I highly recommend Clint at Slayton & Clary. I received a summons in Brunswick County Virginia for 83mph in a 70mph. While I won't go into the details of why I believe this was result of incompetency or a trap for out of state travelers, let's just say I know what my cruise control was locked on and rest assured it was not 83mph as charged. Regardless, Clint took the case for what I consider to be a very reasonable fee and had the charge reduced to "Defective Equipment Generally" which constitutes a fine of $130 + court costs under $100. Considering I was facing potential fines of up to $2,500, license suspension and possible incarceration this was a much welcomed relief. Not that I like wasting my money on fines, but I will take the non-moving violation and the $130 fine vs. the original Reckless driving penalties I was facing. I got a lot of AD. Letters after I got a ticket which is defined Reckless Driving. I was required to appear on court. But I live in another State. I have to find a good lawyer. After searching online , I found there are lots of very positive reviews for Mr. Clary. Then I checked how far away their office from the court. It's only a few minutes driving distance. That's fantastic. I don't think it's a good idea to let an attorney drive 3 hours to appear on the court. Then I called office and prepared some supportive documents under their guide. I was charged with Reckless Driving for speeding in Brunswick County. Mr. Clary was the most expensive lawyer I contacted ($500 retainer), but he was also the most optimistic about reducing my sentence and during my initial consultation was extremely knowledgable and helpful. Most importantly, he was able to reschedule my court date and achieve the most favorable sentencing of having the charge dismissed. I was told by both him and other lawyers that I was speeding above the threshold that is usually deemed forgivable, and I am therefore extremely happy with this outcome. My only qualm with his services is that communication and follow-up was inconsistent. Mr. Clary was able to obtain the very result we had hoped for. My 20 year old son, licensed in MD, was stopped going over 80 mph, so the charge was reckless driving. Mr. Clary was recommended to us by a friend. We communicated by phone and email and met the morning of the hearing. My son had provided a copy of his clean driving record, his grade transcript from college, two character references, and his offer letter for his summer internship. I always try to drive as safe as possible, seems in this part of Virginia law enforcement uses infractions that people from other states may not know about. With a perfect driving record was given a summons without any consideration.
