Absolutely disgusted by this office, my 89 year old grandmother has a cold and needs to be seen and listened to by a doctor. Called up today and the only options are virtual or bring her to the ER. She hasn't left the house or been exposed to covid and you can not diagnose the sound of her breathing through a virtual visit. But instead they insist to bring her to an ER where she could be exposed to something more dangerous at this age. Will never return here, TERRIBLE patient manners. read more

My experience as a 1st time patient of Dr. Jill Sisselman (+ Physician Assistant, Elizabeth Westendorf) was the Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. My wife and I arrived on time, wore masks per their policy, & when asked at the front desk if I had any symptoms, I replied (honestly) that I had a tiny cough. I was asked to stand in the (bustling) hallway. Later I was shown to a room and Elizabeth, the PA, came in (I had made the appointment for Dr. Sissleman but I said nothing, I simply wanted to do the check-up). Elizabeth mostly kept her back to me, and quickly moved to ask about the tiny cough I had (honestly) reported. She struggled to explain that it would be mandatory that I take a Covid test--if I didn't take it, they would refuse to do the checkup, and also if it was positive, they would immediately send me home and not do the checkup. I said to her--3 times I repeated this--that I had made this appointment for a checkup and that I'd already had / got over Covid, but if taking the test was the only option, yes, I would take it but: (1) I felt forced to do so and (2) I disagreed with the policy because it created an incentive for patients to lie (*Key Point* I know for a fact that multiple patients lied in this way). Elizabeth then stood up and raised her voice! She insisted I must not only agree to take the test, but I must say I do NOT feel forced (I said again I would do the test, but reiterated I simply disagreed) She then threatened that perhaps I should move to my car in the parking lot and they'd come out to do the test there... I repeated again that I would do the test since it seemed to be my only option. --I did not curse --I did not yell --I simply said I would do it--3 times--and gave the concrete reason why I disagreed. Her eyes were bug-wide as she stood up, shook her head with her hands out: "I need a moment to compose myself!" I said: "I think you're taking this personally, I'll do it, I simply disagree with the policy." She repeated: "I need a moment"-- And then *WALKED OUT, THE DOOR SLAMMING*. She did not return... 2 min. later Dr. Jill Sisselman came in breathlessly scolding me. I calmly repeated again and again what I said until she actually heard me. I pointed out how disrespectful and unprofessional Elizabeth's behavior was. Dr. Sisselman, calming down, then apologized twice (2x)... I took the test as agreed. Of course it came back negative. Dr. Sisselman proceeded with the checkup. Her demeanor was cold. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I tried to be friendly and said how perhaps we'd gotten off on the wrong foot, I wished we could "hit reset :)". "Some people need to think about the suffering of others," was her reply as she tightened the blood-pressure wrap around my arm. Yes... She actually said that. Perhaps I should have said something, but honestly, I just wanted to leave. And I will not be coming back & neither will my wife. What a shameful, unprofessional experience. Shame on both Elizabeth for being so disrespectful & entitled, and on Dr. Jill Sisselman for enabling such bad behavior (as well as being deliberately rude and contradicting herself, both apologizing (2x) one moment then lecturing her patient the next moment.) Shameful! The above is my review of my experience with Elizabeth Westendorf, PA & Dr. Jill Sisselman's office, and I hope you find it helpful in your decision. And my hope is also that the business owner(s) will STOP lashing out at patients & instead take this feedback to heart and be more respectful and helpful toward their patients in the future. 3 weeks later, since they could not let it go and because they were so convinced of their righteousness, they sent me an unprovoked letter saying I was "argumentative" and therefore could no longer be a patient--it's a Clown Parade of neurotic feelings over there...And, of course they forgot paperwork that the letter claimed to be included there, just like they also forgot to upload the lab results. #ClownParade... Hopefully they'll reflect and choose to do better but we recommend you avoid this place. read more

