I'm surprised at so many poor revies on here. I've been with Siteground a few years and my experience has been good. I now have about 30 sites with them. Pros: - Fast - Back end very well designed, I find it easier and less overwhelming than cpanel - Support 24/7, helpful & friendly once you get through Cons - Very steep renewal prices - You have to jump through a few hoops to get through to a real support person, the option is hidden behind FAQs and their AI agent Overall my impression is that it's a good quality host. I moved to SiteGround years ago because of their excellent support. Those days are long gone. More than sixty hours ago all my AI tokens disappeared. I immediately jumped through hoops to get to a real person, who filed a support ticket. Which got bumped to another level the first hour. They have acknowledged something is wrong. When it had been 50 hours, I pointed out it had not been resolved. I can't use the AI, and that is not acceptable. The response was: "Thank you for the update, Paul. Our developers are actively working on addressing the issue, and we will notify you as soon as we have any information." I realise no one there cares about the couple hundred dollars I spend each month. Perhaps I should find a host who does care. UPDATE: Still not fixed. I need a tool that works, so I asked to have the account cancelled and my payment refunded. What I got in response was: "I would like to mention that our developers work standard shifts, which means they are not available during Saturday and Sunday. However, as today is Monday, we are likely to receive an update from them. We will make sure to provide you with an update as soon as possible. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated!" So they just ignored my attempt to cancel. I wonder how long it will take to get that done. read more

Web sites were held hostage until I renewed an old account. Beware! After 5 years of good hosting this happened. I had purchased a new plan a month before the old plan expired, and they did not transfer the sites. Then they charged me $400 to gain access to my websites so I could transfer them. I migrated my site from GoDaddy to Siteground a few years back because I was redoing my website and read that Siteground was better for WordPress. (I don't know if that's true.) I'm wishing I hadn't switched because SG is much more expensive than GoDaddy was AND my mailbox capacity is SO much smaller on Siteground. Then a little over a month ago my email stopped coming to my iphone. I didn't know what they had changed. I haven't had a second free due to work to contact them to fix this. At least I was able to check my email on my computer. NOW I CAN'T SIGN INTO SITEGROUND AT ALL. And they tell you online when you search "customer service" that to speak to someone you have to put a request in through your Client Area on the backend of your website. This company has gone to shit. Their support staff is the absolute worst now. They say when a fish begins to stink it starts at the head. I'm willing to bet they made a large internal change and did some new hiring a year or 2 ago, as thats when the platform started going south. It's like the Siteground staff is trained to immediately blame the customer and not have any accountability for the fuck ups with your company. Just Google how their customers were deindexed from Google. For those of you that don't know what this means, for 5 days this shit company had all of their clients sites removed from Google search because they don't stay on top of their issues at SG. As said they just blame the customer and keep it moving. Then lets talk about how they charged me full price at $24 a month for a year, without my consent. Just took it. I had been with them for years, and then all of a sudden my bill increases like 500%. So it took some time to get migrated. About 6 months. Since I paid full price upfront I should've been entitled to a refund for canceling. Nope! Their support said that I had 30 days after starting service and that they wouldn't honor it after. SO I went to Trustpilot and left a lengthy review. Then they refunded my remaining balance and responded "We made a one time exception". Take heed people, they made a one time exception refunding someone who paid FULL PRICE UPFRONT FOR A YEAR. An exception. So right there they admitted, that usually they rob their customers who pay full price upfront and decide to cancel. WHen you could've just paid month to month for the same price. The fact they don't see the lunacy in this tells you what kind of shit company they are. I could not reach anyone at SiteGround when they closed my site down my website.Without notice I was blindsighted. Before my due date, a gentleman from SiteGround CALLED me, and I agreed to a monthly plan. A couple of weeks later I see on my credit card statement that SiteGround has billed me for the year.! What a rip off! I never needed a company like this previously in order to have my website "viewable on line," until I hired a professional to rebuild my website. Now I am faced with all these yearly add ons including $550 from SiteGround for something I never needed before. Utto. They may take my website down for stating this. But buyer beware. If my "webmaster"--the guy hired to update my website-- had told me I would have this and additional annual fees, I would have left well enough alone. I am a very small business. I should have taken these reviews seriously. A week or so after my site went live on GoGeek I was told I needed to upgrade to GoBig (or whatever). Then on the first day of a retreat that I was on, they closed the site because of "resources." It's not that big of a site. So in order to bring it back online I was pretty much forced to pay $200. We're a non-profit, we couldn't have the site down. And they did this with NO warning. After that there were numerous permission denied errors and 500 errors. And I'm on retreat (at home, but still...). Their support was pitiful, beyond pitiful, I had to steer them in the right direction. It was as though they were doing everything in their power not to help me. After a week of this I moved the site to a new hosting provider. No more errors, no more 500 pages. Un-believable. Also no cPanel, it's a really dumbed down portal. I still need to get my $200 back. It came out of my own pocket, I will not ask my organization to pay this. Their customer support, from every interaction I've had, is professional, respectful, and cooperative. However, I signed up for service, and then a month later, I had a charge of over $100 I was not expecting. Read your terms well. I've requested a refund and to cancel my account now because those were fees I hadn't expected, wanted, or budgeted for. It felt a little deceptive. The initial setup with their sales associate was not clear about these extra charges that were going to happen just a month later. I'm still trying to figure out if it was deceptive-It was not expected. I'm not sure if the refunds will process and if, on the way out of this situation, all will go smoothly. If I am able to update this review afterwards, I will. For now, I'm sure there are many great things about SiteGround. They are recommended by Wordpress, etc. However, be aware of billing and know what you're signing up for IN WRITING, review, and keep for your records. As of right now, customer support is 5 star. Billing, etc. is a 2-3. Receiving a refund smoothly and closing my account without problems could bring it to a 3-4 rating. However, I know that charge was not discussed-for that, it's a 3. I cannot get to customer service. When I first came to them, they were a good web hosting company, now they are just "Meh". They had a security breach, which does not sit well with me. At. All. then when they asked me to renew my website and plan with them, they charged $319.00, which I do not agree with them on that either. so I signed up with another hosting plan. I've DM-ed the owner my email address so we will see what happens. To provide an update - I've been communicating with a costumer service representative and copying her on all of my emails to the "compliance team". She recently reached out to inform me that magically the compliance team can't find any of my emails. She suggested that I may have the email address wrong so I should go back to their website and copy and paste it from there and try again. This is all very comical to me because she has been copied on almost every single email. She can clearly see that I have the correct email address and she can clearly see that the emails are indeed being sent. She also has all of the information she needs and could just forward it along but nope. She instead tells me to go back to their website and look for the email address. She doesn't even provide the email address in her email. I am convinced at this point that there is no compliance team. read more

