This review comes from almost a 15 year member of Sirius XM who has really enjoyed the content and mostly commercial free programing of satellite radio. However, I recently pulled the plug. First of all I do recommend them. They have all types of programing is offered to chose from. Hundred of options at different price levels. Some of my faves are Classic Rewind, Elvis Radio, E Street Radio and 80's on 8. With the app it's no longer just listen in your car, it's listen where ever which is a huge improvement from where they started. After decidIng XM was no longer being utilized as much and no longer in a budget with Apple Music commitment of $16 a month I contacted the disconnect office at 1-866-635-2349. The customer service was fantastic from the woman who tried everything possible to keep me and was professional at all times. We discussed my current annual fee was $104 for a good amount of programming. Nothing lavish and I can't recall what the level was called, but around middle road. She had me on the phone around 20 minutes and at the end gave the the rock bottom price of $4 per month for a one year renewal after confirming all info. That was astonishing. Part of the discount was for customer loyalty. Also a discount for educators, as she learned my wife was an employee at a school. No verification required. This package was for everything XM offered. EVERYTHING including Howard Stern. At the end I still said no thank you and my disconnect was processed and email received to confirm. The representatives was professional at all times and gets a 5 stars from me on how she handled the call. I may come back to XM, but would keep in mind their pricing practices are a bit shady in my opinion. I received basically a 50% discount just by calling. These discounts are tricky. 3.5 rounding down and may see ya again XM. read more

THIS IS HE WORST COMPANY ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!!! Back in December 2023 I was sent an invoice $116.03 for 12 months. I promply sent a check which was cashed a few days later. Shortly after this I started receiving past due notices of varing amounts. I called and was told on several occations the problem would be addressed. I have even had so called managers call me several times to "fix the problem".It was not. They continued sending past due noticed almost every week. They have cut off my service several times. I have sent proof of payment several times and have had to call their HORRIBLE customer servive people at least a dozen times. Currently my sevice has been cut off yet again. Wow ! Folks!.. Be careful if you have to transfer your current Sirus/XM satellite service to another vehicle. Let me start at the beginning... In the middle of my work day I received a call from someone that says they're from my satellite radio. They know about my new car and congratulate me. This operator doesn't know my full address and there is no manager there at my request. He just wants to verify some of my information.. I got really suspicious.. hung up and called the real satellite radio. A very pleasant young lady received my call. She confirms that this individual (that just called me ) was not from satellite radio. I'm grateful I didn't answer any of his questions. That's good because it turned out to be a scam. Now that I was on the phone with the actual satellite radio, I wanted transfer my services to my new vehicle. This is where customer experience falls apart... I was surprised to find that I could not transfer the great deal that I initially had that I had paid in full for for one year!? Instead a prorated credit of about 2/3 of what I initially paid was issued. Then the nice lady tried really really hard to jam the chump non discount price of 30 bucks a month down my throat on the spot. I'm not having it as I was paying 50 bucks for 6 months. And I had already prepaid for a year. Just because I'm calling you to let you know someone tried to scam me in your name... is not the time to try to get me to pay triple price. It took a real battle to get them to offer me 6 months for 50 bucks but they did after 20 minutes of negotiation. But then I have to go through the hassle of canceling before the subscription is up or I'll pay 30 bucks a month which is not happening. I didn't appreciate the poor experience and losing out on my great deal and I no longer enthusiastically recommend satellite radio. Oh I wish I could give less than one star. Irritating to try and work with these jokers. I originally signed up at a deal that was $100 annually. Hard to justify paying much more to listen to the radio. I looked at my bill and the cost had gone up to $29.74 monthly or roughly $360 annually. I don't even pay that much for my basic cable! But then, trying to get them to cancel or explain why there was such an increase is maddening as well. It is an indication of shady practices all along the American business scene, especially those involved in broadcasting or telecasting. Sirius has a long history of providing low and attractive entry package rates and then after that initial period they usually more than the price. On top of that they do it by either continuing the service and then sending an invoice or if you have allowed them to retain your credit card info they simply continue billing (this even happens when your radio goes belly up! you would think they can tell when a radio is not working!) Quite frankly my spouse is the one who likes Sirius, while I can leave it. However he agrees with me on the pricing and supports the choice to leave it. So my recommendation to those who appreciate Sirius, is to stand your ground. Get better pricing. And remember that when you say no - it is not good enough, that after 3 'NOs' they will eventually try to provide better pricing. Best of luck. read more