I've been a patient for over 15 years. During my fist consultation, he saw something on an EKG that didn't look right. He recommended I see a cardiologist. Turned out I had some blockage that led me to have a quadruple by-pass. Had he not been concerned and made that recommendation, I'd most likely have died that fall. I just had a very pleasant first visit to this office! How nice to be greeted by a pleasant office staff. It was refreshing to have medical assistants who are professional while showing kindness and a smile . I had a great first visit with The NP Sabrina . She was friendly , professional, thorough, very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease (I have white coat syndrome). My husband has been going here for 15 years - I don't know why I waited so long! I have been to this practice twice for my annuals. I have gotten good vibes from most of the staff here. Most have been pleasant to deal with and willing to answer your questions. The apt's run a little behind but that's usually the case with these pcp's. Cant compare to a walk in clinic when I usually get taken immediately. The Dr's are important to me but the staff equally important. I don't go to a Dr to get aggravated and have on both occasions walked out of here happy. read more

We had high hopes for this practice but were disappointed. We found both doctors to be dismissive and lacking empathy. Most recently we paid well over $100 for two minutes with the doctor. Another thing we were unhappy with was that the doctors themselves do not call with your results, so any next steps, questions etc become difficult. Will be searching for a new practice. read more

Terrible bedside manner. He is very hands off and he looks to specialist to actually treat you. I do understand and respect that position to a certain extent. What really turned me off was I asked a staff member a simple question about physical therapy as a result of a recent hospital stay as I was checking out and I very easily overheard him get annoyed and angry with the staff member (and probably me) for asking my question and heard him yell his response to his staff that it's the specialists responsibility and didn't appreciate how the hospital doctors push things onto the general practitioner. I found this very unprofessional and made me uncomfortable since I am confused about who is providing me treatment and was just following the instructions provided in my hospital discharge papers and quite frankly was just concerned about my own health and wanted to make sure things were lined up to get treatment. I will be looking elsewhere. read more

I've visited this practice twice now due to the location being convenient and needing an appointment ASAP for a referral. I've always thought it feels outdated, disorganized and even a bit dirty. I've seen Sabrina the PA twice and she just truly loves to hear herself talk. Both times I've heard her yelling down the halls and just being loud for no reason. The first time I visited she made some odd assumptions about my health before testing anything that truly scared me as a young woman. The only redeeming part of the visit was that she recommended a new OBGYN who has been better than the one I had been seeing. The second time I went to the practice she made me feel silly for coming in to get something checked out and told me to get over being squeamish around needles because she assumed I'd eventually want children. She conducted routine labs for a physical and I ended up having an infection that needed to be treated but only heard about it from the office 4 days after my visit. I'm not planning on going back, both times I've left feeling discouraged and angry. read more

The receptionist- pleasant greeting with a huge smile. The office- very clean and are abiding by social distancing guidelines. The wait time- paperwork and waiting was proficient and quick. The nurse- very sweet, professional and down to earth. The exam room- very sanitized and updated. The NP- Sabrina was absolutely amazing! 5 stars for attitude, knowledge, friendliness and bed side manners. The exiting receptionist- extremely friendly and patient. She took the time to explain my paperwork and referrals. Overall first time experience- Outstanding employees who make you feel very comfortable and never rush you. I've been a patient here for over 5 years and refer friends and family all the time. Everyone from the front desk, techs, nurses, PA's and MD's are friendly and diligent. The wait to see someone is never long and they are always very accommodating. None of the doctors here are worth wasting your time and money on. They rush you out of the office and couldn't care less about actually treating whatever issue you have. I've been a patient here on and off for years just because of convenience in location. Dr. Sisselman himself is great - he is very nice and pleasant to work with. However, the front office at Massapequa is a complete and total mess. Those in charge of the front desk and phones are specifically responsible for my moving to a new doctors office. Calling the office is stressful because you know no matter who picks up the phone will be rude, snippy, and annoyed that you called to ask a question. You can't choose any of the menu options other than calling directly to the front desk because you will automatically need to leave a message (if you're lucky and the voicemail on that line isn't full), and then no one will call you back. It really is a shame because Dr. Sisselman knows what he's doing and has helped me a lot with my particular medical issues, but unfortunately it is not worth having the front desk make you feel like an idiot every time you try to do something to help your own health. Bottom line: not worth using the Massapequa office and attempting to work with the front desk. read more

