Alicia and Erica were both very responsive when I needed my CPAP machine replaced. My Respironics machine was still under warranty when it began to malfunction. They ordered a new one in for me. The next week they gave me a call to come in and swap it out. I appreciate the way they run things because I would have lost quality sleep for a week had I been waiting on the shipment on my own. They made it easy for me to send in my prescription information (I emailed my prescription instead of fax. Who uses fax nowadays?). When I visited their location I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen. Other clinics make me wait half an hour to be seen (bay sleep clinic). Records were sent by my sleep doctor to start CPAP supplies. I asked for a cost and was ignored. They sent me supplies that I did not authorize (all wrong BTW) and I refused the package. They billed my insurance and me (insurance paid). They acknowledge receipt of return but will not reverse the change (I have to pay prorated amount for unopened supplies?!?!?). Head of billing has not returned calls. I have been using CPAP for more than 20 years and never had such an experience. read more

SleepQuest is a very effective and prompt provider of service. My CPAP was programmed and given to me within one week of my initial sleep study. The only issue I've had was a billing mistake. Within one day of the billing complaint I submitted, the VP of operations reached out to me, and expressed her concern for my case. Yes.. I do agree that Sleep Quest have crappy service. Here is a warning for SleepQuest customers. I use the AirSense 10, I primarily use the nose pillow. My insurance pays 80% of the bill, but here is the real problem. For the last year when Sleep Quest send me the supplies quarterly, I notice that a few of the nose pillow were in large seal plastic bags and some were just in a clear small baggies that resemble a small sandwich bag with the standard press together seal. I found out that the one that were seal from the factory in large clear bags fits perfectly. The one that is not in the factory bags and in the small baggies seems to have a fitting problem. I was told by a friend that sometimes medical suppliers like Sleep Quest would re sterilize a slight used product, like having a customer try out the different sizes before they buy or rent the product. Usually the medical supplier/retailer will clean or re sterilize it and tries to pass it off as new. After a weeks usage of a nose pillow, the plastic gets worn out and you put a new one on. On the one that i use from the small baggies that supposedly new, I really do not think so. I believes that these has been used before on Sleep Quest is trying to pass them off as new. On one of them, when i closely look at it there seems to be some body tissues on it. This week when i ordered my quarterly supplies I mentioned the issues to them, I told them that i only want the nose pillows that is sealed from the factory. I told them that i found out that the one that is not in the factory sealed bags seems to be used. When i said that, Sleep Quest noted that on my order. The person told me that the order is ready to pickup and was in a hurry to get off the phone with me. Please watch out for their deceptive practice of passing off supplies as new when in fact they have been used as a trial and resold as new. Please be careful and request product as new in original factory sealed bags. I am looking for a new supplier. My Airsense 10 that i got from them, I am questioning it now cause, the machine did not work. I returned it and got another one. I wonder if they gave me a machine that was used and they told me that it was a new machine. read more

I have rarely posted a Yelp review about any business, but I felt compelled to write one about SleepQuest. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea two months ago, and decided to obtain the CPAP equipment through SleepQuest. I can't say enough good things about them. They gave me plenty of time and attention when it came to the initial fitting and explanation of how to use the equipment. Since then, I have been in touch with them several times with questions about the mask fitting and the various setting adjustments one has to make on the CPAP device itself. The patient consultant I have been working with, Cindy Wu, promptly returns my e-mails and has made time for any necessary face-to-face sessions. Most recently, I had a problem with a piece of equipment and they replaced it the same day. I wish all service businesses I deal with were as customer-focused as SleepQuest. read more

After the initial testing and purchase of my CPap It all went downhill from there. Customer service is very sketchy. No call backs, then with a second or third call from me leaving messages on an answering machine, finally heard from a representative. When I ordered supplies directly from the website, no problem. That's because I didn't go through any insurance. Paid full price with a credit card. I think they really get stuck when you try to go through Medicare. I ordered new parts over three weeks ago and have received nothing so far. It's stuck in their billing department. I did receive an email asking for my patience. read more

