The property is disgusting and multiple complaints. Tried to tell manager about our stay and they didn't seem to care. Pool is moldy smelling, rooms are disgusting. Charged me twice not one but 2 times after I complained to customer service. Bed had sticky stuff on it and didn't sleep well. Employees here are very rude and don't understand us. Need to do something about this place. Maintenance guy came into the pool and said the smell was because of the hot tub that is in a room above the pool, THAT IS NOT SAFE. Water to the tub smells like mold and dripping will cause mold. Door doesn't even lock. Elevator is rickety and maintenance looked at it and said "oh it's fine." And we stayed in room 317 I will never use this hotel again! read more

If I could give this less then a 1 I would. Immediately when we walked it the whole place smelt like stale cigarettes. The ceiling over the pool is literally falling off and the room was absolutely disgusting. Stains on blankets, stained chair, the tub was all stained and disgusting, it looked like an electrical fire almost started from the outlet and the lamp shades were filthy, the walls were brown stained and you could tell it should be white. Over the top with their no pets policy despite the Choice Hotels app listing them as pet friendly. Looked fine .. seemed clean. Nice considering dog friendly. We only stayed one night. The real problem is None of us slept well ... the pillows were awful. If I were to return it would be because we were going to Shenandoah park and traveling with our dog. I would totally recommend bringing your own pillow. The bed was uncomfortably hard and the walls were so thin you hear everything from other rooms and the hallway. they do have an outside pool but it's October so its closed. Just don't go here. Stayed in 2 different rooms. The first one looked clean but had bedbugs, 2nd room seemed clean, didn't get bit. So happy I didn't take any home with me. Didn't eat breakfast so I can't speak on that. Staff not very friendly at all. Better to go down the road a little ways to the Super 8 breakfast is not much, staff not so friendly there either but at least the room was clean that we stayed in. read more

I believe it's 5 star quality but I'm giving it a 4 due to coronavirus the Room is very clean I didn't see any dust and the white was white you are required to wear a facemasks the pool areas open their giving cereal for breakfast. The guy on night wasn't very friendly but the front desk older woman was the most friendly person and helpful i had the best talk with her and she help with places to eat and where to get and supplies i may have forgotten or just want to shop yes she was wonderful. Genuinely nasty. Smelled like shrimp scampi in the room for reasons unknown. The cool toned lighting creates an anxious atmosphere that, despite its dimness, does nothing to hide the mysterious stains and dirt on the walls. The smoke detector in my room was wrapped up in plastic from the previous guests. There was rust and random beetles(?) in the bathroom, and something gross caked onto the nightstand (photos attached). All of this I could forgive if it was cheap, but I paid the price of a decent hotel room just to stay here. Save yourself the time, money, and shower that you'll have to take in a cleaner establishment once you leave this place. read more

Traveling 1000 miles through the night alone with three babies gets so overwhelming when it's time to stop for a hotel.... Not when Sally is working!! (I hope I got her name right, I wrote it down and forgot my note in the room). My sister called ahead for me while I was driving to help secure a room for me and my littles. I arrived shortly after and this kind kind woman made the process so smooth and welcoming. We arrived around 3am and she was able to get me a later checkout to assure I'd get some good rest before traveling further. 10/10 for the hotel, 12/10 for that awesome staff member! Don't waste your time. 2 stars because it could be worse. Changed rooms because the first one was musty and moldy smelling and obviously smoked in. Second one definitely has a mold problem and was not kept well. Ended up at the country Inn near Stephen City. Staff had little to no reaction when we said we would like our money back, most likely because she knows it's disgusting. Pool was nasty too. read more

Dirty rooms and an extremely rude kid on the front desk. From the start of check-in this kid was continuously rude. I thought he had to the owner's son to be able to get away with being so rude to customers. I requested a room change when I discovered how disgustingly dirty my given room was. As I was returning my original room key, I was stating that the new room was much better and the kid interrupts me and says "just give me the keys." Stay away from this place! Rooms are clean. Service does a great job cleaning up and putting new towels in. Everything works in the room. I don't know if it's the facilities fault or not but I'm currently spending my last day (of three) in this hotel and all day long I have heard nothing but banging, beating, knocking, like children are trying to rip the room apart. It's kind of ridiculous you are at the "sleep inn" and you can not sleep because they have apparently let guest children run ramped inside. Very, very disappointed in that part. I was trying to sleep in between visiting some family while in town but I guess it'll be cut short because I'll have to go to bed early due to listening to the room next to me have a Disney child party in the next room all day and not being able to sleep in at the sleep inn. read more

