The procedure seemed to go well and I returned to my office. Once there I noticed that my back felt wet and, as you can see in the photo, the wound was leaking blood. I called Luciano's office and spoke with a nurse who I told I was back at the office and the wound needed attention. He suggested I get gauze and tape and apply it to the wound. I noted that I couldn't do it myself since the wound is on my back. What was I supposed to do? Strip to the waist and ask a colleague to do it? I then told the nurse I was immediately returning to Luciano's office. When I arrived the Physician's Assistant treated the wound and redressed it. I asked to speak with the doctor but was told he wasn't available and I could speak with the Office Manager. My conversation with her was, to put it mildly, highly unpleasant. I won't be returning to this doctor and I've made arrangements to have the sutures removed by my PCP.

The office is close to my home (less than a 15 minute drive), the doctors had good reviews on my health insurer's website, and the doctor I specifically selected (Dr. Sarah Larkin) had noted in her bio that she likes baseball. I could not be more pleased with my selection. Ongoing health issues can be a sensitive matter but at Renaissance Family Practice I am treated with respect by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. Blood draws and injections have been painless. And most of all, Dr. Larkin has provided me with the guidance, support and encouragement I need to improve my overall health. Dr. Larkin shows a general interest in my life outside her office and we have fun talks about things like the Exploding Kittens card game and my endless vacations. I find myself actually looking forward to my appointments and our conversations.

The waiting time in the office is minimal. They offer something unusual, which is a kind of faith based medicine, but they don't push it on you if you are not comfortable with that (you would need to ask for it). They have been updating their workflow and modernizing their records to become more electronic, and that's been a good thing. I also enjoy the flexibility now that they have 2 offices, one is close to home, the other to work. I have used them for my entire family, but also now as an individual patient, and they excel at both.

She always runs late for appointments (seriously, usually an hour or so). But she is well-worth the wait. She runs late for appointments because she actually spends time listening to you and talking with you. She never rushes you and will spend an hour with you if needed. She will never make you feel rushed. She is proactive on treatment of anything and also a registered nutritionist. She will never say "well, let's see if your leg falls off first before we do something". She knows your history, will take action when needed, and also give you a reality check even if uncomfortable. I am seriously dreading the day when I move away from Pittsburgh and have to find another PCP, because none have ever or will ever be as great as Dr. March. Definitely choose her and don't stress about the wait.