Complete fraudsters. I should have done more research before ever giving these people a single dime. The people running this office seriously don't have their shit together. Nancy, the new secretary, is completely clueless on how to perform the basic duties of her job and just deflects everything she doesn't understand to Erica. That usually means that anything more complex than a greeting gets escalated. Erica never gives a direct answer on anything, preferring to speak over you for a very long period of time using a lot of empty words to extend what she's saying to try and talk you into not getting any results you want. Every serious inquiry is met with a stonewall of how she "isn't the right person" to ask these to. If not her, who? Oh! The main office! That's right! The people who never pick up their phone, refuse to respond to any of your messages, and only call you back if you mention that you're going to return your machine. Got it! The same 'main office' that can't even possibly explain every charge they nickel and dime you for. Is it my deductible? No! That thing has already been met! Oh, then, it must be your co-pay! But don't try calling back the next day, they'll decide that it's suddenly your deductible that's being billed again! Talk about a clear an utter rape of my wallet. Quoted around $350 when I called, was pushed a 'mandatory upgrade fee' of $295 when I visited, surprised with a monthly re-bill of $80 after I paid an initial $650, and then hit with a deductible on each monthly re-bill. It's no surprise that NOBODY EXPLAINS ANY IF THIS when you initially pick up your machine, and instead after countless calls they tell you to call their 'home office' to reach their billing department and those people NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE. Imagine the look on my face when I realized this fucking machine is all of $600 on CPAP.com! How much did I receive back when I returned my machine? A whopping ZERO DOLLARS. At this point, my damages are over $1400. Did I mention it took twenty minutes to return this thing because that idiot Nancy didn't know how to process paperwork? She called the 'home office' and SURPRISE! Nobody picked up the phone for her either! Absurd! TL;DR - fuck this place. They lie, scam you out of money, take zero ownership in everything except stealing my money, and are generally scumbags. read more

I am visiting from out of town and forgot my cpap mask. I called and they told me I needed to provide a prescription for them to sell me a mask. Why would I need a mask if I didn't have a cpap?? These guys don't always answer their phone. They are very spotty about returning calls. When they say they will call back, often they don't. When I asked an employee why she didn't call me back, to tell me that my supplies were in, she told me they are too busy to return EVERY phone call. With health insurance being what it is, their customers are captive. read more

I live in Berkeley, and after reading the terrible yelp reviews of east bay DMEs I decided to try SleepQuest in SF. I haven't been to any other DMEs, but the experience wasn't anything like the many horror stories I've read on yelp and on support forums. They pre-verified my Rx and insurance, knew exactly how much my insurance would reimburse, and helped me pick a new CPAP mask, as well as consulting with me about whether to get a new machine. I compared the prices afterwards to an online CPAP shop, and SleepQuest was only slightly higher. I had to pay for the tech's time helping me pick and fit a mask, but since that's what I was there for, I didn't mind. read more

The people at SleepQuest could not be more helpful or more accommodating. You should know if you have an RX for CPAP you really do need to take an appointment to get fitted, and also that there can be capacity squeezes when new products get out, so some of the rants in the reviews really aren't fair. Also, CPAP is great in a lot of ways, but it takes a lot of getting used to. Don't blame sleep quest. They're nothing but awesome. On strong recommendation from staff at the Sleep Disorders Center at UCSF I gave this company a second chance. Long story short, Erica W. gave me a new perspective on this company. There was an initial hiccup with my authorization and communicating the specifics to me before coming to pick up my equipment, but Erica explained the situation and talked me back from the edge! Erica is a keeper! She understands the process, has the professionalism and skill to deal with unhappy customers. Once the paper work issues were squared away, she spent a good amount of time helping me select the appropriate mask and thoroughly explained the pros and cons of each. She also gave a good description of the pros and cons of the machines so that I could make an informed decision. Erica also was meticulous in explain billing, paper work, warranty/service, travel requirements etc. I left Sleep Quest SF a satisfied customer. My appointment with my therapist and the fitting went extremely well. But, my positive experience ended there. My dealings with their billing department was completely the opposite. My initial visit was over 2 years ago and I'm still going through insurance issues from that initial visit. I wasn't notified that there was a billing issue with my insurance company until almost a year after the visit. By the time I was notified, trying to resolve an insurance issue through a company I no longer work for was near impossible. After multiple conversations with SleepQuest's billing department and multiple requests for them to try to re-bill my correct insurance, it looks like I'm going to have to come out of pocket for the 100% of the bill. If my billing issue was handled correctly initially or if the problem addressed earlier, I wouldn't be coming out of pocket almost 3 years later. Ridiculous! If you go to SleepQuest, be prepared to either pay for the entire bill or deal with their useless billing department. I will never refer anyone nor even think about using them again as my CPAP supplier. read more

