I called Dr. Ahner's office to ask him to write an order. The nurse who answered the phone outright refused to issue the order because I hadn't been seen in more than a year. (I had been dealing with a series of family emergencies and the year obviously got away from me.) I told the nurse that I would be happy to come in, if that is what I must do to have an order written. Then, to my utter horror, the nurse said I couldn't come in because there were no available appointments until next year. What kind of doctor and office refuses to provide essential care for an established patient who is undergoing an urgent issue? This is an outrage. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Dr. Calas was recommended to her by her primary care NP. After waiting a month to be seen and then waiting an hour after our arrival to be seen by the doctor, I have to say it was well worth the wait. Dr. Calas introduced himself, mentioning that he has been a neurologist for 30 years. As we proceeded through the appointment, his vast experience and expertise became quite apparent. He began by carefully reviewing my mom's history and asking many important questions. To gain a clearer understanding of her condition, he had her perform a variety of simple tasks. All the while, I was impressed at how he showed her the utmost respect. We appreciated that Dr.Calas took the time to explain her condition in a way that we could really understand. None of her previous neurologists had ever taken the time to be so clear, nor were they as capable in diagnosis. Before we scheduled our next appointment, he adjusted her medications, ordered bloodwork and an MRI. I can honestly say to anyone who is reading this and looking for a good neurologist, you will receive excellent care with Dr. Calas.
