Onder does incredible work!! He helped me refurbish and clean a secondhand vintage Coach ergo. Came out looking amazing! His shop is slightly hard to find. There's not much signage, but basically you enter on 20th St. There's a black sliding metal door you go through first and then you walk downstairs to his shop. He's also very responsive via text and finished the bag before our agreed upon date. Definitely will be bringing any other leather pieces I have to him! read more

Onder is a true craftsman. I brought in my favorite belt from the early 90's (completely thrashed but I still love it) so that he could make a new belt and sew my old buckle onto it. While perusing his wall of belts, I gravitated to the most beautiful belt I've ever seen, with a flowing wave of shiny silver brads and smaller waves etched into the leather. It's absolutely stunning. I also found a vintage brass buckle to jazz up another belt of mine. It felt like Christmas came early. read more

I am so impressed with the level of customer service that Onder displayed. I had a beer spill on my leather couch, and he offered to come over and treat it himself, for a very, very reasonable price. He gave me his personal cell so that I could send him a picture once the treatment dried, and then so he could come over the next day with the appropriate supplies for a second coating. I have a beautiful Moroccan leather coat that tore right open along a seam in the San Francisco airport. It was the only coat I had with me, and I had an important dinner I was planning to wear it to that evening. I figured I was screwed, but my wife started looking online, and found Skin On Skins. Onder repaired my coat so beautifully that you can't even see where it was damaged unless you look really close. Onder is da man! After reading the reviews, we took a one-off project to him for help. We did our best with dimensions and he built to perfect measures as we had laid out. When I went to pick up, he initiated saying how he understood the odd shape of our work made if difficult to know if the measures are right - or not. So, he continued, after we tried it out if it didn't work right he said to bring it back and he would fix it. That is exactly what happened. In real life our measures needed adjusting and true to his work, he dove it to get it right with his consistent pleasant and engaging manner. Huge thumbs up. Better than I could've hoped for. I needed the straps of a bag shortened as well as a belt. The job was done with precision and care. Worth noting more than anything was how welcoming the experience was. The person who helped me (perhaps the owner) asked me questions about myself and made good conversation that didn't feel forced. Onder fixed my bag perfectly. He used a different piece of leather to attach a buckle that broke off and I can't even tell the difference. I took the purse elsewhere and I was told it's not repairable but not with Onder! His prices are fair and he's a lovely person to work with. Great experience here. My twenty year old wallet was barely hanging on so decided to replace, saw this leather craft storefront on Mission street, walked in and met Onder. He matched it for me (as I desired) and after going over leather options and hardware kicked out a beautiful new wallet I expect to last next twenty years. Good work, good price, and a fantastic turnaround time. I have a leather coat that was in need of what I thought was a fairly minor repair. A snap was coming apart and threatening to rip loose and tear the leather. Three different 4+ star rated tailors turned me away though; with one suggesting that I go to a *shoe* repair place. Not wanting to to treat one of my favorite winter coats like mere footwear, I went searching for a leather specialist and found my way to Skin on Skins. The owner had a look, said it was an easy repair, and offered to do it for $20, and in just one hour. I popped off for lunch at my favorite burrito place. When I came back an hour later, my coat was good to go, as promised. You can barely tell there was any work done, and that's just because the replacement snap he had in stock was not an exact match for the original. But that's entirely understandable though, and the difference is negligible. In fact, if I have any difficulty with any of the remaining original snaps, I'll happily bring the coat back and have them all swapped. read more