Don't expect your phone calls to be returned! Unfortunately, if you're on Medicare you apparently have to go through them. I left 5 phone messages over a 2 week span and never received a callback. Medbridge left them a message to call me but they never did. There seems to be some confusion over what services they provide. Medbridge & Medical say one thing, they say something else. They seem at best disorganized. Was initially leery because of all the bad reviews, now I see why they recieved those reviews. read more

Day #1--S9 Resmed Vpap Auto Told Not In Stock..TOLD AT P/U APPT.-- I was approved for a new Resmed BiPap thru Dr Lim and arrived to pick it up at my appointment. During my office visit Chris (male rep visiting from the San Carlos office) told Erica to get the Bipap--but it was out of stock. I know as the end user there is a lengthy process to get new equiptment. Al the vendors involved were on the same page-Dr Lim, Brown & Toland, & Sleep Quest. Erica called and told me my S9 Bilevel was in and the appt was made to pick it up. I had to take off of work to pick it up. I was frustrated but more importantly I was worried about the service you provide once again. I arrived for my appt and my Bilevel was out of stock.? In my experience businesses call customers to reschedule when a product is not available. The businesses I deal with usually understand customers are a very important part of the business model. I took option 3 and returned in 2 hours allowing Chris to have my S9 Bilevel delivered from the San Carlos office. I am 100% sure that if Chris was not there Erica would have no same day solutions. Erica would incorrectly assume that I have no other choice but to reschedule the appt and pick up the machine another day. There are other DME providers in the city and even more in the bay area. N2 in the east bay seems to want my business. At my Appt to pick up my new S9 BiPap I observed that Chris was politely giving direction and orders to Erica who was so very good at brown nosing. Correct me if I am wrong but Chris appears to be a Senior level employee with the experience and professionalism to run the office yet for "in house" reasons beyond my knowledge Erica seems to ru it all. I am glad Chris was there because he apologized and offered my solutions when he found out my Bilevel was mysteriously not in stock for my scheduled appt. Erica's most recent example of running the show that I experienced when when she told me I would not qulaify for a new Bipap--with no further explanation The allotted years had passed but her reply was that it was a comlplex issue and that the year for each machine had changed. I could not get a straight answer out of Erica. If Erica is just an Administrative Assistant and you allow her to feel important and not correct her on giving information outside her job description that is your perogative. I called Brown and Toland and Blue Shield who both told me it was cut and dry. Dr Prescribes it. Its done. Admin should not make that call. Thank god I understand that. Day #2-- Advised Mask Not In Stock....Told Only After I Call Before P/U.-- I was in the neighborhood recently and stopped in the talk to Erica about a mask reorder. I am due for a new mask-Resmed Quatro FX. Erica advised me she would request the mask prescription/order from Dr Lim and call me when it was ready. A short time later Erica did call me and tell me it was ready for pick up.l Erica advised me that I should stop out before January 1st or they would have to redo the order(as if that would take more time). My Brown and Toland "Treatment Authorization" notices always tell me I have a 3 month valid approval period. I was confused by her urgency but let it go because I believe Erica would have a quick general answer for every question & I would get no where-no real answers. I am on reduced hours at work and have run out of sick time so taking of of work to simply pick up a mask is not a option. Neither is waiting to receive it in the mail. I regularly make arrangements to have my masks (not the expensive VPAP machine) left with the guard on the first floor for pick up at 6pm-ish...when SF Sleep Quest is closed. This is never a problem. This part was not the problem. Tuesday December 24th 2013 I got a call from Erica telling me my supplies/mask were ready for p/u and I should pick it up before the end of this calendar year.--I saved the voice mail. Today Friday December 27th 2013 12:06 pm I called and spoke to Erica and made arrangements to pick up my supplies from "Aaron" the guard on the first floor. Today Friday December 27th 2013 5:09pm I called Erica to confirm the mask was ready for p/u....before going to pick it up. She said "let me check" and told me the mask was out of stock but I could pick up the filters. I very clearly spoke to Erica in person about reordering the mask. 12-24-13 Erica informs me that my supplies are ready for pick up. Should I assume she means the mask? 12-27-13 12;06pm...I make arrangements with Erica to pick up my mask the same day-at the guard desk. I use the word mask for Erica. 12-27-13 5:06pm I call Erica to confirm that my mask is ready for pick up...before going to pick it up---and I am told the mask is out of stock but the filters are available. If your San Francisco office apparently run by Erica messes things up that often can I assume she is doing it on purpose? I look forward to your reply via email. Respecfully read more