I switched from the disaster that is GoDaddy to SiteGround last week, and the customer service is as some others have said, which is not good for me so far. You will sometimes wait a super long time to actually talk to someone, and once you do you might get someone who isn't friendly and hard to understand due to a heavy accent. The callback service for help doesn't work -- no one called me back, multiple times, am not sure what the deal is there. However, people on chat have been very helpful and friendly, as long as you're willing to wait a while, sometimes up to 40 minutes for me. GoDaddy had awful hosting but they did have truly incredible customer service. In today's world I need fast response, and it just isn't there so far with SiteGround. The site itself can be very slow, as well. Not impressed so far, I'm sorry to say, but I will give it a chance while I have 30 days to try it. read more

I own a company that uses several web hosting services at Siteground. We pay between $500-$1000 to them every month. Their technical support is OK, but recently I had an experience with a very rude employee that has caused me to look for alternatives. We were trying to move a site on Siteground to a domain we own, also on Siteground. It is ordinarily an easy process, one we had been through many times, but on this occasion it just didn't work. On March 22, we opened a ticket. I checked with them on March 23, March 25, and again on March 28. At this point, fed up with the same response ("our developers are looking at this"), I told them I was going to move my business elsewhere. The response from their "support" representative was the equivalent of "we don't care, here is how you cancel". Actually, it was exactly that: "To cancel your account you can go to your User Area - Services - Hosting - Manage - click on the 3 dots - Cancel." Almost amused by this level of rudeness, I wrote back and let the rep know I'd be using her lack of service as an example for anyone who was considering moving to Siteground. Her response: "You are most welcome." Actually fixing the issue would have been a better use of the rep's time. They kept my credit card info and auto renewed even after I canceled all services 9 months ago and again canceled the auto renew. The cancelled partial service and charged my credit card without my consent. Their system does not allow you to remove your credit card information. I filed a complaint to FCC.gov and FTC.gov for charging me without my consent and after canceling over the phone with their rep and canceling auto renewal online. Also disputed the charge with my credit card company. SiteGround refuses to refund nor cancel my account. Beware!!! This company was referred to me by my social media professor. The best hosting experience I've had since hosting my very first site in 1996! I have dozens of hosting relationships all over the place, and I can tell you guys this hosting company blew me away! Their custom control panel is amazing. Everything works quickly and smoothly. The team that worked on that, kudos! As for support, they have a two-tier 24/7 support, which includes chat and phone. They recommend chat. I used both chat and phone, but personally, I prefer chat, as I want something I can reference later, in case the need comes up. On the first-tier if you have basic questions and basic administration needs they will take care of it for you. If, however, you have something complicated, like in my case, a very complicated custom website that needed to be migrated over that had both WordPress and non-WordPress elements, then it goes to what they call Advanced Technical support. I found their tech support to be patient, helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. You can rate each tech's service right on their page, so I like that feature too. If anyone out there wants to chat about migration dos and don'ts when it comes to migrating your site to SiteGround, feel free to hit me up. SiteGround helped me a lot, so I feel the onus is on me to reciprocate the love and help someone else out. I will keep this review updated as I experience new things with my new favorite host. I went with Siteground for hosting my website because they're supposedly one of the better web hosts out there. But that's two years ago. Now I find their support to be abysmal. My account got compromised, and someone went in the User Area and changed the administrative user email. I contacted the support phone number, which wasn't easy to find to begin with, and after 10 minutes of waiting, the support person said he can't help me with this problem, and that I would have to email the compliance team with my contact info and they would resolve this issue. Needed to pair down a website I have been paying 150 bucks a year, to just a place holder url, with a few emails I need to retain. Have done this with another service