We were guided through the process by Serena, who took the time to give us an in depth tour, even though she was leaving the country for a trip later that afternoon! She answered all of our questions and let us spend time gawking at all the amazing cheese in the Cheese Sanctuary! Not only that, but we happened to visit just before a big Ricotta festival, so Serena's mother, Affa, was busy in the kitchen making spinach & ricotta ravioli...some of the best we've ever had! She invited us to observe her cooking, and then served us a delicious meal, complete with wine, cheese, pasta, and ice cream, all homemade! Affa was the sweetest & most hospitable lady in Italy. We didn't even want to leave, and got many hugs and waves on our way out. We will have those memories for the rest of our lives, and are so fortunate to have picked the best Parmesean fattoria in Italy! I cannot recommend this place enough! If you are a foodie, do yourself a favor and stop by this place for a tour (actually, email first to set a tour appointment!), you will have zero regrets, only a full belly & fond memories! Central location and quiet room. Elevators for the elderly. The signage is abysmal, however, for…read morea first time guest. Most of the elevator buttons are worn off. When you get off onto a floor it is so dark and the signage is so subtle that you have no idea which way to go. Then when you do choose a hallway the room numbers are hidden, not at all visible at eye level. Next, if you get up in the night there is no night light in the bathroom. Poor design again. In fact, the room design is so poor they have to give you a card to explain the operational function of each button. Alternatively, they do have a very good house doctor who will visit you en suite Sue. Cash only however. The bar is quite capable of making a really good Hugo Spritz. It may be one of the best I've had in Italy. Ok, I've had it twice--it's really, really good. The breakfast is good with hot dishes such as runny scrambled eggs and a good choice of cereal and breads. In short this hotel doesn't deserve five stars, but it is a good choice.

We communicated with Davide via email then later FB messenger, and he was very flexible, accommodating, and communicative throughout the process. On the day of, it was supposed to rain but fortunately for us, it didn't! We met with Davide at the Cicleteria right next to the Parma station. Davide got us all set up with bikes and we were on our way! He was great at communicating where we were going and gave turn by turn signals to make sure we didn't get lost. He took us slightly outside the city to our first stop, a parmiagiano-reggiano factory. He had his own equipment so you know he's a regular and knows his stuff! Meanwhile, we got geared up in a protective smock and got to learn about every step of making parmigiano-reggiano cheese (and what goes into make the real stuff)! It was entertaining and a wonderful learning experience! We topped off the experience by getting to try differently aged parmigiano-reggiano cheese and became experts in distinguishing the different flavor profiles ourselves! We also had the chance to buy parmesano reggiano cheese from the cheese factory at a cheaper price. They had other food souvenirs as well. We wanted to try real and local balsamic vinegar, but since the bike ride to a balsamic factory would have taken us too long for our half day tour, Davide scheduled a tasting at Antica Salumeria Alimentaria Rastelli. We got to have a balsamic vinegar tasting, as well as taste some amazing burrata, pickled onions, olives, and Parma ham (prosciutto di Parma). So delicious! Traveling between Milan and Florence we stopped in here to take a break. The staircase down to the toilets is just past the bar around the corner. The restrooms were clean, with an attendant keeping things tidy, and no charge during my visit. The store has a large selection of snacks, gifts items (food and otherwise), and things you may find you need during your travels like aspirin, sunglasses, etc.

Al Santuario di Fiorano Charming Hostel was a beautiful property for our weekend in Fiorano!…read more We checked in around 7pm, and the reception team was fantastic, providing dinner recommendations in the area and helping us arrange transportation during our stay. Thanks Alessia and Maggie! The room and adjoining bathroom were both small, but the open windows and the in room AC helped to circulate air. The room came with complimentary water, a small area for luggage with hangers, and basic bathroom toiletries. The breakfast was delicious and the dining patio was the perfect cozy spot to start each day. Highly recommend visiting this hotel!

They are great and very easy to communicate with. On the day of our tour, our train was delayed due to the snow and rain. We were able to get another train but we would still arrive 10 min late to Parma. I was able to contact Tasty Bus and our guide Silvia. Silvia was able to arrange the bus to pick us up at the station rather than us go to the meeting point. We were so happy we were able to make this tour! Silvia was a great tour guide -- very sweet and knowledgeable. All the places she took us to were wonderful. You got to see all or most of the steps of each process (Parmigiano-Reggiano, prosciutto, traditional balsamic vinegar). If you do the full tour, you have lunch provided. We went to a quaint restaurant called La Tavola del Contado. The food and treats they had was so good.