We were headed to a Civil War Re-enactment (observers, thank you - not ready to enlist), and needed a place to stay. This was the cleanest, happiest and most friendliest place we experienced on this trip. We called the site, rather than booking online and got heaps of advice from the front desk person. (hint: stop at a rest area on 81 and pick up the red booklet with discount coupons to save $$) The breakfast is better than most, but doesn't satisfy a 'foodie' as it is largely Sysco Systems based. Still, they are sincere and went out of their way to accommodate everyone on our party. The pool was heavily chlorinated (good, I think) and smallish. - But they have one, which is a plus. For the price it was great value and we'd stay there again next time. read more

*4.5 stars* Very clean room, incredibly comfy beds, mostly friendly folks at the front desk, not too loud, free wi-fi that actually worked quite well while we were there, and conveniently located. Breakfast might be fine for the average small town American, but I found it rather gross. Only one yogurt - non-fat strawberry banana (is that a flavor anyone other than babies eats?!), bananas that had seen better days, hard boiled eggs that tasted exactly like nothing. Wanted a room for the night in the area after our long trip. Found this motel which beat others competitors prices and had the amenities we were looking for. We didn't want to stay at the Marriott in Winchester again since they charge a ridiculous high price and then charge you again for breakfast. Rude lobby guy to boot at that location. Not a great experience. We stopped here last night halfway home from a vacation to stay the night before we finished our drive. First complaint: strong musty odor and humid feeling immediately when we walked into the room. Second complaint: no matter how low we turned our extremely loud air conditioner, the room would not cool down. And I mean it when I say the air conditioner was VERY loud. Third: even though we requested a non-smoking room, our room kept smelling like cigarettes late at night and early in the morning. I complained at the front desk and was told, "Sorry, the exhaust fan pulls the smoke from the smoking rooms into the non-smoking rooms." Why ask how my stay was just to do nothing when I reply that I was dissatisfied? My daughter and I were able to get a room here at the last minute during our road trip to upstate NY. The staff was very helpful. I requested a wheelchair accessible room and was very pleased with the room we got. The bathroom was perfect with a roll-in shower. The room was very roomy and easy to roll in. I've stayed at this location a few times. I usually get the Jacuzzi suite but this time only standard rooms were available. I arrived just after check in time to a family of 5 and 2 other guests in the lobby waiting to be checked in. there was one staff member working, Nick. He seemed overwhelmed and when a guest would make a request or have a question he kept saying the hotel was full. After check in, I gather my things and went to my room. As soon as the elevator opened the smell of smoke hit me in the face. I proceeded to the room and then realized that I was given a smoking room when I had reserved nonsmoking. I went to the desk to advise Nick to which he denied giving me a smoking room for some reason and went into some convoluted story about how every other room was smoking only and I should have known that the floor was smoking (I'm unsure how I would have known this). He was very combative. He kept saying that the hotel was full and that if I touched anything it would be a problem because he'd have to give the room to someone else. I grew tired of his ranting so I advised that I would check out if it is such a problem. He then gave me a room that I had originally reserved and started demanding the key back. I advised him that I would return the key once I moved my belongings to the new room. When I went back to the desk to return the key there was no one at the desk so had to wait for him to see that I was at the desk from the security camera, I assume. Although still had an attitude, he had calm down some. I assume he realized he gave me a smoking room but didn't apologize for the error or for his behavior. The encounter was very disappointing. Being a former comfort inn employee this type of behavior does not represent the brand as I know it. I don't know if he was having a bad day or couldn't manage the stress of having reservations for a full hotel. The issues didn't end there. Upon check out I decided to pay cash. I was extended by accident. The error was corrected and given a receipt. As I walked away I realized the check out had not been corrected. I went back to the counter and asked for a receipt that reflected the correct info. I was told because others were waiting they were going to correct it later so gave me an incorrect receipt for now. The guest behind me didn't mind waiting so I was able to get a correct receipt. I paid $111 for a standard room. For the price the accommodations were decent but I could have passed on the service. I would recommend bringing some wipes/cleaner to wipe down the bathroom (I recommend this for any hotel). check out towneplace suites Winchester or holiday inn winchester for a better alternative. Although the service was lacking this time, I would stay again if my first and second choices were booked. If its cost versus service, sleep inn is the way to go. I would recommend the Jacuzzi room over the standard just for personal preference as well. read more

I stayed here with my field crew for a project, and had a difficult experience throughout. The problems seem mainly caused by a lack of communication between staff. I tried to add the names of the people in my company to ensure a fluid check-in, and was told not to bother it was fine, only to have my boss calling me Sunday night from the desk, unable to check in. I asked for a first floor room to carry in heavy equipment in and out daily, but this apparently required a separate entry into the reservation, which was not done. Despite giving my correct billing address, they continued to use an old address. When trying to make a reservation for the last week, a staff member had already made one for us for some reason, and it was wrong (I assume we would have been charged if it was not cancelled, despite not having approved it). And finally, I could not use a desk lamp due to lack of lightbulbs. Having enjoyed Sleep Inn experiences in the past, I was displeased with this location. read more