On 12/3/2014 I took a DME equipment home to test myself for sleep disorder. I made sure that the equipment was free to use. After the test was over and I returned the equipment , I was told to book more tests at the office. I consulted my personal doctor and was told I do not have to see Sleep Quest any more. On Sept 14,20016 Sleep Quest send me a bill for $100.00. for the use of the equipment. When I signed up I was told it was free . This looks like a scam to get $100 from me because I did not sign up for more tests which they would have charged me for. read more

August 7, 2013; I have never dealt with such an incompetent staff as the ones at SleepQuest SF. On June 19, 2013 I contacted their office to set up an appt for a CPAP. Alicia request my information prior to setting up any appointment. I faxed all the pertinent information request. July 7,2013 Alicia called needing the sleep reports. I explained to her they were faxed on June 19, 2013, they were faxed the second time on July 7th. July 11, 2013 Alicia calls stating "Both of your insurance companies claim to be the first payer will YOU call them and clear up who is first payer. I attempted to explain to Alicia this made "NO SENSE" as I have never had this problem in the 15 years of having both insurances. I also explained to her that "X insurance" was first payer, and "XX insurance" was second payer. Alicia held on to the belief that both insurances were first and neither one would pay once they are billed. To appease Alicia I called "insurance X" explained what was said. The insurance X state they were first payer and would call SleepQuest and speak with Alicia to resolve this problem. The insurance X also sent a letter to this fact to Alicia at Sleep Quest. The insurance X actually spoke with Melissa. I placed a call to Alicia about 1 hour after my call to my insurance company X. Melissa answered the telephone and told me she had spoken to Insurance X and all was settled. August 6, 2013 I called SleepQuest SF to inquire how much longer is their process going to take? I stated I have a follow-up appointment with my Doctor at the Sleep Center in approximately 2 weeks to discuss the use of the CPAP machine and my sleep using this machine. Erica stated "We are waiting for You to talk to your insurance companies". I told her that I had a month ago and my insurance company spoke to Melissa and cleared up their confusion. I asked to speak to the manager of Sleep Quest and Erica said she was the only person there. The staff at SleepQuest SF are incompetent, lazy, inefficient people who should be replaced. There is no accountability for their not doing their jobs. August 7,2013; I went to Apria Health Care today with my information from the sleep center and received the CPAP equipment. Getting CPAP machines, masks etc working is not straightforward. Something like 80% of patients give up, they never get comfortable with the technology. This company is focussed on CPAP technology, and because of this gives excellent pre-sales and post-sales support. These translate to high success rates--ie, you're much more likely to find masks, cushions, and CPAP devices that are right for you, and find CPAP working for you. I am very happy with the firm. Its prices are reasonable, too. read more
