Rented my girls skis at this location on the way to Purg. We arrived too late the night, but it would have been a 2 hour wait to get the rentals due to the amount of people renting on Sunday night. Found my ski service and store in Durango. Upon the recommendation of my friend who is a local, rented gear for my son and bought a couple little extras for the outing. I also needed advice on binding adjustment on my own skies. Not only were they WAY more than happy to help for free but offered to handle all the adjustments and testing of the bindings right there for a VERY reasonable price which I jumped at. The binding adjustment was perfect through the week at Purgatory and Telluride and I was way more confident than if I had done it myself. Awesome, friendly and knowledgeable staff and nice convenient in-town store. When I return to Durango, I will always return to Ski Barn and would recommend them to anyone. read more

They started off great, then went down hill (pardon the pun). After having a series of bad experiences with another ski shop, I called Ski Barn. The guy that answered the phone was very nice and helpful and seemed to want my business. Then I met with Jason and wow, by far the best boot fitter and overall customer service I've ever experienced at a ski shop. Then, after spending a little over $2k, I went to pick up my equipment, and I was treated like I had offended them. They didn't discuss my purchase with me, talk warranties, explain binding settings, offer any kind of follow up or anything. Basically were just rude and seemed to want me gone. Hmm... such a weird change of attitudes. So, three stars for now, and we'll see how my next interactions with them go. I'm very willing to change my rating. read more

The store had a great supply and really nice ski gear. Took my family there while we were here skiing for spring break. We came in 30 minutes before closing. The staff knew we were there and told us to take our time and assured us we were fine. We loaded up on a bunch of great gear and went to check out right at closing (literally 6:00). The staff said they had already closed out the registers and said we could come back the next day if we wanted. The sale was great and we were looking forward to taking serious advantage of it. I bought some skis from Bill at the Ski Barn during the Ski Swap in Albuquerque. After the first season we noticed a defect and contacted the ski manufacturer to have it fixed. They referred us back to Ski Barn and to their credit Ski Barn took up the issue with the manufacturer on our behalf and it was resolved to our full satisfaction. Not all retailers demonstrate this level of support and integrity. I highly recommend Ski Barn and greatly appreciate how they helped us get a positive outcome. read more

Went to rent some ski boots this Saturday morning before hitting the slopes. With recent snow it was sure to be a busy day and we had high hopes of getting up there early. Ski Barn crushed all hopes of an early morning- service was extremely slow, no one seemed to have customer throughput or even good service in mind. We waited at least 45 minutes to get one pair of ski boots. The boots were in poor repair- had plastic sticking out and would not stay latched. Upon returning the boots we had a equally slow experience just trying to turn the boots in. This used to be our go to spot... but now we have sworn never to return. Unfortunate. read more

We went up to Purgatory to rent skis today and it took FOREVER. Purgatory would not allow us to rent for more than a day, so we came to town and were In and Out in HALF the time than the Purgatory rental place. Best ski boot fitting I've ever had! Erica and Brad were amazing! We were in need of gear for our family of 6. 3 skiers and 3 snowboarders. We needed everything from boots and skis/boards to coats, helmets and goggles. Erica and Brad could just about look at our feet and pick the perfect boot for each of us. Brad carefully and patiently adjusted our boots and fitted 'orthotic' liners. I opted for the heated boot insert and absolutely LOVE them! At their suggestion- we went to the Ski Barn's other location and found additional helmets, coats and hiking boots. Also, they didn't have some of the right gear/sizes for our snowboarders so they sent us to another shop for that stuff. Also, we met the owner and he was just as awesome! I was going to give these guys a great review anyway, but they really went above and beyond today. First of all, they were all super friendly with us, and helped our young kids out with their first time ski rentals. Purgatory told us they were a bunch of greens open, and there were not. So we stopped in there and Rick took excellent care of us, got our son fitted with boots that were "1000x better" than the rentals on the mountain according to our son. I've been a customer for over 10 years without a complaint. Recently my skis delaminated and the warranty had just run out. They were able to get them covered and when replacements from the same manufacturer were not available arranged a store credit for me to get new skis. I came in at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday. I went downstairs and meet their expert boot fitter Mark. He assessed my fit ,formulated a plan and went to it. I purchased a custom pair of orthotics and had my liners re-shimmed ,then nabbed a pair of super thin ski socks. My overall purchase experience was five star. I would definitely recommend them. I've always hated choppy snow; with the custom foot beds the heels fit well & give direct input to the skis with excellent control of the tails. I cannot recommend Ski Barn enough! My boyfriend and I drove the hour from our motel in Pagosa Springs to their establishment after using rental skis from another retailer the previous day and deciding we would suffer no more! We made a boot fitting appointment in advance and wow(!) what an experience! We were given guidance on the unique needs of our foot and heel types and tried on multiple pairs of boots until the fit was just perfect. Not only do we each own the the best fitting boots we've ever had, we also purchased skis that day and had them ready to go asap. The day before, on our rentals, we had numb feet, aching legs, and barely lasted more than half a day on the slopes. Immediately after, we've had the most fun ever on our skis and stay to the very last run at every place we've been to since! It doesn't matter where we ski next season, Ski Barn will be our first stop for getting snow ready! read more

Me and my 16-year-old son had never been skiing and were quite clueless about the gear. The guys at Ski Barn were real patient and helpful in walking us through all the needed items. They even checked the weather at Purgatory and didn't up sell us on needless goggles/eyewear, though they made sure we at least had some sunglasses. We rented skis, a board, helmets and boots.