provide and they did this for like 19 bucks a year, plus the cost of a url, and gave me a rebate towards the unused portion of my hosting bill. Siteground? Was told I needed to pay the entire 150 just to retain url and emails. That if I switched url to another service provider I would not get a rebate on unused portion of hosting money I had already paid. When I explained what I had done with other service provider my customer service rep essentially said "I really couldn't give a crap, and do whatever I wanted but they were not going to offer me a url and email, nor rebate any of the other 6 months I have left for hosting". I have been a small customer with SiteGround since 2015, with service one step up from their minimum offering as I have multiple domains. And at first I felt they were a vast improvement over my previous provider. Performance is fairly decent still, but service is another matter. My biggest complaint is how they treat existing customers vs. new customers. Over the past year they have gutted their (already minimal) implementation of the cpanel user interface, while promising a brand new "coming soon" much better interfaces and toolset for access to both their support/billing and for our tools to manage our own sites. This interface has been in place for new customers since August of last year, but most existing customers have yet to see either. We continue to see a poorly implemented & supported cpanel showing facilities no longer functional, etc. Today I received notice that my account would be migrated to the new "client area" (not important or useful to me!) soon, but there is no schedule yet for migration from the disfunctional cpanel to the supposedly new, improved management interface. Is there really a new improved interface? The "demo" link they offer is not very convincing? Is the problem with migrations not going well? This is sad! read more

No published telephone number, they RIP customers off by consuming time when you are trying to resolve an easy issue, you have to spend days emailing back and forth with support. TERRIBLE. These people lied about migrating my website and charged my account for two years of hosting without even hosting my account. The developer that I worked with hosted the website because they never migrated the site to there platform. Then overcharged me for service that I didn't receive. They robbed me blind, these people are crooks.... Don't walk away, Run Run as fast as you possible can to a real hosting company. No real help with customer service after they rob you. It's hard to even get in touch with anyone now and on the phone they have an attitude. Apparently, they've began limiting your chats in order to provide support to everyone. Siteground is certainly better than Blue Host, but I still wouldn't recommend them. They automatically charge you for renewal 15 days before your year runs out. This should be illegal!!! They claim it is to avoid website downtime in case your card is expired or declined, but I think that's bogus. They should provide a grace period in that case. I have never heard of a subscription renewing before the due date. And the renewal price is over twice what I paid the first year! I canceled my account, luckily got a refund, and will never go back to their service. And now I have to wait 5-7 business days to get MY MONEY, and it's not the best time for me to have to wait. They should just cancel the payment. Their support is pretty good, but it's sometimes difficult to figure out how to contact them - you have to go through hoops to find the link. Their website migration program wouldn't work for me when I signed up for their service, and their support fixed everything quickly. I will give them credit for that. However, their site speed is abysmal, so I ended up switching my main site immediately and just used their service for some small sites I'm just starting. There are so many better providers I would recommend over Siteground - BigScoots, WPEngine, Namecheap, I could go on and on. read more

That seems to be fixed, now for the 5th time in about 2 weeks they are dealing with some type of issue and the emails are coming in HOURS LATE! Hours!!! I just saw one that was sent at 11am, got it around 8pm. I have clients pissed off at me, asking if I'm working, why am I not replying to their requests. Because I never got the emails! I am a full stack developer and have had my site affected dramatically by their updates with no time to prepare and no comprehensive documentation as to the expected affects or what was actually changed. Every time I have needed to contact support, it's like they don't even try to read and respond to the content. They see key phrases and send stock responses, leading to weeks worth of back and forth emails just trying to get anyone to actually respond and try to help. I could not be less satisfied. read more