What a great experience! I've had so many disastrous doctor's visits and going to Sisselman was one of my best. Everything went so smoothly and they were very efficient all around. (I have not only been in the medical field myself but I am also a teacher for medical procedures so I notice when things are not done correctly) My Medical assistant (SF) was right on point with all the testing I had done. She was quick but not rushed (an acquired skill of experience) and she was a pleasure to speak with. Shawni was so knowledgeable and has a natural compassion which is rare now-a-days. This office is a joke. I was looking for a primary care physician and was hopeful that this office would treat me well but after being with them for a month they've cost me nothing but stress. I get put on hold for too long then someone else answers having to repeat why I'm on hold. The labs messed up my blood work for an important test I needed requiring me to have to go back multiple times. Nurses seem clueless in there assessments. I called asking questions and told I'll get a phone call back and still waiting days later. I'm always hopeful and give places second chances but this place lost my respect. read more

I used to love going here and have been going here for over a decade. I feel as if they got "big " to quickly and now you need to wait for an appt until the next day or drive to Commack for a day of appt if you are feeling very ill. This is not great, if you live all the way in Nassau county and you are told to commute to Commack for a sore throat. We have been going to Citi Md instead of Sisselman's office in the last year. I love this doctor. Just started going here the last couple of months and everything is great. The first time, I was looking for a new doctor to go to and came across good ratings for Dr. Sisselman. I called at 8:30am in the morning because my knee was bothering me, especially when working out, and they were able to give me an 11:30am appointment. I arrived there 15 minutes early and was seen before my appointment. The doctor was very knowledgeable and helpful. I also received my yearly exam, which was quick and painless. Even the blood test was quick. The doctor gave me a knee brace and it has helped very well. Monday this week I was not feeling too great and called for an appointment in the morning. The Dr. was able to see me at 2:00pm that day. I arrived at about 1:40pm and was seen within 5 minutes. The Physicians Asst helped me this time and was helpful. I was out of there before 2:00pm. My wonderful doctor, Dr. Posillico, retired when a hospital took over his practice. I became so frustrated with the bureaucracy of affiliated hospital group practices, long waits and short appointments, so I decided to look for another doctor. I got recommendations and researched and chose this group; Dr. Jill Sisselman, in particular. This husband/wife practice is one of the very few that is still independent. No wait. Professional staff. Dr. Jill was thorough, informative, compassionate and called me the next day to follow up on a couple of things. If I could give this office a zero I would. My advice would be to use the Commack office who is fabulous! The staff in Massapequa is rude and they have no idea what they're doing. The commack office can have everything in your file yet Massapequa does not? The lab will call you many days later.... after you have left several Messages. You could die before you get any results. They have no idea I have already been proactive and called commack to get my results! Many people have told me to stay away including people who used to work there! These people are clueless and the office staff is more Concerned with chatting about each others earrings, etc. this is an extremely unprofessional office. These people don't have a clue. Go to the Commack office and save yourself the affgrivation of the Massapequa one. read more

