I rented a boat from this store, so my review will be focused on this aspect of it! First and foremost, I have camped at a lot of lake state parks, but I have yet to see one that offers boat rentals the way this state park did, the convenience is unbeatable and I knew they were credible as well! I called about a month in advance and everything was already booked, except for their smallest pontoon, which fits 6 people and and dog friendly, which was exactly what we were looking for - my group had 5 people and a large dog! I made the reservation on the phone and they sent me a Google invite to hold my reservation. No money needed to be put down, which I was pleasantly surprised by, which just made things even easier leading up to the trip. They explained all the pricing, what comes with the boat (a full tank of fuel and many other features), how the security deposit would work (it's a $350 deposit if no one in your group has a Michigan Boater Safety Certificate, $250 if someone does), and all the details on when to show up on the day of our rental! They only do full day rentals in advance. If you wanted a boat for half a day, it'd be first come first serve on the day of, but given when we called all the pontoons were already reserved except for 1, I'd say that the first come first serve nature of boat renting is not going to work on any weekend in the summertime, holiday weekend or not! But all the paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks are also first come first serve no matter what, and those were all still in stock when we went in to pick up our boat first thing in the morning. The day of our rental, we showed up at 9 am I believe (we have the boat from 9 am - 6 pm) and they took our payment at the office and showed us the general layout of the entire lake and things to watch out for in certain areas of the lake on the boat, which was much appreciated! Then we went to the boat, where they showed us how to work it all and where all the items we might need were as we got settled. Then they tendered us out to the deeper part of the water where we could start the engine and start driving and the rest of the day was ours! It was a magical day on the boat and exploring the whole breadth of Higgins Lake, which honestly was such an amazing lake to be on! Coming back in was just as easy! One of our group jumped out to tender our boat in when the water got too shallow for the engine to continue and because this was around the time when everyone was bringing their rental boats back in, there were park store employees at the dock helping to secure the boats and inspect our boats, which then allowed us to get our safety deposit refund! The process was super simple, quick, and straightforward and I would rent a boat from South Higgins Lake Park Store again in a heartbeat! Next time I'm planning to come to this lake, they will definitely be getting another phone call from me! Thanks for such a positive experience!!

I made the unfortunate decision to reserve site #16 at this park. It was listed as E/W/S. There…read moreis no sewer hookup on site #16. What they did was put a "Y" pvc fitting on the sewer hookup on site #18 and wallah, a new sewer port. The problem being it's 50 - 60 feet from your rig when backed in properly on site #16, let alone you would need to jack your trailer up a good foot to get enough downhill slope of your sewer hose. Besides that, who carries 50 - 60 feet of sewer hose unless you are a long-term seasonal. This is not an over site by the park as it has been this way for a number of years according to a seasonal resident. It is wrong to list and charge for a sewer hookup for site #16.

I came across this company searching for local tubing opportunities, and while reviews were scarce, we were not disappointed. The Cedar River is clean and crystal clear. Our pick up was on time and the owner was incredibly friendly in the way mid-Michiganders always are. Driving into the course you are met by a very professional and classy sign denoting the golf course by name. A long, winding and picturesque drive eventually gets you to the pro shop. Let's get to the good stuff right away.... PROS: -staff is superb, friendly, professional and always smiling. -range balls are free with the purchase of your round. -the horticulture around the course is well maintained and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. -definitely a challenging course for players of all skill levels -lightning fast greens -turf was very well-maintained and in great shape. -BYOB! They don't have a liquor license so bring your own and save! They have all the ice you need and coolers on the carts. -plenty of water stations on the course -off the tee most fairways are wide open and allow for those who may not hit the straight ball each time to still make a second shot. - greens fees include cart CONS: -a bit in the pricey side for a golf course near West Branch MI. $80 is a bit much. -under-rated by the PGA. 130 slope from the whites is not accurate. The helmets provided were clean and fit well. The staff was great and really took the time to show us the vehicle, the GPS system, and to provide suggested routes that included some great stops for lunch, etc. Their reccommendations really helped us find our way. The GPS system led us through beautiful trails, and some super fun spots to get through. They were chill about dirt on the vehicles, and I saw them cleaning the units after they were returned. We got our security deposit back fast. At check in and check out, they take pictures of the vehicle and we did our own inspection as well. Very sensible process. The units had plenty of power and were very comfortable. The trails are bumpy, of course, but the suspension took most of that out. They give advice about what not to do on the trails, and listen to them. Several spots were trouble, you dont want to roll or break one of these things. The police on their own 4x4 were out on the trails keeping things safe. One tip, be very careful on the roadside, the cars whiz by and hand signals are heavily required. They brief you on all of this so listen! Overall a great rental for a very reasonable price, in an amazing location. We'll be back!

Greens were ok but, not great by any means. About 1/2 way through our round we finally saw someone mowing. They were mowing around the green we were playing to. Most courses will pull off and let you finish the hole. Not here! We waited a good 10 minutes to shoot our approach shot while the guy took his sweet time. Golf here if you want but, I will not spend another dime of my money here. For not much more you can play a course that is MUCH nicer.

The West Branch Country Club is a great golf course with some of the best greens in Michigan. Before every round, the simple reality is that the pro-shop can get things off to a good start. Kyle and the others seem very efficient and eager to keep everyone moving. The supply of golfing apparel and accessories is adequate. I know my wife finds something every time she is in there. Keep up the good work!
