Alright, so I'll start by commenting on her ability as a reader. There are certainly people who are much worse in Austin. They don't charge the prices she's charging, but you know, whatever. If this is how she chooses to make a living, this is how she chooses to make a living. Who can put a price on making rent? She knows the cards. Does she know the cards as they pertain to you or your question? Is she mystical? Even vaguely sort of magical? Does she make a genuine connection with the folks she's reading for? Does it feel like there's more between you and her than the fact she looked at your LinkedIn profile a day before your appointment? A resounding no on all counts. But like I said, you could find worse, and she fills the hour. If this is your first foray into tarot readings, you'll probably really enjoy it--after all, you don't have anything to compare it to. She went a little too specific on mine and it didn't ring true in the least. But I think that's sort of a risk you need to be willing to take in these ventures. The "storytelling" aspect of it was fine, even if it wasn't my story. Other people have commented on her Guidelines-with-a-capital-G, which are perfectly reasonable, in theory. She works out of her home, airstream in her yard or not, and wanting to maintain a certain level of privacy is completely understandable. Not offering a bathroom or water only means you're not as high end as other venues, but whatever, you don't waltz into a McDonalds and expect Ruth's Chris. So all that said, you might be wondering why this is a two star review: I don't know if she has something against me personally or what, but she doesn't strike me as a very nice person. And it's a big enough deal where I'm including it in this review. It's a big enough deal where I created a Yelp account to post this. I don't think I have ever been so turned off by a provider of any service, in my life. It's not only an internal "I'll never purchase a service from this person again" it's "I actively want to warn other people because it was extremely unpleasant." A lack of warmth, arrogant, needlessly ornery (for lack of a better word here)... Like I said, I almost have to wonder if it's personal. If you're paying someone to -- let's be real here, be nice to you and pull shit out of their ass about your future -- it's a little tough to stomach the passive aggression. It felt like even being superficially nice to me was painful to her. And hey, maybe I have a punchable face or something. But nobody wants to pay over $100 for that shit? read more

I made an appointment for a reading and was looking forward to the experience. However, I didn't go to the reading, because of the phone call I received the night before. She called me to passive aggressively warn me about her conditions. How there was a lengthy e-mail that I must read with her while she is on the phone, so she knows I understand her terms. How she doesn't provide a bathroom to her customers, which is strange. You shouldn't be running a business out of your home if you don't want people to use your bathroom. The entire phone call made me feel uneasy, and I decided not to go to the appointment. I was almost afraid to call her back and cancel with her after she warned me about her $40.00 cancellation fee. She told me that's normal for many appointment cancellations, which isn't true. I've never been charged for missing an appointment anywhere. Unless it's some high-end business, which her business is not. Today I was at work and she actually took it upon herself to call my job (I have no idea how she found out where I worked, which makes me even more nervous!!) --to tell my manager that she had a appointment with her. She wanted to know if I was okay. This was so unprofessional on her part, you don't find out where someone works and try to figure out information about them, but cover it up with "I want to make sure you're okay" story. It creeped my manager out, because she didn't even leave a name and number and he told me the whole conversation with her didn't feel right. In fact, It's downright scary and harassment at this point. I'm sorry that I was a no show that is my fault, but I was very uncomfortable after that phone call and didn't feel okay to cancel it after all her warnings over the phone. Now I'm concerned that she is going to continue to call my job or find out where I live now. Who knows? I don't feel okay with how this was handled at all. I didn't even meet her and I would NOT recommend making an appointment with this reader. read more

I wanted to wait a bit after my appointment to post a review. It's been about 6 weeks since I met with Angeliska, and I have to say I'm as impressed now as I was the day I had my reading. Everything that people have said about Angeliska is true: she is kind, compassionate, and extremely engaging. She will make you feel at ease. The photos of my spread are very helpful and have been a great reminder of what we discussed. This was my first reading and she was very good at explaining the cards and their position in the spread. She didn't pry for information or say vague, generic statements. I went to see Angeliska on a whim. After reading an overwhelming number of five star reviews and one long rant, I decided to see for myself what the deal was. The conclusion I immediately came to was that the ranter was uneducated in her understanding of the current practice of Tarot as a serious metaphysical tool for counseling and healing. Angeliska is a gifted New Age healing practitioner working within traditional methods. The author of the 1-star review clearly was unaware of the tremendous development of the healing modalities utilized by the new generation of counselors and energy workers. As was clearly state by the author, she and her boyfriend were looking for entertainment. Kind of a long drive in order to pay someone in order to mock and insult them, but oh well. Personally I found Angeliska to be nothing but world class. Professional, insightful, comforting and clear. I paid her and came with the same expectations as I would with my regular therapist.
