They really went the extra mile to make sure we were able to see orcas as this was not close by. The pod had a NEW BABY! Such an exciting experience. The location is on the dock on front street above an ice cream place. The staff is super friendly and appreciated my early arrival. We got a short talk about safety and what to expect. Then we donned suits to keep us warm and dry. Tip: use the hat they offer and gloves. The hood doesn't keep the wind from making your ears cold without holding it tight around your face. I ran to the dock and met Captain BJ who would be working with Allison our guide. The was helpful and allowed me to sit up front. I was more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. The boat starts and we leave the harbor. Then we started going really fast which was so awesome! We saw a sea otter playing in the tide current. There were harbor porpoises. But the steller sea lions were enormous and stunning. They were subbing themselves on the rocks. The piece de resistance was the orcas! A pod of orcas was hunting a lone steller sea lion. We must have sat there over an hour. Other boats gathered and we all watched. I'm not shy in admitting I was deeply moved. I cried a bit at how awesome this experience was and seeing beautiful orcas was on my bucket list. My favorite part was that this is a small business. They are locally owned and have a focus on conservation. The boat pulls water from the ocean to propel itself forward which means no gas, propeller or noisy engine that stresses out whales. We stopped to remove a mylar balloon from the water. I love when people practice what they preach! We continued and saw more eagles, rhiocerous ocelot, and more harbor porpoises. By the end my heart was full. Captain BJ said this was his second favorite trip of the year this far. I beamed all the way back to the office to return our gear. Tip: go to the whale museum when it opens at 11am then come here to see real whales. Do this whale watching tour! Best bang for your buck you will ever get!!

We were also impressed with the Captain's professionalism and mariner expertise overall. We always felt safe and also appreciated a willingness to extend our trip time at no cost to ensure we found the Orca pods. The water was choppy on our day out, so we experienced the awesomeness of the Salish Sea as well as her beauty! Our two grandsons, age 12 and 14, really had fun. For all of us, the highlight of the trip was definitely seeing and hanging out with the two incredible Orca pods. It was memorable without compare. The far south end is particularly great for finding sea glass. Be sure to bring ear plugs with you when you are at the south border of the beach. This is where you will meet up with one of the runways of the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, home of the EA-18G Growler electronic attack squadrons. The noise pollution has been part of many lawsuits for years. The Navy has rejected a proposal to move its Growler electronic attack squadrons to a base in Southern California., so the noise issue isn't going away any time soon. If you have ear plugs, it's actually quite a sight to see the growlers take off.

Along the way we saw numerous ospreys, eagles, harbor seals, arctic terns, etc. Although this wasn't advertised as a whale watching tour, we did see a small whale feeding that breached the water nearby at least a dozen times before we returned to La Conner! I live in La Conner and frequently walk my dog down first street around the time people are making their way to the tour. At least two days a week, I encounter customers that are totally lost. Some of them are waking East away from the water and others are walking towards the marina. I even encountered one group a half mile away at the North Basin of the La Conner Marina. I alway tell them how to get to the boat.
