So it's perfect when I have a hour to kill before my car is ready. The small businesses here are great to visit. Most, if not all, are family-owned and run. The Cookery is a great farm to table establishment. They have an awesome menu that changes with the season. Harper's Bar and Restaurant is another really good place to eat. They offer dining specials like half-price wine bottles. Cedar Street Grill is so good. I love their happy hour with discounts on their food and drinks but even without the money off their food is really good. After my run and sometimes even after I finish at the gym in Yonkers I take the drive to Raw Juice. Their juices hit the spot! They have super fresh ingredients and they serve up your order quickly. It pays to grab a shot also. Their Wheat Grass shot tastes sooo good. It's sweet. Sweet! New York Bagel Authority serves up some sexy sandwiches, made to order. My go-to is an Everything w/Lox and CC, Onion and Capers. Yaaas. The Dawg House dishes up some interesting gourmet hot dogs. The loyalty card is you friend there so pick one up with your order. Another good visit is Sushi Mike's. Very fresh seafood and awesome specials. The price is definitely suited for Dobbs Ferry but the food is unmistakably good and staff is very attentive. We've visited Cedar Smoke which is a nice smoke shop with every vape that you would want. There are a few boutiques with unique fashion options. I really love this sleepy village. It's so quiet yet fulfilling. Sounds stupid but you really want for nothing when you stop by.

I loved learning about the history of the Kill, how it shaped the development of the town, and it's role in the local watershed as a tributary to the Hudson. It's walkable from Main Street - if you have access to a car I recommend parking in the Visitor Center lot or a municipal one and walking over to the access point which is by the Aquatic Center behind the Visitor Center. The walkway is well maintained; however, I noticed some litter on the side bank areas by the water. Though disheartening this presents an opportunity for local municipal organizations to organize clean up initiatives or consider maintenance to this important water body and presents a reminder to visitors to carry out what out what you bring in.

That's all. Just Thursday. Despite today's Thursday drizzle, we did just that and spent an hour or so wandering around the grounds, chatting with the vendors, enjoying the live music, and everything else you do at a Farmer's Market. It's a good-sized market with plenty of space in its aisles and between booths. We saw a big choice of fruit and vegetable stands, meat, dairy, poultry and seafood vendors, plenty of food vendors, and even a few adult beverage booths. The Parlor pizza and Nit Noi Asian food stations were among the busiest vendors. We stopped at Nit Noi and picked up a frozen bag of shrimp dumplings ($16) and a jar of soy chili oil ($5). PRO TIP The Market is located pretty close to the Saugatuck River, and if you explore the grounds you'll find a footbridge that crosses the river and a walking path that follows the river, So if you gorge yourself on Farmer's Market pizza and ice cream, you can walk it off to some degree.

I appreciate that they've added select Saturday dates recently, as it's helpful for those of us working during their usual Thursday hours. My favorite vendor is Riverbank Farm, which offers delicious produce and prepared foods. I was slightly disappointed to find that their winter prepared foods are currently sold frozen, as it altered the texture and taste a bit. We picked up the classic hummus, a carrot sage hummus, pesto, vegetarian borscht, and carrots. The hummuses took about six hours to defrost at room temperature, while the borscht took a full 24 hours and was still a bit icy on top. Both hummuses were great as per usual; I preferred the flavor profile of the classic, which features garlic scapes, while two family members preferred the carrot sage. The pesto was quite oily, so it paired very well with pasta, though it did congeal once it went back in the fridge and required time to sit out again the next day. Similarly, the regular hummus hardened a bit overnight. The borscht wasn't our favorite, but I think that may have been due to the frozen-and-unfrozen nature of the dish. The carrots were delicious! We also enjoyed a vegetable quesadilla from Boxcar Cantina, which came with pico de gallo and avocado slices. The vegetables were fresh and the flavor was yummy, although it wouldn't be my first choice from their menu. While it had a solid amount of vegetables, I would have preferred more, as the edges were either plain or just cheese. We'll definitely keep coming back!

It reads, "Dedicated to the hardworking men and women of the hatting industry who provided a solid foundation for future generations of The Hat City to prosper." It indicates it was dedicated on June 20, 2016 and was funded by the City of Danbury and Union Savings Bank. The artist is David Boyajiah. Zadoc Benedict developed a method for making felt out of animal furs in the late 18th century, which he then shaped into hats. He established a modest hat-making business here, where other hatters quickly joined him. They produced hats made of wool and silk in addition to felt. The city's industry quickly experienced a boom. Danbury was referred regarded as the "Hat City of the World" from the 1850s to the conclusion of World War II. Unfortunately, the city also developed a reputation for the "Danbury Shakes," a physical and neurological ailment affecting factory workers. Chronic exposure to the mercury used in hat manufacturing was to blame for this. Mercury use in the hatting process was outlawed in 1941 as a result of research done in the 1920s and ferocious union objections.
