The acidic and anaerobic nature of the peat bog was so effective at preserving these bodies that we even knew what the men had been eating. And even more interesting - the methods that had been used to MURDER them so long ago. Because these men had not just randomly fallen into the bog, oh no; there are all sorts of things to learn including why the nipples were cut off! But I will refrain from going in to more detail. If you are interested, and are in Dublin, you MUST go there yourself. It is free so you have no excuse not to. Well, unless you are not interested in things such as I described here. Whatever. Note: there is not a cafe in the museum, and no storage lockers for your bag. Also, I thought the gift shop was pretty boring as it had very few things that were relevant to the museum displays. Which is disappointing as the museum artifacts themselves are very local and specific to Ireland and are extremely interesting.

An amazing and quintessentially Irish prehistoric tomb. To gain access, you have to call to the…read morehouse of Mr. Fintan White (call 01 8354722 before 6pm) which is just a mile west of the Tomb -turn left at the Y-junction with the white and green house, go straight up the narrow track where the main road turns left. Whites' house is some distance up here - the 5th on the right.is the fifth house on the right. Don't worry, it's signposted! It's an amazing opportunity to get a private view of a megalithic passage tomb, smaller than Newgrange but just as eerie. The roof, which looks like a green mound from the outside, is artificial and was put in place to preserve the remains of the tomb. Inside, it takes the eyes a few minutes to adjust to the gloom,but once they do, the carvings and chambers are visible. Standing in a sacred space of your ancestors is a pretty cool thing. Apparently the entrance is aligned with the movement of the sun, as is Newgrange. Well worth a visit.

Not really suitable for very young kids, 'cos they want to touch and play with the toys (some of which are hundred of years old). Tara's Palace itself is stunning - full of miniature antiques - the tiny books in the library are actually real books. I could have spent the day there, but my niece and nephew wanted to go to the playground (which is out of this world). All in all, we had a fantastic day out - thoroughly recommend a visit.

He is so knowledgeable and so very passionate about everything in there. I could have listened to him speak all day if I had more time before my train. If you're a radio enthusiast or just curious about the story of communications, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time here. The 5€ - 3€ if you're a student - are worth every cent and you also get a pretty Howth postcard in lieu of a ticket. This museum is absolutely stuffed to the ceiling with radios old and new, telegraphs, amateur kits, posters and paintings, novelty items from the 20th century and everything else you can think of that's even remotely related to radio. Some of the displays are still a bit cluttered and unlit, but it's a work in progress and you'll be able to see everything you want to. Our guide, Richard, was clearly a radio enthusiast himself and gave as brilliant tour of the place, answering our questions and speaking with true passion about everything. He'll show you how even the older and more rudimentary equipments still work and amaze you with the demonstrations of this simple yet powerful set of technologies. If you're visiting this part of Dublin, I vividly recommend visiting the Hurdy Gurdy Museum.

I brought my niece and nephew (five year old twins!) here a few weeks ago. I was not too sure what…read moreto expect but I had heard good things about the place and it seemed like a good idea for occupying two energetic children for two hours on a rainy day! The building looks amazing from the outside, very impressive architecture and its distinctiveness is reflected inside the building once you enter. It cost us €34 for two five year olds and two adults which I thought was a bit much, I didn't expect the adult and child price to be the same. Adults are encouraged to go in and play with their children which is great but there are attendants walking around keeping an eye on the children also (for when you want a rest!). The "museum" is laid out in different areas, there is a kitchen, a construction area, a TV studio, an art room and lots more... running through the centre of the building is a climbing frame which was the biggest attraction for my niece and nephew, it certainly provided exercise for the parents that were running up and down the stairs trying to keep track of their climbing kids! The boy and girl I brought also loved dressing up in the TV studio area, they even got their faces painted after a bit of a wait. Although there were lots of children in the building I never felt that any one area was too crowded which was good, although there were queues for things such as the face painting. There is an area that is provided for babies but in my opinion the section is very sparse and did not have anything that would entertain a very young child for very long. I only saw one baby there during my visit and he didn't look too happy! I don't think that Imaginosity would hold the interest of older children either, I think a child over the age of eight or so would get bored fairly quickly because these days children I know above the age of eight are not as interested in "playing house" or "make believe" and that is what Imaginosity is all about. There is a restaurant where you can get some refreshments but I found it to be very expensive, if I were to go again I would definitely bring my own drinks and snacks for the children. All in all it is an entertaining place for children (it even disguises a bit of education in fun), it is unique and I do not know of any other place like it in Dublin. In my opinion it is suitable for children between the ages of three and eight but outside of these ages you are wasting your money. Also I would maximise the value for my money by only having one adult for a group of children rather than an adult per child like we did. Oh, and don't wear heels!

I don't know if we got lucky the day we came or if they have a cap on how many tickets they sell, but it did feel like the group/people allowed in was buffered, which kept the experience feeling more intimate/less crowded. There is plenty to see and multiple floors to explore so we were easily here three hours walking all about and taking in the different exhibits. My favorite exhibit was where they paid homage to the musical influences and artists of Ireland. I found this section to be the most interesting for me personally and it was well done. Honestly, there was so much to see, you could easily come back a few times to really take it all in. For the price it is worth it and a great way to spend a few hours in Dublin. I would highly recommend stopping here.