Siteground was/is the domain registrar for 2 of my domain names (not live sites). I wanted to transfer those domain names but SiteGround has made that impossible. I've emailed. I've called. Maybe my attorney needs to write them a snail mail letter. Their new redesign has so many broken links I don't know where to start. That's the source of a lot of my frustration. Their pages don't work anymore. I moved to GreenGeeks a year ago and they answer the phone and have excellent chat support by a real person that knows how to fix things. read more

We were considering changing our hosting for our website so spent over an hour on the online chat setting up an account. We told the agent on the chat that we wanted to move over our emails eventually but not yet. She asked what the email addresses were so she could have them in the account so when we were ready, we could switch over. After setting up the account, we discovered our emails with our current provider were not active. We are a small business so not receiving emails affects our income. I spent over an hour trying to get someone on the phone to help us fix this problem but it is next to impossible to get someone live as they do not have a phone number listed. You have to start with the chat, which did not help us and then request a service call, which we could not access. After an hour of frustration, we decided to just cancel the new account and stick with our current hosting company. I again had to get on the chat to cancel, which took another 20+ minutes as they do not have a phone number listed. In the end, they refunded the annual cost with them but would not refund the cost of the hosting as they said we had used it. This was literally within 48 hours of setting up the account, since we did that on a Saturday and cancelled Monday morning. We were required to use the hosting initially to set up the account, so they had us sign in and set it up and then said they can not refund that $139.00. This is horrible customer service and not having a phone number to call for service is a terrible practice. We have to pay for a year of service for Weebly, which we will not use, as they will not credit our account. I would not recommend SiteGround due to the bad customer service and if you need to get someone on the phone, good luck. read more

The ONLY option is chat which says "est wait time 12 min". I've been here almost an hour waiting. I'm trying to run a business an having a critical issue. With no one to talk to... I have no idea what's going on. I just paid for the GoGeek plan and upon logging in to the Siteground members area, every action and page load seems to take over 30 seconds to over a minute, sometimes ending with "Internal Server Error". I cannot migrate my website, I cannot access help or get someone to help me since helpdesk is loading supernaturally slowly too and throwing "Internal Server Error", and I cannot even find an email address to send my concerns to. In desperation i logged into pre-sales livechat, the agent asked me to hold while redirecting to support... and as I waited, the chat closed. Now I don't even know where I can actually get some support. I'm not from US so calls are out of the question. This is kind of a disappointing start really. The sales guy who seemed like a nice chap assured me I would probably love the customer service much more as I was switching hosts due to terrible support. But hey, at least back at my old host I can get live chat support and talk to a real person at the click of a button, not hidden under any menus. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Please take these bad reviews seriously. At first, they seem like a great option. The hosting price was low, migration to SG was seamless, and the custom control panel was easy to use. I initially signed up for 2 years GoGeek with the SG Scanner for $306.60 on April 11, 2020. On April 17, 2020, six days after migration, a blog post went viral and SG could not handle the traffic. I was advised by customer service to upgrade from GoGeek to Cloud and was told I could downgrade when my traffic went back to normal. In 6 days, I spent $306.60 for 2 years of hosting and an additional $240.00 to upgrade to 1 month of Cloud hosting. A total of $546.60. No problem, my site could handle the extreme traffic. I was happy. The downgrade was easy peasy as well, but on Dec. 28, 2020, I was charged an additional $479.88 for 1 year of GoGeek hosting and $19.80 for 1 year of SG Site Scanner even though my initial sign up was for 2 YEARS OF GOGEEK HOSTING. That means in 8 months, SiteGround charged me $1,100.28 for 1 year of hosting, even though I purchased 2 years of hosting for $306.60, and that should not have expired until April 11, 2022! When I called asking for clarification, the customer service rep was INCREDIBLY RUDE tried explaining that because I had upgraded to Cloud hosting, that switch nullified my original 2-year hosting plan. He finally said, "We are talking in circles. We have to increase our pricing because no hosting company could survive with pricing that low." He hung up on me. At this point I was stuck. They refused to refund me. Talked down to me. Took my money. If I could give SiteGround zero stars I would. Upon migration, they hide files and make it difficult to manually check your site for security issues. Site migration off of SG is not incredibly difficult. The SG Wordpress plugin seems helpful at first, but in reality, you're losing control over your site. There is no C Panel. They also mysteriously did maintenance on the main servers at the same time my site was hacked on the server side. I would have had no idea had I not signed into SG. DO NOT USE SITEGROUND! read more

I've used many other WordPress hosting sites and these guys - SiteGround.com - was ranked highly. Unfortunately, a simple WordPress setup caused 2 calls to tech support, with the 2nd call taking more than 30 minutes to be completed. What's worse, is that they couldn't explain to me what they did to fix the issue, so now if I have other issues, I have to do a support ticket, rather than fixing it myself. If I didn't need to get this site setup and running quickly, I wouldn't stay here - but if there's even one more issue, I'm gone. So disappointing. read more
