Excellent! We got to boat into a remote location that had no shortage of fish. Not sure how the owner found the spot he took us too because the boat ride was 2 hours long and a adventure all in itself. We got to see a brown bear (near where we were fishing). We saw several whales, sea lions, otters. Amazing view of the islands. Also hear the owners story of how he came to Sitka. He was very patient with me as he taught me how to fly fish. His wife also needs to be thanked for packing us great lunches. Well worth every penny!

Did an excellent job today for my husband and myself. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable (Dick and Joe) we took the Ecco adventure and saw whales, otters, Risso dolphin, puffins and a mama and baby bear! My sister did not feel well and they refunded her money no problem, thank you for a great day!

Jason showing me the fly fishing ways (and probably untangling my line that I managed to keep getting into knots).

Jason and Travis took our group of four fly fishing this week while we were in Sitka on our stop from the Holland America Noordam cruise. They were great guys, super personable, friendly, extremely patient, and knowledgeable. Our group was mixed experience levels, myself being a true beginner and never having been any sort of fishing before. We started in a river nearby (2 minute drive) and then went to a lake nearby as well (also about a 2 minute drive). Jason stayed with the two beginners, while Travis took the two more advanced fishers further up the river. Jason helped me learn a few different casts, taught me terminology, and had me try fishing with a few different flies. I even ended up catching a rainbow trout! When I caught the fish, I was very squeamish, but Jason was encouraging and kind enough to take a few pictures and send them to me afterwards. (We released the fish back into the water after my picture!) It was a great day and I highly recommend a fly fishing adventure if you are in Sitka.

We had a fabulous time with Sitka Alaska Outfitters's! All staff treated us as family and made our experience monumental. Mahalo!

Kayak review Summary/ TLDR…read moreI would definitely recommend SWCK. Gear was outstanding, response time was fantastic, safety was exceptional and the day trip was very fun. Longer summary Mike was very responsive when I tried to book the kayak trip. We would be in Sitka for the day during our week-long Alaska cruise with Holland America (great cruise line, but that is another review). SWCK is a bit of a walk from where the bus drops you off at the visitors center, but that wasn't a big deal. Walking across the bridge to to SWCK gave us a great view of Sitka. Mike was ready with all the gear and kayaks. We let him know that we had to be back in time to get on the boat and he definitely gave us enough time to get back. We were 2 adults, an 11yo, a 9yo, and an 8yo. The adults have kayaked a couple times before and the kids were new to it. Mike is experienced with younger kayakers as well as older kayakers (he has *a lot* of experience). After a good safety and technique talk, we set off for a beach for lunch and then saw a whale in the distance, given our strength and ability to kayak he changed course so we could get a closer look at the whale and she was beautiful. We also saw sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles. Since Mike is so experienced with kayaking and taking photos, he took photos and videos of us the whole time and airdropped it to me at the end, which was awesome. The weather was wonderful. Needless to say, Mike is very personable and loves what he does. Thank you for letting us share the day with you, Mike. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

I was transported to the hospital emergency room. I passed out at the airport, therefore I did not make the trip. I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. This would have been my 9th trip with Angling Unlimited. I have been a loyal returning customer. When I called to see if I could get a credit towards next year I was told that "it is not,our policy". There are exceptions to every policy made. I feel like I've been loyal to them for eight plus years and they would not bend their policy to help me out! If they would have offered a 50% credit, I would have been happy with that. I am so disappointed in their response. I was told that because there was only 3 fishermen on our boat that they couldn't do anything for me, but I know within our group, which had a total of three boats that one of the boats had only 3 fishermen on it. A small company should be able to "bend" their policy for a returning loyal customer. Rick Granzella

Our captain Nate must be related to Aquaman - he has an uncanny ability to know how long to fish one spot before trying another. First mate Malachi kept all lines untangled, all hooks baited, and made sure our fish were cleaned/filleted beyond restaurant quality. Back ashore, Kristi and her staff kept our bellies full with just-right family comfort food, and clean, quiet 4-start equiv hotel level accommodations for rest. Would def go again! Pro tip: Bring a seasick patch (Scopolamine). I'm normally sea-sensitive, but between the patch and Nate's boatmanship, I had no problems whatsoever.

The staff at the inn was friendly and accommodating from the very start it seemed that there was nothing they wouldn't do to make our stay enjoyable. Our lodging was more than comfortable with the added bonus of a fantastic view that gets even better when the sun sets. Our hosts, Rich and Karen Kraft, are the nicest couple that take the time to get to know you and make sure there isn't more they can do for you. Courtney and Cameron assists you in the day to day things like shuttling you to the boat and the market if needed. Christie is the awesome chef that provides you with delicious breakfasts and gourmet dinners. Her desserts are to die for, the cheesecake with raspberry sauce being my favorite. She even bakes cookies and crumbles for you to eat on the boat. The fishing turned out to be catching on our trip. Captain Tyler, who is the Kraft's son, is second to none in Sitka. I truly believe we boated more fish in the four days of fishing than any other charter. He expertly put us on the fish every day even when the conditions were rough, and the conditions were pretty rough the last two days. We even limited out on silvers (36) and halibut (6) on the second day by 1:00. We all went home with 92 pounds of salmon and halibut filets. Then there is Caleb our deckhand. Caleb does everything from baiting lines to netting fish to cleaning the catch and making awesome sandwiches made to order. We are very grateful to meet such a fine hardworking young man. I highly recommend this family run Inn/charter to everyone. You absolutely cannot go wrong and you will have an enjoyable experience.
