When I was talking to the shop manager, I mentioned that in addition to the coverup, I wanted to get a koi tattoo at some point. Over the wall, I hear a voice say, "come over here for a second and let me see what you have." I walked over and showed the artist and he immediately said, "why don't we just put a koi over that?" I was amazed that he was able to have the vision to see that something like that would work and immediately knew I had found my artist. That artist is Dirk Spece and he now owns the shop and has done 4 custom pieces for me. (My dragon is shown in the photos on the shops page above) As long as Dirk is tattooing in Bend, or anywhere nearby, all of my work will be done by him. Not only is he an amazing artist, but he is one of the most down to earth people that I have ever met. He is always willing to work with his clients on designs and any ideas that they may have. Gold Standard Tattoo is a great place to get a tattoo. The shop is always clean and inviting and Dirk or one of the others in the shop are always willing to talk to anyone that comes through the door, whether is be for a giant custom piece or just a small bit of script. Dirk treats every tattoo like it is the coolest thing he has done. He has a way of making his clients feel at home and comfortable throughout the entire process. I am very disappointed with the results of the scar camouflage tattooing Donna did on my leg. I originally planned on having more of my scars done, but something told me to start slowly, and I'm so glad I did. My scars were white before the treatment, and unfortunately, they are now much darker and more noticeable. Instead of blending naturally with my skin, the pigment looks like discolored makeup was applied over the scars. The color looks unnatural and actually draws more attention to them than before. I went into this hoping to make my scars less noticeable, but I feel they look worse now. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the results and regret having the procedure done. I can't believe I actually paid for this service. Beware, it doesn't work to camouflage scars no matter what anyone says. Wish I would've considered a different option.

An update on the piercings- a month after I got the conch and upper lobes done, I got 4 piercings…read moredone elsewhere. I had a daith, double helix and 2nd lobe (other ear). The newer piercings are now closing in on two months of healing and I have had ZERO issues with the piercings done at the other studio. The starfire ones? STILL GET INFECTED or at minimum irritation bumps, and they're on the same ear as the newer double helix. This gives me further proof that my aftercare is fine, it's the piercings. Don't go here. Just drive the 30 minutes and save yourself months of oozing piercings.
