So friendly I wish I could move in…read more The Mountains would be lost without Glenbrook Cinema, a little one-screen independent movie theatre here since 1968. With so many of Sydney's indie cinemas long gone, Glenbrook has made a perfect niche for itself, showing everything from the latest blockbuster to world cinema releases, all mostly with a run for a single week. So you have to be organised to make sure you don't miss something, but at $10 for all tickets (yes, really) you can even take a risk on showing up and seeing whatever's on. The screen does not block out all concept of peripheral vision, the sounds is not felt in the solar plexus rather than heard, the seats comfy and you can get a cup of coffee in a real cup and saucer with a bikkie on the side. Session times vary, so check the website. And the staff are lovely. I saw 'Agora' here recently and no-one pointed and stared at the poor weeping lady overcome at the fate of female philosophers. I'll be up again this week for 'Jane Eyre', being a sucker for corsets, repression and windswept moors in close proximity. No laughing if the urge for Kate Bush dance moves becomes too much, please.

Glenbrook Cinema has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff there are very friendly and eager to…read morehelp. However, due to there only being one available theatre, the options on what movie to see are limited. The screen itself is also very small. Overall, Glenbrook Cinema is good, it is great to support a small business and it has a great vintage atmosphere but the movies on show don't have that same 'epic' feel that movies at hoyts sometimes do.

Been going to this cinema for ages .. at least over 10 years lol!!…read moreHave seen this place at its "Worst" which wasn't that bad but alot of people must of only experienced gold class in their lifetime possibly and now today at it's extensive upgrade which is still bad for some.. oh well can't please them all ;) Premium tickets were only $13.. the cinema sests are vinyl and full recliners accompanied with a small table and cup holder.. feeling pretty special haha ;)!! Cinema food is the same you'd get anywhere else naturally, I'm a big choc top kind of guy like 2 - 3 at a time lol.. dont go to the movies everyday luckily ;)!! but suprisingly you couldn't buy a coffee at the cinema.. seems pretty standard these days haha, they had a great cafe just outside the entrance for my caffeine fix :). The cinema location is great, if your there during the daytime you could spend a whole day there with Costco and Anaconda down the road and then the rest of adventure and other shops in the cinema complex and for the night time you have the 24 hour maccers and Krispys on the other side of the road for those tasty treats before or after yohr movie :) This place will always be a favorite cause of the location, the comfortablefactor and cheap movie tickets :)!!

This was the most filthy, mismanaged, shit hole of a cinema I've ever been to…read more We went at midday on a Sunday. There were three people behind the counter and about 20-30 people waiting in queue. First red flag was that there weren't enough employees, or employees doing their job so shitty that they managed to create a queue of people on a Sunday. They were out of large popcorn. Let me repeat: THEY WERE "OUT" OF LARGE POPCORN. HOW. DAMN well order the larger cardboard popcorn boxes. Maybe learn how to run a business? Everyone tells me that a theatres major source of income is the food and drink yet they can't even offer what people want? Larger flipping boxes?!? They were also out of choc tops??? I'm only a little mad. The lobby was literally falling apart. The carpet was matted, the tiled floors were sticky as if they hadn't been cleaned in eons. The theater had also not been cleaned. There was trash still in the seats and we had to claw out way to sit down. SURE - the tickets are cheap but in no way is it a worthwhile experience.

The cinema that ruins every other cinema experience for ever more…read more Quite simply the finest, classiest, most demure, seductive, charming and good old-fashioned fun cinema experience in Sydney and quite possibly the universe. Every time you visit a soulless megaplex after your time at Hayden Orpheum it will be a singularly disappointing experience bereft of any aesthetics or cultural value because really, how can anything compare? The cinemas are stunning art deco, they sell old-school choc tops, there's a solid program of the latest blockbusters and art house / doco fare, and they have insanely fun cult classics like a monthly interactive showing of the word movie ever made, The Room. There are love seats in the main cinema, and a freaking organ that rises up out of the floor for matinee performances. I know right! What what all the way. Best.

The Orpheum has kept it's gorgeous original deco interiors and exteriors intact, and the last time I visited (John Cleese triple bill including the Life Of Brian on Easter Sunday- kudos Orpheum!), there was a vintage pianist playing the grand piano in the lobby. I would love to see a silent movie thing here and I would bet money that they do them, it's that kind of place. Check out retro cinema Sundays- awesome and affordable triple bills that people dress up for. Old school wholesome entertainment, I love it.

Situated on the Pacific Highway in Roseville, the cinema centre advertises a range of quality films. Never see a bad film at this cinema! Despite marketing to an older demographic, there is almost always a film for the young adult genre. Enjoy the ambiance of a bygone era, with 1930's decor. Choc tops, sorbet and popcorn populate the menu. Don't sit in the aisle seat; it's a little chilly with the air conditioning. Wheel chair access is available, with an electronic seat to transport disabled or elderly patrons up the flight of stairs. If you fancy a bite to eat, there are plenty of restaurants located nearby. There are only two screens, but they make them work. And they handmake the choctops! It really doesn't get better than that.

And the bathrooms, the smell as soon as you walk in its horrendous, it hits you full force and you literally have to hold your breath and this is female bathrooms. With the Lack of general cleaning, I will be avoiding this place until the step up their game. Oh and the price of the tickets and popcorn is highway robbery.
