It's been many years, but I'm compelled to write this review to ensure that the legacy of plastic…read moresurgeon Jan Wieslander is accurately reflected. It's now been 16 years since I suffered the most horrific experience at Plastikkirurgiska Institutet in Malmo, Sweden. Jan B Wieslander performed a procedure he should have been well aware of would cause serious complications. He injected fat in my face, in a way that could be considered random (he was meant to target scars), leaving me with lumps and fat loss. He left me with severe scarring underneath my skin, due to the aggressive nature of how he performed the procedure. It should be noted that I woke up on his surgical table with several stitches in my face, and that he NEVER told me prior to being sedated, that he would do any stitches at all. Imagine, waking up having stitches all over your face when your were told only injections would be made. It is exactly the horror movie it sounds like. If Jan Wieslander's catastrophic procedure was not enough, his behaviour and manner after the surgery was nothing but shocking. After the surgery, he refused to speak with me and then, while I was in complete shock after the procedure, his staff more or less threw me out of his clinic. I was later told on the phone that I could remove the stitches myself, there was no need for him to ever see me again. Now everyone reading this, should know that plastic surgeon Jan Wieslander felt it appropriate to cut and do stitches in the most visible places of my face, despite the treatment in the first place being for scars. He decided to make large cuts in the middle of my forehead and cheek, amongst other places. Jan Wieslander have during these years threatened me when I've written truthful reviews. I say to you now Jan Wieslander, please feel free to do so again, please give me the platform to publish all the evidence that I've kept of your heartbreaking actions, as well as numerous accounts from accredited doctors, who testify to your damage. One of which so correctly reflects on what you did: "he really did a number on you, didn't he". That is your legacy, Jan Wieslander.

Okay, so doctors in Denmark. It's a touchy subject. Most Danes rarely go to their doctors. As an…read moreAmerican, I'm willing to acknowledge that I may perhaps rely too heavily on them. It is what it is. Karen is my third GP (general practitioner) that I've had since I've moved to Copenhagen. I switched to her recently because I was less than satisfied with the service of my previous doctor, also located in Frederiksberg. I took a risk, paid the 185kr for a new yellow card with a new doctor's name on it, and started from square one. I have visited Karen probably about six or seven times since I changed to her last spring. This is the nature of primary care in Denmark, and not necessarily reflective of the service received. Karen has ten minutes scheduled per patient, and if you don't get things resolved, you have to come back. Again and again. Where it's rough is that she has so many patients that the waiting time to get an appointment is often three weeks. It makes follow up on anything pretty difficult. All of that said, I have learned that if you schedule an appointment with her 'just to talk' before you get sick (or in my case, afterward), she is quite helpful at shedding light on how things work, and is more willing to take a more holistic approach to your care. She is otherwise a victim of lack of time, like most GPs in the area, and will likely not be as comprehensive as you might hope when you go in with more than just a cold. Unlike some archaic doctors in the area, she has a call queuing system installed so when you call in during her phone consultation window, you never get a busy signal. Nothing is more frustrating than being deathly ill and having to make 76 repeat phone calls to your doctor in an hour timespan just to get through, so I find this to be a very important bonus. She has always been very helpful on the phone and in getting same day appointments for urgent problems, and is quite responsive over email with prescription renewals (via cure4you) too. I give three stars because I expect more from general practitioners here, and have something to compare it to, albeit that experience is rooted outside of the country. I would love to someday update this post and change it to five.

This doctor was not only unable/unwilling to help me with a simple blood sample (which is a…read morestandard procedure, at least in other European countries I lived) but also lacks complete empathy for her patients. Would definitely not recommend going here.
