My friends and I hanging out in our first Aerial Yoga class with Amber
    Artemis A.

I have actively do 10-12 minutes of yoga before and after a workout to enhance performance and to prevent injuries but lately I've wanted to take yoga to the next level. Especially, after suffering from chronic migraines due to spinal problems, I did some research and discovered Aerial Yoga. Aerial Yoga is exactly what I'm looking for, hanging from the hammocks in different positions allows the spine to decompress while also increasing flexibility and strength. I love that Sky Gym is not far from Atlanta and is easy to find. The facility is great inside and out; From the moment I walked in I was immediately greeted and can tell that everyone there (staff and customers) are friendly. Everyone looked very relaxed and like they are having lots of fun. Sky Gym is such a great and friendly atmosphere to be in. Not to mention parking is free, easy and there are plenty of it when I went on Thursday afternoon. The classrooms have restrooms located inside so you don't even have to leave the room and be face with the outside world once you have entered the state of bliss. I took Aerial Yoga with Amber Monson, she is very patient and professional. When the session started her voice was very gentle and soothing, putting you in a state of relaxation. Her instructions are very clear and simple for anyone to follow, even if you have never done yoga before. The moment we started I felt the weight of the world float away then I felt my muscles engage and finally loosen up at the end of the session. The class size limit is one of my favorite aspects, Amber walked around and assisted each of us as we needed help with more difficult poses. With the guidance of her voice I was able to do my first shoulder stand, it was such an amazing feeling! I felt sore after class but it wasn't until the next morning when I really felt sore. This class has challenged me physically and mentally, it is exactly what I need and I can't wait to go back!

Go to Sky Gym. Because who doesn't secretly want to be in the circus?! I have been practicing aerial silks for a little over 2 years now! I have been to a wide variety of studios all around the country. I am proud to call Sky Gym my home gym! Aerial arts are literally for everyone. You don't have to be the strongest or most flexible person to try it! It is such an amazing, gratifying workout. The more you go, the stronger you get. I would 100% recommend this to anyone and everyone. Don't be afraid to try something new! I know it can be intimidating to try something so out-of-the-ordinary but you will feel welcome and safe. Amber, the owner, is very big on safety and makes sure if you are new that you feel secure and work at your level. Everyone who goes there is friendly and will make you feel welcome! I have taken a variety of classes with a variety of teachers here! Kara's silks classes are SO fun, she will keep you laughing and smiling the entire class! Porch's acroyoga will inspire you and make you want to stay for hours longer (unfortunately the class is only an hour but I would love for it to be at least 1.5 hours!) Rain's aerial yoga is relaxing and intimate. And as if Amber's amazing biceps aren't enough motivation to push yourself to get stronger and climb higher, her passion keeps you coming back. The first aerial silks class I took at Sky Gym was in their old location inside Wall Crawlers. Since then they have moved to the most gorgeous space. Amber seems to be constantly working to make the gym better and have even more class offerings. The space is very open and filled with light. They keep it very clean, which is appreciated as you roll around barefoot on the mats! :) My only warning is that once you go to a class at Sky Gym-- you. will. be. addicted.

I was not entirely sure at first as I did not see many guys at the gym and was sure that my friends would tease me but once I took my first class I was hooked. I began in January and wasn't able to even do a pull-up; I had let myself go for a while. Thanks to the training of Amber, Kara, and Porch I have been progressing safely and quickly in strength and learning new moves every time I go. The leveling structure is different than many other places which use a much more ad-hoc training method. Instead of just saying here try this they have different difficulty levels to ensure that all their students learn moves within certain strength and skill groupings. This ensures a safe progression for all ages. Stronger people progress more quickly up until a point where strength and technique balance out. It has been four months of pushing myself very hard and I can now climb the silks twenty feet up without using my legs at all. I will say that the clientele is possible even better than the gym by itself as we have become a wonderful acrobatic family. So please come join us and bring a smile.

On my first day !!!!! Can't wait to save my coins for more classes

Amazing !! Kind of pricey but well worth it. I learned so much with the one monthly groupon. I can't wait to return. Over time you will get use to the smell of feet.

It began at 7pm and the class was 1 hour long. The building is a bit hidden from the main road but is off of Peachtree Industrial Blvd in Suwanee. Maggie was absolutely phenomenal. I had to speak to her on the phone because I had some trouble signing up for the class and she helped me so much and was so patient. She greeted us when we came in and made me feel so comfortable. The class had 4 people. There were 2 silks with mats set up in the center of the room. (Maggie mentioned that she recently ordered 2 more mats so she can have 2 more silks set up). The room was pretty big but because there were 4 of us, it was intimate and not as intimidating. Because it's a beginners class, there needs to be a lot of help from Maggie to show and spot, so I can imagine- the smaller the class the better ! We started off warming up with various stretches. I loved how quickly she moved from one stretch to another. It was a really good warm up. Haha. I broke a sweat from that alone. Then, we paired up on the mat and Maggie showed us one move/pose and we'd try. We were able to try a lot of different poses. Overall, it was a GREAT workout from head to toe. The arms, core, glutes, legs. I usually don't get sore until 2 days after working out but I'm already feeling it as I walked out of the class. Very good experience and workout!

Park free in the small lot or the Publix parking deck across the street. Our instructor CoCo patiently waited for my crew, but the clock was running because of other bookings. The environment is cool and clean with cubbies for personal items/shoes. You enter the mat barefoot or in socks. The website mentions 30-minute-high intensity low impact cardio classes, indoor water rowers, aerial sling yoga to release tension etc. We had a P-Valley themed party, so I knew it was going down! We each picked a Sky Barre nickname and CoCo broke down the routine into steps. I haven't worked out in awhile and I have zero upper body strength, so I was nervous but willing to try. I couldn't do some of the moves but CoCo made modifications. It's not easy. Initially, it felt like the aerial silks were burning into my feet, butt and side. But it's more discomfort than pain and she said you get used to it. An hour wasn't enough time to learn the routine. But you are your own audience so it's more about feeling confident, getting out of your head and having fun! We had a glow party under blacklights, so highlighter colors really pop! The lights were dimmed, the track was played, and we killed our routine. Not! We did it 2x and I still forgot half the moves! The best part is how sexy you feel if you let yourself go. But when I played the video later it was more like the rhythmless nation! At the end we cheered each other on as we freestyle danced in a circle. Water was provided and we said our goodbyes. Sky Barre core + cardio = full body workout. I was sore for few days but it was worth it! Memberships start at $150 (1 hr a week, 12 drop-ins per month). There's a $99 3-week unlimited beginner class promo for newbies. If you can afford it and you're brave enough to try, drop in for a fun, creative workout. I recommend!
