I tried to add one day to my rental through my online booking. Instead of increasing the price by the cost of one additional day, your system automatically held the original price and downgraded the vehicle. It made no sense that someone who reserved a specific-size vehicle weeks before a vacation would suddenly want to downgrade the car simply because they were adding an extra day.
Your online system did not work properly and created this entire situation.
The smaller electric vehicle would not have worked for my needs. I was not trying to get an extra day for free. I was simply trying to extend my existing reservation by one day and pay for it. Instead, your system held the original budget and downgraded the vehicle without giving me any choice.
This was your system's error, yet you made it my problem. It created a great deal of unnecessary stress and resulted in the worst customer service experience I have ever had renting a car--and I have rented many cars.
I called twice in an attempt to resolve the issue and spoke with the same representative, Mohamed, both times. Although he was unable to help, he said he would leave a note for the local office so they could assist. Mohamed's note was not in my file. Total waste of time. He needs to be properly trained.
Sixt then emailed me stating that I had created the problem by modifying the reservation and that I would have to cancel and rebook it. Because of vehicle availability, this meant I would have to upgrade from an SWAR to a UWAR vehicle, and I would also have been charged a €100 cancellation fee.
