The lake was huge and has boat ramps. We saw some locals fishing on the lake. There are also plenty of trails available for hiking and mountain biking. We only had time to explore one of the trails in the woods and were lucky enough to see so many wild lives such as deer, armadillos and fireflies! I would be here daily if I live in Meridian.

There are also miles of trails / mountain bike trails in the woods surrounding the water that is decently maintained and marked. The trails remind me of a Lone Star Trail or Huntsville State Park and are easy enough for a family to walk through but interesting enough to mountain bike or trail run through. It smells like the piney woods and still feels wild enough inside the forest to make it fun and interesting. We saw a bunch of wildlife; deer, armadillos, fireflies, etc on the hike and did not get to explore all of it. There's also boat launches and easy and free public parking. A great spot if you're ever in Meridian or if you live here, you better be here 5 times a week.

Its an recreational hot-spot with a range of different activities such as camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, BBQ-ing, fishing, hunting and has its own marina at one of its campgrounds and a few cabins are available as well. The day-use parks have picnic tables and basic facilities and some of them also have sandy beaches for swimming access. This is where I would go when wanting to grill in the backwoods and do some out door activities and relax with a few brews at hand. Your free week intro is only 5 days since you can't come on the weekends when it's not staffed. A key is required to get in so as a newbie you have to call to get them to open the door. Convenience would be the only reason to have a membership here. For the money you pay, I prefer a full service facility.

Steve's style strikes a great balance between demanding coach and fun motivating leader. He does a good job of calling attention to proper technique errors without imposing on the workout. He's also superb at keeping the class moving along and on schedule, which is no small feat for a CrossFit class. Everyone at the gym was super friendly and made me feel right at home. As a drop in I felt welcomed like one of their own. CrossFit boxes are far between in this part of the world. If you are either a CrossFitter traveling to Meridian, MS or a local looking to get in great shape, going to Caustic CrossFit is a no brainer. Go there.
