My child has been attending Sirota's Alchymy for quite some time…read more Since she has been going there I have noticed she has been more patient with everyone, more focused at school, learned how to persevere in daily activities and have honour as well among other things. All these characteristics she attained i believe is from learning Tae Kwon Do at this school. Much of that credit goes to Master Sirota. He is very patient, caring, speaks in a very non confrontational tone, never have I heard him raise his voice and just wants what's best for your child's well being. He has instilled his positive qualities to his instructors as well. My child speaks highly of Mr. Park, Mr. Justin and Mr. Lloyd to name a few. If you want your child to have discipline, focus and a positive outlook on everything as well as learning self defence, I highly recommend this place, you cannot go wrong attending here.

They offer classes for all levels and all ages and do everything they can to make you comfortable. Head Instructor, Master Woo, is kind, patient, crazy-amazing at TKD and FUNNY...the kids all gravitate to him, but also respect him at the same time (I have kept my kids in line with the simple phrase "What would Master Woo say right now?"). He is so good at what he does: keeping his students (young and old) motivated, keeping classes fun and informative, and instilling core values of discipline and respect. How he keeps a class of 20-25 children in check is beyond me, but he does it! Another gem is Program Director, GRACE! She is so good at making you feel welcome and at-home. She always has a smile on her face (it lights up the entire room) and she is always ready to do what she can to make your experience a good one, including swapping pants with you when your own pants are too short, so you don't feel like a complete moron (ahem, that was ME) during class. This is just one example of the many, many, things that Grace does to show you that she cares and wants you to be comfortable when you train. Everyone here, not just Master Woo and Grace, are fantastic instructors, each bringing their own uniqueness to how they teach. Never a dull moment, lots of laughs, being in better shape and a new extended family is what you will get if you train here. Can't say enough about how amazing everyone is!

I watched my son and nephews gain confidence, strength, self-control and a discipline that helped to make them strong and self-reliant. My son and I went to black belt together. I've stayed with the school and just last December achieved my 3rd Dan black belt. I'm the oldest student there, but I can say that Taekowndo has taken me out of my comfort zone many times, and that has built my confidence and helped to keep me physically young for my age. Hopefully he learns self-defense skills as well. I took my son to this school to register, and as soon as we walked in to check out the place my son was acting very uneasy and said he wanted to go home. A class was going on at the time and the place seems a bit disorganized. We went back to the car and I asked my son if he was ok, but he just wanted to go home. I went back in alone to ask some question about the program but no one seems to care that I was there... So we came home. Later I found out one of the bullies was there in the school wearing a black belt. My son was shocked and didn't want to learn martial arts anymore. I was very disappointed! A black belt in Port Moody Taekwondo school has been bullying my son. This school is not for my son and anyone who wants to learn respect and confidence!

I got a groupon to try the drop in class…read more Not bad, very small and cozy gym area. I was abit confused when I walk in because the reception area and the gym area are neck to neck. It is extremely sweaty and hot in the gym if you don't mind. I went for Monday class, there is not really any structure on the fundamental teaching (although the class description says it is adult fundamental Muay Thai class). The fitness class is good, it is a circuit and plus the heat, you will sweat like a bucket, excellent warm up for the Muay Thai class. I have done Muay Thai before so I know the fundamentals but it might be confusing for someone who has never done it before. The students and the instructors are super nice and friendly. Overall it is very bang for the buck you paid for the groupon. I would go again just because I like the challenges.

I take the Muay Thai kickboxing classes but Budo also offers Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Kyokushin Karate, X-fit conditioning classes for fighters and a variety of kids classes. The studio owners and instructors are all trained in and are practitioners of their respective disciplines, so they pay attention to and help you correct your technique. The skill set in the kickboxing classes range from newbies to trained fighters, so it's not intimidating if you want to try it out for the first time nor is it too boring if you're a trained fighter. I've definitely noticed an increase in my confidence and my fitness levels. But above all, the instructors and fellow students have made me feel more badass, which speaks loads about how much fun you have training here.

The make-shift wall FELL DOWN and nearly hit the kids sitting at the table..!!! The wall was hiding a bed..? It looked like the staff were sleeping there.. There was NO ROOM and we were super rushed, it was disgusting. The staff were unprofessional, they were told that the wall fell down and no compensation or apology was even given...
