Unity on the Avenue is awesome, albeit small (provided you are of the churchy persuasion). There's only one service on Sundays, and it's at 10am. Reverend Sue is a positive woman with a positive message. She's sincere, and genuine, and just a goodhearted person. The music is usually great, with several of the congregation members stepping up weekly to be showcased with their singing and/or piano playing. We applaud after (and sometimes during) songs, we dress casually for services, we have a good spread of food after each service. There's hugging and hand-holding during the service typically, so be prepared for the touchy-feelies. Everyone's welcome and treated like family. If you're looking for a new spot, check out Unity on the Avenue. I should mention that we're kind of a New-Agey bunch, but if that doesn't scare you away, then by all means, drop by. It's good people.

They are pro science and environmentally conscious, and the congregation is truly friendly and caring. I come all the way from Thornton to worship there and it's definitely worth the drive. There is a good balance of families, single folks, and empty nesters there, my kids always have fun. It's so nice to be a part of a Christian community that shares my values.

Everyone is friendly and we have made some friends here. It is great how socially progressive the church is and is always nice to go to a church where people don't seem to judge you. The problem with this one is that there seems to be a flux of worshippers that come and go. Some people say they have issues with the church and go somewhere else. I guess that goes without saying many churches are often that way. However then the church gets its own status quo shake ups with the staff and Rev. Emily has(or wants to or is encouraged to) to quit or is encouraged to resign or whatever. Many people leave because she is gone and so on. It is sad to hear such internal politics in such a socially progressive church seems to mirror what happens in most churches. OF COURSE there are changes to be expected with church staff and people come and go but nevertheless thing ending in bad blood in this kind of setting is not becoming to the worshippers or to reputation. Time went on and my partner and I attempted to reconnect with Rev. Emily on Facebook since we were so fond of her in which we did reestablish connections for a very brief time until she severed the friend link with us. This action seems kind of hypocritical since she is still 'friends' with many other people that went to see her when she worked at this church and gave us the feel of alienation. In the end we both feel very alienated not only from the bureaucratic politics that surfaced in this progressive church and from the former pastor. Steven, my partner is still trying to fill that void that was created(despite us moving to another town as well) by the church and everything that went on there. Again since I do not get quite so into religion like he does it is not quite as upsetting to me but there is a social outlet that is clearly missing even after we have 'shopped' around at other churches. Not to say this place has become hostile to gays and lesbians anyone who wants to try this church SHOULD give it a try and I hope they leave with a better taste in their mouth.

I belong to a small church in northern Colorado and was missing going to church while I was staying in Denver. I found this church on the internet. It was close to where I was staying so I decided to give it a try. I like smaller churches as you are not just a number but get to know all of the people you worship with every week. Fellowship is important to me. The service was very nice. Some things were traditional and a lot of things we new and refreshing. The sermon gave you something to take away with you. I was warmly welcomed and spoke to many of the members after the service. If I lived in Denver permanently, this would definitely by my new church home! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

If you're a foodie, Disciple Denver is the right place for you. Lots of passionate discussions and fun outings to delicious places to eat. And in between meals, deep dives into the Christian faith. What do you believe? Why do you believe it? How is it different from other denominations and faiths? Open and honest discussions filled with curiosity and compassion. The fact we joke about how obsessed Korean culture is with guilt and judgement helps us overcome those obstacles (well, at least we try to). I'm a transplant from SoCal and the past few years at Disciple Denver has helped my family transition to life in Colorado. My kids go to Korean School and the AWANA program during the week too. The family community group is great (again, we eat well). The only knock against Disciple Denver? Not enough Lakers and Dodgers fans.

I'd give some specific shout-outs, but out of fear of forgetting anyone (and in the spirit of keeping this as non-tangential as possible), I'll keep it vague. Praise team is awesome, leadership is always trying to improve, and the congregation has a lot of social diversity and variety...which I'm hoping continues to grow.

Blind people have seen, cancer has been healed, blood diseases, physical ailments(neuropathy, strokes, etc.), mental battles, emotional trials, and the spirit of God poured out into people and the evidence of speaking with a heavenly language that God gives them. Jesus can do it all. The family environment is excellent, all people are welcome, they have Sunday school, Wednesday night school, a kids program on Wednesday's too! They have safe environments to learn, grow, develop, pray and prosper. They have a new attendee class that teaches a topic based curriculum and bible studies of all kinds. They have small groups throughout the whole city! If you have a need, the church reaches out to help. I've seen them take care of people in wonderful and meaningful ways. The service started with solid worship music - thus the two starts and not just one. The message was more of story time than anything out of God's word - the service spent more time playing clips from Shawshank Redemption than focusing on what would actually bring life change to an individual. Even when scripture was mentioned the pastor couldn't take time to elaborate on Gods word but made references to "many more scriptures" rather than directing the congregation to those scriptures. Flatiron Church's Pastor should be reminded of Paul's words in Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." Remember Pastor, Paul told Timothy to "Preach the Word" - not the movies. Give up the gimmicks and get your congregation back in God's Word. Don't delude your congregation with softball stories that may send some to the gates of hell with a false sense of spiritual identity.

As soon as you walk in the door there was an instant sense of Community. Three people within the first minutes were welcoming, excited you are there, which left a feeling of "this is where I want to be". The energetic, live music joyful, the attendees happy. The pastor very charismatic, storytelling explanation teaching The Book of John, from the heart, made you want to learn and know more! Afterward, a chance to sign up for mens/womens groups if you want to fulfill more of the community involvement. Leaving with a sense of 'what a cool place". I am excited to grow with this church, feeling "This is home".