Customer service is HORRIBLE. I SPENT 30 minutes on the phone to correct a mistake on their part. I cancelled service on both vehicles back in April and they only removed one radio from my account and left it active and continued to auto draft my account. I have had repeated difficulty with this service. They tell me when I am signing up for a year's service that I will receive an email alerting me one or two weeks before it expires. That is a lie. They then charged me the monthly rate which is almost three times the yearly rate without my permission to change the terms of the contract. I had a complaint about some of their programming (Classic Radio) and sent it to the address the moderator, Greg Bell, asks us to do all the time. I used no bad language nor did I attack him personally. His response: "You are an idiot. Go away." This seems to be OK with Sirius/XM as they had no reply to my complaint about abusive customer treatment when I reported it except to try to get me to join some lawyer scheme they push (at $5/month) to debate only legal infractions to customers. Customer service is hit and miss at best. I contacted them to find out why my service wasn't coming through on our second car. Spoke with a girl named Gabby. She did not understand what I was telling her and was reading from a script and then hung up on me because she did not understand what I was trying to tell her and accused me of yelling at her and it just sounded that way because I was talking from the car. she would not let me say anything and told me to quit interrupting but what she was telling me was wrong and I was trying to stop her from going any further. Good radio. Mediocre reception. Lousy customer service First off, now that I see all these other reviews, it's clear that I'm paying a whole lot more than most people and didn't opt for any premium channels. There are a lot of good radio stations. But you can only hear them clearly if it's not raining, you're not under trees or near a hill. Most importantly, you can't cancel. I've had Sirius XM radio for many years. I have always been able to reach Customer Service whenever I had a question. During the years, I was able to listen to music that is not normally on the standard radio. In addition, Sirius XM provides special programming and channels. They do offer a multitude of options which can be confusing when first subscribing so the call with Customer Service may take 15 minutes or so depending on your questions. Steve read more

I loved the programming but not the price. The beginning packages are always good but then you get hit with the regular price. NEVER give them your credit card number. My account was more difficult for them to renew because they couldn't automatically renew it. I always wrote a check. Over the years people I spoke with were all paying different prices. They all had just the car radio service. That's not a good business practice. I'll miss the news stations and oldies but they have gotten too expensive. I've been a Sirius customer for almost 20 years, I joined for all music all the time. It has now become inane jabber with songs in between. I don't need to hear about a couple in Montana or some jazz musicians dog in California. I feel like I'm listening to late 50's and 60's am radio. i really want to like SiriusXM as the quality of streaming is so much better than terrestrial radio and the number of channels is wonderful. however ...their channel line ups are rarely accurate even on their website, so knowing what you will actually get is almost impossible. the radios also lose signal quite often - truly just going under a bridge in urban areas. in addition, the radios themselves lose COMPLETE signals every once in a while, which means you have to re-log-in and your favorites are LOST. you have to go back through the bazillion channels trying to find your favorites and input them. the worst part however is the customer "service" which has been outsourced to overseas. so first you get someone who doesn't speak English well. this in and of itself isn't a huge deal, but they have canned responses that they don't veer from. and you know that what you need isn't what they're saying! when you want to cancel you CANNOT CANCEL online. you MUST CALL IN or use their frustrating chat function (again with non English speakers who do nothing but shove canned responses at you) they KEEP ASKING "are you going to get a new car" "can we move your service" "would you like a discount" types of things... There was a time decades ago before the Internet became popular paying a bill by check was one method....I have had a subscription with SiriusXM Radio since 2016...Once a year paid the full amount by check submitted it to them by mail no problems...Last year SiriusXM submitted the annual bill by email...Paid with a check..I can say "Houston we got a problem."Since the beginning of 2020 SiriusXM and I have been in a dispute over whether my bill has been paid...Not once but twice submitted a copy of the check both front and back along with a letter to support@siriusxm.com..When I first signed up the SiriusXM they sent me an induction letter...Fortunately, I kept the letter...Now pay attention this is valuable information... Awful customer service! Called in the morning with a representative (Ivan) who was going to establish a new service for my new vehicle and gave a favorable quote for this car. He said that I was paying too much for my other car and put me on hold to obtain a better quote. After an hour on the call with being on hold for over 15 minutes. I was dropped.UUURRGGGG. Later the same day I called again and spent 52 minutes on the phone with them again (Jean) and DID sign up the new car. He said he couldn't give me a better rate on my existing car and transferred me to customer service. A half hour later I spoke with (Ron) a woman who also could not honor what the first representative (Ivan) confirmed. All operators I conversed with had VERY heavy accents making the entire experience more miserable.......My recommendation.... Use Songza, Pandora, Spotify.....Anything but XM! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service and predatory billing practices. SXM's days are numbered. Pretty soon every vehicle will have Car Play and Amazon built into vehicles and there will be no need to pay their ridiculous fees. Traffic is NOT real time and is not consistent between devices. Try troubleshooting anything with them. All they can do is send a refresh signal to the car. Then they give you a number to call back when it doesn't work. Then no one answers. Leave a bad review and you'll get an apologetic phone call form a real person that actually speaks English. I wish there was a "Minus Star" option! We have had Sirius XM since 2014 when we bought our Acura (which came with a 3 month trial period). We had three cars added to our account. Every single year, the billing is worse! Our bill increases at least $200 per year. When you call the 800 number, not only are you put on hold forever, they give you options to connect to various departments. One of the options is accounting