He did not ask why I went back inside. I went back inside because if this monitor thinks I am fleeing in a dead Chevy Equinox I am going back to the place with the applesauce and I am not doing that over a battery. We got the house-arrest thing out of the way immediately. I told him. He nodded like I had said "the AC's been acting up." Zero fear. Zero lecture. Just vibes and a winch. He loaded the Equinox. He did not take it to a field. He did not part it out behind a Whataburger. He drove it to the dealer because that is what he said he would do and then he did it, which in 2026 is basically a miracle and also the legal minimum and I am still grateful.
