast stadiums and we saw Eastbourne play live in a local derby. It was great, but the team was nothing out of the ordinary and crowd not too large or loud, so they score 3. This was back in 2007. They have a sandcastle (I think) in their logo, play in red, and that's about it.

We spoke to some of the staff, and they said that the owners knocked down part of the old house to make it look like a ruined castle (after they had built a new house of course.) I don't really approve of the idea of being so rich that you can knock down a beautiful 16th century building to make a sort of 'folly' for your garden...but I have to admit the effect is very picturesque.

Like many National Trust properties, Scotney Castle and Gardens are incomparably beautiful and…read moreinspiring. Scotney Castle takes these traits to the next level. On arrival at a small turnstile gate, you'll see the large Victorian 'new Castle' to your left. Entry to this is now possible and it is worth the trip, if only to see why it was built there as a replacement for the neo-classical Jacobean castle-house on the lake (of which more later). The views inspire awe. The interiors show the quality of the panel carvings that once adorned the house on the lake, now re-interpreted in the Victorian house, along with Regency and 20th Century touches - a mix that works and makes the place a real home and more than a 'museum-house'. The gardens are magical at any time of year, the situation is not unlike a 'combe' in Devon or Cornwall say. A long valley snakes down towards water (in this case a lake and a river). With grassland and heath at the summit, the trees gradually take hold as you descend, providing shelter for exquisite rock gardens, formal plantings and winding walks through shaded glades. Then, as you round a turn, you see it - the castle on the lake in all it's glory! The fairytale qualities of Scotney are myriad. The surviving medieval castle turret, it was one of four, towers to one side with an Edwardian 'lantern' at its summit. To its left rambles a 16th century house with later additions, circling a courtyard surrounded by moated low walls. Through an arch (formerly the front door) and you are into what would have been the grand reception hall of the Jacobean neo-classical extension (now a picturesque 'ruin' open to the sky). Through the other side and you'll find yourself on a grassy terrace which once contained formal par-terre gardens. Turn 360 degrees and marvel at the views! On the way back, as you leave via the car park, you will find the walled garden. Long abandoned it is gradually being recovered and provides a cafe at one end for drinks and light snacks. A delighful afternoon's treat for all the family.