My mother wrote a review on my behalf in November on her experience with the Sissleman Medical group after she came to my defense. I was referred to Dr. Sissleman's office by my mother years ago. Over the years, I have seen Dr. Sissleman, as well the PA's. I'm not sure what happened over the last year, but this review is in regards to the office manager and Dr. Sissleman. I made an appointment because I was extremely ill. The office proceeded to make my appointment. When I showed up for my appointment I was told that I owed a 20$ co-payment from March. I explained to the front desk staff that I did not have the $20 on me, but I would call tomorrow to give my credit card info. I was told that she would need to speak to the office manager. The front desk receptionist then returned and stated that I would not be seen if I did not have the 20$ from March as letters have been sent regarding the bill. I informed the office staff that I moved and I didn't change my address. I was told that I could not be seen until I came back with my 20$. At this point, I couldn't believe that the office would not let me see a doctor over 20$ when my insurance has paid them thousands of dollars and I've paid many co-payments over the last 6 -7 years with this office. I then asked to speak to the office manager. The office manager came to the front and spoke to me in a loud and rude manner. I asked if she could lower her voice because I was already embarrassed that I did not have the 20$ to pay for the March visit. I did have the 20$ for that day's visit, so I asked if she could apply my 20$ from that day to the March visit. The answer was no and she proceeded to keep going on about the 20$ never asking me why I was there to see the doctor. She then took me to a back office where we could talk. This is where things got worse. She got very upset and told me that if I went to a grocery store and didn't have the money for my items, I would not be able to leave with them. I asked her why she was so angry at me over 20$ and she said that she was upset because I wasn't admitting to the fact that I owed 20$. At this point, I started to cry because I was so embarrassed and felt so demeaned by this woman. I know money is important but doctors should also have a minimum level of care and concern and 20$ for a 7 year patient should not warrant this treatment. I couldn't understand if the office manager was just having a bad day or if it was a race thing, because at that point I was hysterical crying. I then told the office manager I would have my mother call and pay the 20$, so I could see the doctor. The office manager then said "That is not how we do things". Then I informed her that I couldn't understand how that would be an issue. Then at this point she told me that it was okay for me to stay for the appointment. I felt so demeaned that I declined and left. I have great health insurance, but now I understand how people without health insurance are treated if I was treated like this over 20$. I then contacted my mother who has been a long patient of Dr. Sissleman. My mother contacted the office to speak to the office manager who was also rude and hung up on my mother. My mother then called the office back and got in touch with Dr. Sissleman on three way. I was shocked when Dr. Sissleman was not caring, but in fact took up for the office manager and said I owed the 20$ and that was the issue. I told him how upset I was and that I came in because I was obviously sick and I had no problem paying the 20$, but I just didn't have it on me at the time. Dr. Sissleman was rude and could care less. He did state that I could come back to the office that night to see him, but at that point I was so embarrassed and humiliated by the whole situation. I am a African American woman and I have never felt biased in any way, shape or form in my life until that day in Sissleman's office with that office manager. As a result, I had to find urgent cares to go to until I eventually was hospitalized. Dr. Sissleman nor the office manager never called to apologize or check on me. The 20$ was paid by mother 5 minutes after I left Dr. Sissleman's office. I hope that in the future as a medical provider you would never allow a patient to be treated like this by your office manager or let a patient leave your practice feeling this way, especially over $20. UPDATE - To state that I wrote an inaccurate account of what happened is really disheartening. You did not witness what took place, because I'm sure if you did I hope you would have not allowed that to happen. I was very upset after what happened and my experience with that woman will always stay with me. I should not have to call your office to speak to you. Someone from your office or you should have at least called me the next day to check on me after I left your office in tears, hysterical, and let's not forget sick. I wasn't sure how to even start the review. I have been a patient for quite some time and I have recommended friends and family. So, I can't explain the treatment of my daughter and myself this week especially after I came to her defense. My daughter came in for a short notice visit and was told she owed a bill from March 2018 for $20.00 and wouldn't be seen without paying. There was a discussion about the charge but she explained that she rushed from work she was willing to pay the March $20 bill and would call back the next day with her credit card for this visit. She was told no and asked to speak to the manager. That is when things got ugly, over ($20.00). The manager came out aggressively and loud, my daughter asked her to lower her voice as other patients were seated in the waiting room and it was getting embarrassing for her. She requested to speak in private and they went to a room door was left open and she starts telling her about how you can't go grocery store and buy anything for free and that she doesn't want to admit to the bill that was mailed , which she knows she owes my daughter tried explain she moved 2x mail came to my house by this time it wasn't about $20.00 it was about degrading her she needs to be grow up. FYI she is a well educated young lady