I am another success story, thanks to Steele. I actually learned the craft (acting in TV commercials) from Cathy Steele many years ago. When I was ready to get an agent, I chose the best in San Francisco, and because I was well-prepared and properly packaged, I was accepted into that agency. Not surprisingly, I went on my first audition two days later, got the job (billboards for Gallo Wines) and that was all it took. I did national TV commercials, got to audition for an NBC soap opera, did voice/overs, print work, films, etc. It was great! I took some time off (about 20 years) to be a mom, run my own business, and work part-time at our local TV station as on-air talent. I decided a few months ago that, now that everyone's grown up, I'm ready to go back to the career I love. Getting into this business is definitely not something you want to try at home! Getting an agent is very competitive, so you will be laughed right out of an interview if you don't show yourself to be a professional. I knew I needed some new pictures and updated information on the industry, so I gave Steve and Laurie Cozart a call. I'd actually met Laurie and Steve through a mutual friend, and we were absolutely delighted at the "small world" connection of the past. I knew instantly that they knew what they were doing when I invited them to be on my TV talkshow, "Conversations With Robin Fahr." These two were pros, and I thought if I ever got back into the business, I'd call them first. Here I am, three months out from doing my new headshot and comp card with Steve as photographer, and after a little training and proper packaging with Steve and Laurie, I have a great agent. And I had a number of choices. Of the 14 agencies in SF, 8 called back wanting me to sign with them. All mentioned how well-packaged I was, and all were familiar with Steele's excellent management program. I've been on two big auditions since signing with my new agent (Gail Jones, Talent+Plus) and I've been submitted for three others. Still waiting to hear if I got any of them, but in this business, it's a numbers game so I will land one eventually. Laurie and Steve Cozart of Steele do exactly what they say they'll do. If you listen to them, you will get into the business. Is their help and advice free? Of course not, what kind of business would that be? The price is more than fair for the training and tools they give you to start a career. It's sure a lot less than any other trade school education. And we sure have fun! From photo day to on-going classes, everybody gets to know each other, and it makes it so much easier when we see each other at auditions. I have been working with Laurie and Steve for several years now and I can tell you it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! One f my favorite things about them is that they are in business to direct you towards opportunities and give the advice you need to become a successful actor. They do not sugar coat things, they tell you the truth and give you honest feedback that you will not get anywhere else in the industry. They tell you what to expect from your agent, an audition and on set. Every time I am on a set, at an audition or even when I was meeting with my agent for the first time - things were exactly how they said it would be. That gave me piece of mind that my money was well spent! (Although by that point I already knew that) On to the pictures! Steve is an award winning photographer who made me look amazing in my photos and made me feel amazing while I was having them taken. He is great at pulling the best out of each of his clients and providing you with the right tools to get your career started. As you can see by my photo, these do not look like "K-mart Coupons" at all! You are charged a fee for their services, however the services they provide are priceless!! When they tell you they are there for you as a lifelong coach and they mean it. I met them several years ago and they are still always more than willing to help me through any situation where I need advice, which is invaluable since your agent, casting directors, production companies and everyone else you encounter in this industry do not provide you with feedback or advice. I could go on forever about how glad I am to have decided to work with Laurie and Steve!! They provided me with the tools and preparation I needed to get my career on the right path and I can't thank them enough!! I have been immensely aided and encouraged by my experience at Steele Model and Talent. Although I have been a stage actor for years, I had never tried branching out into film and print work primarily because of the fear of not being prepared or understanding how to get and hire an agent. For years I had been telling my husband that what I wanted was someone who would hold my hand through each step of the process so that I didn't feel alone or that the entire weight of the process was mine alone to carry. September 2010...Enter Steele Model and Talent. This company is exactly what I had wanted. Not only was I able to ask all of my (many) questions, but I was encouraged to move at my own pace- as fast or as slow as I wanted to take it. For all those looking to get modeling and acting jobs without having to pay a dime for anything..... you are really out of the loop, no hopes for you. This business takes time, money, and lots of guts to keep on going. Steve and Laurie have advised me and coached me for the past two years and I have done great. I got my agent in SF through them, I attended IMTA with them, I have booked fantastic pay rate jobs and all thanks to their strong support and family environment. I have done all this and I live two hours away from the Bay Area so for those in the Bay, if you are not successful its because you are not giving it your best and/or you don't have the right people. Hey everyone! I have been signed with Steele Model and Talent for almost a year now and I must admit, they are awesome people. Reading the reviews below are quite disappointing and far from the truth. Laurie and Steve Cozart are 2 of the kindest and greatest people there are and they not once told me anything they could not deliver on. That is the truth. They never promised fortune or fame and they are not an actual agency that will find you work. They promote themselves as a management company that can and will give you the tools you need to move further along in the entertainment industry. They helped me find an agent recently and have given me more confidence when it comes time to audition for gigs. I would say that almost everyone's biggest failure in this industry would be due to the lack of knowledge that the entertainment industry is an actual business and without learning the business you will not last.