to discuss your current billing. However, when you choose this option, someone answers to ask why you are calling. When you indicate you want to talk to someone in accounting, they tell you then don't have an accounting department. Are you kidding me??? A business collecting money from the public has no accounting department! UNBELIEVABLE! So you explain your issue with billing and they can't help you (or should I say won't help). So, you ask for a supervisor. They proceed to tell you their supervisor is busy and it will be a "while" before they can take your call. You say, 'no problem. I'll wait'. Then you are left on hold for 20+ minutes. When someone finally comes on the line, they proceed to ask the same questions again. You indicate you want to speak to a supervisor. Now, they tell you they don't have a supervisor on site! Again...Are you kidding me??? No accounting department and no supervisor. They proceed to tell me they will be billing my credit card for my renewal. However, they do not have my credit card information (which I refuse to give out). Besides, I have not given them the authorization to bill my credit card. I tell them to send me a hard copy of an invoice through the regular post. A full week later, still no invoice and I am getting emails saying I owe an amount and they will charge my credit card. I laugh to myself and call them again only to go through the same mess. Finally two days later, the hard copy arrives and I immediately hand carry a check to the post office the same day. Problem solved with the promise of not renewing this next year. Then two weeks later, I get a call from a girl saying my account has a balance of the full amount. Apparently, my check has not been posted. I tell her how I have been treated, and she decides she will credit my account for $30. I explain I am not renewing the service next year. However, for my trouble, she insists she will still "credit" my account for $30, which I have already paid in full. I tell her to send me a check! Now, I get a phone call from a "manager" (Tom). He tries to apologize while interrupting me constantly. This issue is not resolved. I will not renew nor recommend this service to anyone. People, use your CD's or Pandora. Sirius is a rip off in many, many ways. They are unprofessional, rude, have no idea how to run a business. I've tried to cancel my service with SiriusXM three times, and each time I called, I was waiting for over 30 minutes (before I hung up) on the phone for someone to pick up and assist me. I still have not been able to reach someone by way of phone to cancel. I tried to cancel online through chat and was told I could not, that I had to call and cancel. Rip off artists! And that's being over kind! I purchased my 2018 Chevy Diesel truck in the late summer. I had 3 months "free Sirius XM" that I let expire. After about the 5th letter from them offering lower and lower prices, I accepted one offer, and paid for a year. I get called from Sirius - a person in some foreign country this month (April 2019) saying I had a past due balance of $154.00! I am shocked & tell them the truck is not even one year old yet, and all the above facts - they say, "sorry sir, we can offer you a lower rate"... I ask for them to email me my account record to show how I owe anything and they say they can't - but to avoid my late payments I could renew for a lower price! I refuse and tell them I fully paid for a year - and it is no where near even a year yet! They just keep saying "you need to renew, and pay your past due balance"! I told them to CANCEL the account as I refuse to pay anymore! So that barely understandable person, sends me to another equally hard to understand - broken "English" speaking "cancellation specialist" who again offers to lower my premium. I explain the above to them, and again, they just say, how about this price - so I said firmly Cancel my service! As this person reads my confirmed cancellation, he tells me there will be no refund for my remaining CREDIT balance of $27.50!!!! No words can convey that frustration! My other gripe - WHY does Sirius XM pay DJ's to chatter on - on the 60's, 70's & 80's channels when we are paying to listen to MUSIC, not some DJ babbling on about how great and cool they are??? Horrible customer service! When they want to sign you up they never stop calling and sending letters with offers. Be careful! I agreed to 6 month membership and was told I would get an Echo Dot free. Never happened! I was charged for the dot and spent an hour fighting the charge. I was never refunded, they told me it was $30 for shipping, even though I explained several times I have Prime. Horrible customer service. They never mentioned that a plan will automatically renew unless you get an "Invoice plan". So be careful to cancel your account IF you do not want a renewal before the expiration date. You will get transferred to different departments and will be placed on hold for 30 minutes or more. Please negociate with Sirius XM if you want a certain plan. I got a 5 month $25.00 plan which expired. I wanted the same plan but they wanted to charge me $179.00. I declined. Then it was $99.00. I declined. Finally I accepted a $5.00 a month plan for 5 months. Be firm when you talk to them. They will try to bully you into accepting their payments. i had the siris promotion program 6 months for $35. plus tax and i had that several times. the last time it expired i called and cancelled 2 days prior to that, they cancelled it that day, which was actually 2 days before the expiration date. i cancelled siris april 17,2020 and it was to expire april 21,2020. since i was not traveling anymore i cancelled the subscription.. today october 31st i receive a bill for $120.36 siris has not worked in my car since april 18,2020. now i tried calling, chatting and now this. the call was useless since they are closed on saturday & sunday, so i tried the chat that was even worse it has to be a computer it does not understand the problem, so now on monday i will try to talk to a supervisor and hopefully get some satisfaction. i only listen to six stations so i have not missed siris, i just play cd's and listen to fm. i will never use them again due to their billing problems. i would not recommend siris for this reason, other than that it is ok. while i had siris i would lose it out in the country in certain spots but i didn't complain but this billing is terrible. they need to fix that. read more