who works with the public. I am so proud she kept her composure. I can't imagine if she behaved like the manager as a young black women the police would have been called . all this cause she didn't have extra $20.00. Honestly this could have happened to any of us, so she left very upset/sick and never had her appointment with the Dr/PA She contacted me at work sobbing(sick) so of course i contacted the manager who again repeated the same grocery story as if we were deadbeats I never cursed 1X (I was at work ) but as any mother I told her i thought this was crazy possible a race issue (something I don't use lightly) what else could explain all this drama over $20.00. The manager was extremely nasty during our exchange I mentioned I was in the office a few weeks ago an nice gentleman owed over 100 paid half and sat down no confrontation at all . so we when back and forth and guess what no surprise she hung up on me!!! I have to say I am a customer service rep for 31 years but this person had a different tone, a superior tone I clearly recognized from my experience. To be honest at one point I thought I was being punked this couldn't be happening over $20.00 . I have been a patient over 5yrs (2 offices) my daughter about 1&2with no issues always pleasant laughing never any conflict .So it was really disheartening when during a callback with the doctor and my daughter who still very upset from this experience tried to explain, but instead the Dr sounded angry and of course sided with his employee, he never acknowledged her treatment , no apologize but he did offer for her to come back really!!!! he told her that I was abusive to his employee are you kidding??? I defended my daughter Im not sure what she said to him nor do I care but I wasn't going to allow her to speak to me that way period,and definitely not over $20.00 . I told my daughter we are now those **angry people** when I spoke to the Dr I mentioned race I was told to be very careful really is this a threat ??? I am entitled to my opinion, I never said anything about his personal views but in my soul I knew race played a part . We were your clients having paid co-pays, late payments insurances over several years allot more than $20.00. You owed my family the benefit of hearing us out, but unfortunately that would not happen. I want to make this crystal clear this was my only Doctor I was extremely disappointed with his lack concern or compassion . I even called back to speak with the manager again trying to find out how this when so far left she started saying people think doctors are rich and people don't pay really she owed $20.00 and I owe nothing but she went on with this aggressive tone talking about the old staff I'm like this is crazy I give up PS The $20.00 is paid in full. How is this a smart business decision apparently you allow your office to treat certain clients this way but I can say its no longer a place for us . I want to be clear I am not saying anything about my healthcare treatment personally I thought I had a good patient relationship but to condone embarrassing patients not acceptable . This interaction should have never happened. Suggestion maybe you shouldn't schedule appointments unless all balances are paid in-full (for everyone. ) In addition customer service training is needed,t treating people with decently is everybody's right . In closing my first ever social posting I am sure my view is correct especially after reading an another review on Facebook. So disappointed. We have been with this group for over ten years. Somehow our old insurance (Cigna) made a clerical error and put our end date as 4/30/3016. (Note the first digit of the century!). Anyway today the sisselman group refused to see my 18 year old unless we paid a $420 bill dating to 5/26/2016 (less than 60 days past due and the office acknowledged it was an administrative issue with insurance). Huh? First do no harm? As long as you get paid in 60 days? I must have missed that part of the Hippocratic oath. Shame on them. We have had issues (too numerous to mention) but let them go as we were adults(husband and I). But my children? Refusing to see him because of a 63 day bill that they KNEW would be covered? This review is for the Massapequa office. The girls at the front desk, in the morning, are very nice. NP Sabrina is very nice. waiting room could use a sprucing, looks dirty, especially the front door, very cold decor, not that it really matters, it's a waiting room. Girls in Lab...very COLD personalties! They need to smile and act like they want to be there. Never saw either Dr. Sisselman, was never offered an appointment to see either, always a PA or NP. When you register on My Medical Locker to view your lab results, don't be surprised when they don't show up. My last results took 2 months to update! I have medical issues and want to see my results, I don't want to have to call to get them, that being said, if you have to call the lab good luck getting a call back the same day. I followed Dr Steve from East Meadow Family Practice and was always very happy with the service I received. Pros: I was usually seen at or within 5 minutes of my appointment time. Always got an appointment the day that I called, Monday thru Friday and Saturdays, too. They have a PA on staff. They take blood and do other tests such as echo's in the office. Cons: The girls at the front desk would speak badly of a patient once they hung up the phone with him or her and the entire waiting room would hear them bad mouth the patient. Some other Yelpers have noticed this too, I see. I can only assume that they have done this to me as well. I expect this type of unprofessionalism at a Home Depot or a Burger King, not at my doctor's office and for that reason, I have returned to EMFP, where I was warmly welcomed back. read more

I see Dr. Stephen and find him genuinely concerned about his patients. I do have an issue with a staff member chewing a wad of gum while she is checking me out. Very unprofessional. Also, glass between waiting room and office should be mandatory as per HIPAA. Do not want to hear staff complaining about a patient on the phone. read more
