The menu has lots of sushi and sashimi choices and many other main courses like teriyaki, tempura, pibimpab and so on. I decided do try the pibimpab which was very nice and freshly made with lots of vegetable, beef and a nice chili sauce. It also came with a miso soup and a small bowl of kimchi. I enjoyed my meal and the service was also great. I am told it's packed during lunch with people who work in the area. It's just outside the Lysaker train station. A good place for a meal which I am sure I will come to again.

My daughter enjoyed the kimchi pancakes and as she is vegetarian, it's nice to find a place that is not too expensive with genuine vegetarian items that are also really tasty. The staff were kind and courteous and inviting , and though they spoke English(like most do) they helped me practice my poor Norwegian when I told them I wished to practice. The Fiskesuppe is flavorful and generous! It has great consistency--neither too dense or thin. My wife ordered a grilled fish that was also wonderful. The menu is straightforward. As is the custom in England, you find a table first and then place your order at the bar. There is a wide selection of beer including some non-alcoholic options. Be sure to remember your table number when you go to place your order at the bar. Your drinks are provided at the bar when you order and food is delivered to your table. I recommend asking for a tray to bring your drinks to your table. There is also a screen displaying train departure times in the seating area. Ordered the fish and chips, which comes with smashed peas, and a 7fyell ale. The fish was hot and tasty, with a light breading. The fish itself was firm and the accompanying tartar sauce was a good compliment to the fish. Personally, I could have used a little more tartar sauce but made do with the amount provided. The chips/fries were hot and crispy, and the server brought along a basket with ketchup, salt, pepper, malt vinegar, and utensils. The smashed peas were a real treat! Service was quick and friendly. A good, convenient stop while in the train station or staying nearby.

We visited the museums at Bygdoy then decided to go there for dinner. Finding the shuttle boat pier was challenging. Google map led us to a residential area then pointed us to someone's back yard. We were lucky to ran i to some locals who were heading to the pier so we followed them. It turned out the entrance road leading ti the pier has a sign as private property, I would never turned into that road on my own. The shuttle only takes 11 people, we were lucky to get the last 3 seats. But I suspect it would run continuously back and forth, not the 30 minutes advertised. The info on the websites are not necessarily correct. We put our names in for a table for dinner, some of the locals are there only for drinks. Food is good, we got the Greenland shrimps, fish & chips, burger with bacon, and a shrimp toast. Since it was the opening date some of the items are not available yet. Seatings are outdoor, they offer blankets in case you get cold. On the way back, the shuttle has already had 8 people, but it came back right away for us.

I'd definitely go there to sit on the bar section of the patio and enjoy a glass of wine or two. We arrived pretty early -before 6 on a Sunday-so only waited like 20 minutes. The menu is really limited and as this is a seasonal restaurant-totally untrained staff. There were about 10 young servers and we probably interacted with 7 different ones-2 tried to take our order, different ones brought food, 1 didn't bring wine we ordered, another never brought the dessert we ordered after 20+ minute wait, and we eventually flagged down the only non-teenager and got our bill. We were quite a large group (about 10), which seemed to baffle the waitress, although we had booked the previous day, and service was generally very slow. As the restaurant was changing their menu at the time, there were a few dishes which were not available, and the kitchen also seemed to be short of quite a few ingredients, meaning that not everyone got to order what they liked. This was a shame, as the menu itself was quite exciting - Prammen aims for Norwegian-European gastro pub fare, including the ubiquitous tapas plate and aioli burger, but also oxtail soup (which, unfortunately, was one of the dishes that were not available). Most of our party ordered burgers or tapas plates - i opted for the antipasti plate (I find it fascinating that this turned out to be a samller selection tapas plate - clearly the people at Prammen are of the opinion that Italians eat less than Spaniards...). I was satisfied, but not thrilled with my meal, the highlight of which was a thoroughly decent aioli. The burgers suffered from "height syndrome" - meaning that the meat-to-other ratio seemed far to large for my liking, but if you are a meat slab person, this would probably not trouble you. The burers were served with a skimpy amount of vegetables and an even more diminuitive amount of sauce, but a generous side of chips with ailoi. As for drinks, Prammen has a fairly standard selection of beers at a standard price for Norwegian conditions (meaning a high one...). The restaurant is part of a bar/eatery/concert hub complex, and the atmosphere is generally good. The interior is also quite cool, and it is a pleasant place to have a pint and chat.

You should come here for THE best breakfast buffet in town!…read more I've had the breakfast here at Grilleriet during my last three stays at the Hotel Folketeateret next door (it's included in the room rate) and in fact the breakfast is the reason why I'm not bothering to try out any other hotels in Oslo - it's the most convincing argument...ever! What's so great about it? - Well, for one it is the sheer amount of variety that makes this breakfast buffet so good. - You could seriously walk up an appetite by simply strolling along it from one end to the other: there's many different kinds of breads - flat breads, rye breads, crunchy breads; then there's a plenty of different cheeses (I love the cumin-flavoured one) and also a nice assortment of cold cuts (such as hams & salamis). Then there's different kinds of smoked or marinated fish, coming with all sorts of condiments. The warm dishes should be mentioned as well: fried or scrambled eggs and a station where you can self-assemble your omelet . The obligatory bacon is there too, but also sausage, some sort of warm liver paté and...very randomly...a warm aubergine salad. The space itself is also fantastic: it's a vast room, but it feels so comfortable and cozy in there that I could hang out there forever. They have a nice mix of small, larger and huge communal tables. (I actually tend to spend my mornings here and set up my computer on one of the communal tables - the hustle and bustle makes my creative juices flow so nicely ;-) As for lunch and dinner, I cannot say much, but I was here with my Norwegian colleague the other day and she said that she had a terrific dinner here as well. Apparently they put chairs around the open kitchen bar and folks can thus watch the chefs preparing the food while eating and chatting. Go, Grilleriet, go!

It irks me because I make reservations specifically so I do not have to wait for a table. This place has no good waiting area either, so you just stand around like a fool trying not to get in anyone's way. Also, when we walked in, it was hard to breathe. I am not sure if the place always smells of oversmoked meats or if they had an issue the evening we were there, but wow, the smell was intense. I had gotten used to the smell by the time we were finally seated. Our server was a little slow, both with service and in the head, but he seemed to try his best with what he was given. All of the above is why I deducted a star, which should tell you how fricken awesome the food was since I typically rate a place quite low if the service wasn't up to par. Now onto the good part: The words that came out of my mouth after the first bite of my steak were something like "now I know why people spend so much money on good food." I am pretty sure I repeated this several times. It was the best steak I had ever had. It was cooked to perfection and so tender I cut through it like it was warm butter (cold butter is not easy to cut through). It is so good it forces you to eat slow because you dread the second that taste is not in your mouth. There were other things on my plate too. There was some type of glazed onion and some potato thing (yes, I am that fancy) and both were quite good, but seriously, don't waste your time with these extras if you get full fast like I do. There are not many places that have service that irks me that can make up for with their food, but Grilleriet definitely did. I would let them verbally abuse me if it meant I got to eat that steak again.
