Another fabulous year enjoying the Clearwater Festival! Arrived with some friends around 3pm on…read moreSaturday and took the shuttle from the train station which was a lot less painless than I expected. Checking in to get our tickets was just as fast. We each had two smoothies a person bc they were slamming over at the food truck area. Enjoyed the music, the vendors, talking to activists, getting some cool henna and just being one with nature and folksy people in the warm sun. I'll be back next year Pete :)

Amazing festival!!! I had two weekend passes so I took a friend and went both days (didn't camp)…read more Parking is relatively easy-- first day I parked on site at 10 AM, still many spots left. $10. Getting out was easy. Second day parked at the Croton Metro North station, $5, took the free shuttle (which was a school bus, THROWBACK) that cost an extra ~15 minutes or so. Both were smooth! The festival itself did a great job this year in particular with a huge diverse line-up of artists. My favorite was Margaret Glaspy and River Whyless. We stayed by the Hudson stage both days because it was too picturesque not to--ambient music by the clear waters and sky. The festival isn't too big where it's overwhelming but not too small that you run out of things to do. Very very user friendly, especially since there are many senior folks at this event. By far one of the most accommodating events I have ever been to, spanning from food, waste, directions, and vision of the event.

Most of my travel related to work is into this area of NY. White Plains is about a 50 min train…read moreride away from Grand Central Station .... the heart/hub of NY and what people envision when they think of the city. First thing about White Plains, I love traveling to the Westchester Airport. So much better than coming in and out of LaGuardia!!! Less traffic and no construction. You literally need to plan a couple hours for that mess ... not here, arrive an hour ahead of time and you'll still have plenty of time. The city itself only has a population of about 60,000. I'd go as far as to say that they definitely have quite a bit going on here for the population level. Plenty of dining and activities. It is definitely an industrial area with plenty of buildings and production going on here, but they have a very nice mall and some pretty amazing places to eat at in the immediate area. If you are looking for a place that can keep you entertained and has you within an hour of the main part of NY .... this isn't a bad spot and in fact I've come to enjoy this area quite a bit.

Day long shopping trips to White Plains have been familiar to me most of my life. We catch up on family talk while going in and out of the stores. Before the mall became a shopping phenomenon I had a better time in White Plains. Over the years White Plains lost its glitter to me. My visits turning into bland uneventful days just trying to enjoy time with family. I could be wrong but I feel this city stopped trying to attract visitors. It's hard to get around without a car. I have no plans to return any time soon. Besides my family stopped inviting me!

So it's perfect when I have a hour to kill before my car is ready. The small businesses here are great to visit. Most, if not all, are family-owned and run. The Cookery is a great farm to table establishment. They have an awesome menu that changes with the season. Harper's Bar and Restaurant is another really good place to eat. They offer dining specials like half-price wine bottles. Cedar Street Grill is so good. I love their happy hour with discounts on their food and drinks but even without the money off their food is really good. After my run and sometimes even after I finish at the gym in Yonkers I take the drive to Raw Juice. Their juices hit the spot! They have super fresh ingredients and they serve up your order quickly. It pays to grab a shot also. Their Wheat Grass shot tastes sooo good. It's sweet. Sweet! New York Bagel Authority serves up some sexy sandwiches, made to order. My go-to is an Everything w/Lox and CC, Onion and Capers. Yaaas. The Dawg House dishes up some interesting gourmet hot dogs. The loyalty card is you friend there so pick one up with your order. Another good visit is Sushi Mike's. Very fresh seafood and awesome specials. The price is definitely suited for Dobbs Ferry but the food is unmistakably good and staff is very attentive. We've visited Cedar Smoke which is a nice smoke shop with every vape that you would want. There are a few boutiques with unique fashion options. I really love this sleepy village. It's so quiet yet fulfilling. Sounds stupid but you really want for nothing when you stop by.
