It tasted fresh and was marinated well. EGG SOUP I love egg so this was perfect. It was still soft and not overly cooked and dry. It stays hot and gradually cooks itself. I like the sweet flavors and it went well with the meats. PA JEON- squid and shallot pancake Not my favorite, but it was okay. The shallots were overpowering, but the sauce added some ctirus and savory flavors. It helped to balance out that sweet seafood flavor and shallots. FRESH PORK BELLY I would've preferred fattier pork, but I guess this was okay. Not very flavorful, but was porky enough to pass. We ordered a variety of beefs and they were okay-ish. Some were more chewy and tough than others and some were tender. Overall the meat plate was okay, nothing spectacular. No flavor to them for the most part and could've used some marinating or some seasoning. First time trying korean bbq in australia and it was okay. I've had better quality meats and side dishes.

I didn't follow up on the critique (made by a friend) and in fact forgot about the restaurant altogether. It wasn't until my partner and I happened to be walking around Darlinghurst around dinner time at a later date that I remembered about the comment (which would surely put a black mark on any restaurant's name). And yet, it was delightful. We were the first ones there - so early in fact that we lingered outside like miscreants while the staff were eating their dinner - and avoided the stools altogether, and instead sat at the two person table further toward the kitchen. We ordered the Beijing Dumplings (lamb and vegetarian), the steamed vegetarian buns, hainan chicken rice and the nyonya chicken and potato curry with two pots of brown rice. Mostly everything was outstanding. The only thing that didn't surpass our expectations wildly was the Hainan chicken rice. The rest was so incredibly good that we've gone back twice since (take-away). The staff were also incredibly accommodating and take note that they have a vegetarian menu as well as a Coeliac one. As for those infamous stools, on our last visit there to pick up our take-away we saw Hugo Weaving sitting on one of them at the far end of the communal table eating his dinner. The Beef Tenderloin Fillet Fry ($20) is tasty but the Mixed Asian Greens ($10) is uninspiring. The menu is a little pricier than you would find elsewhere and you may find yourself leaving still relatively hungry. But if you order more (like I usually do) or come on a night when you are not incredibly hungry to begin with, then the quality of food should impress you. The restaurant is BYO and also has a coeliac friendly gluten-free menu and options for kids. The only issue I have with this place is the menu layout. I think it would be more successful if the dishes had a bit more description in terms of the sauces rather than just the main ingredient.

The stir fried noodles tasted like they had been cooked well at one point, but then frozen, reheated, and rinsed with water to remove any potential flavor that once existed. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty when we arrived, we were seated right in between two other occupied tables, which made it feel like we were all at one big dinner together instead of on our own separate date nights. The people working were very nice - just wish the food was better! This meal was one of our first meals in Sydney and made us really worried that all of our meals here would be overpriced and tasteless - thankfully, there are better options out there.

Portions were decent sized. They do have some pricing quirks to be aware of: There is a minimum spend per person and I believe it varies with party size. They charge a 10% surcharge on Sundays. Not sure if this standard in other restaurants but I doubt it. I'm mentioning it so diners on Sunday are aware. I liked the food enough that I just chalked it up to a vacation u expected expense. The restaurant is large with decor from mainland China. Cultural and historical pieces gave an enjoyable ambiance. Chefs can be seen working at their stations in the kitchen through large windows separating the dining area. The station for the hand made noodles drew the most attention especially the pulling. They make it look so easy. It certainly enhances the dining experience. Dishes are meticulously crafted with color and aesthetics to appeal to all senses. The decor, traditions and flavors of China were balanced in harmony. It is a mystical journey worth the journey. Small sharing dishes, main sharing dishes and roti selections include quality ingredients of wagyu beef, lobster, lamb, pork, shrimps and other beefs. The menu is amazing and wonderful to look at. I wanted to try everything wishing i had 3 stomachs to fill. Water was brought to our table in a large cola type bottle. It went down fast. while waiting for the food. I was trying to flag down someone to get more. Couldn't see our waitress. It took awhile but finally got it. Sheesh. Same thing happened with the check. I was flagging anyone who looked my way.
