Their own agreement says they will complete claims forms and bill insurance!
    WstCst C.

Update 8/31: it's great that That The SleepQuest Team commented and recognize this wasn't explained well; however their "policy" still doesn't make sense and is contradicted by their own terms. Insurance is an agreement between me and my insurance provider (as they make clear in their terms) which means that they can not determine coverage - only my insurance provider can, which is why their own document says you will (it does not say we will file for items we think will be covered, or we will only file for FDA approved devices, which while linked to insurance coverage is not a sole determining factor). They didn't do that and when I provided them with the Explanation of Benefits that demonstrate not coverage they refused to honor the their agreed upon in-network negotiated rate. --------------------/// I went in to receive a CPAP machine that was prescribed by my doctor. We discussed machines and they told me that my machine DreamstationGo was not covered by my insurance so I would have to purchase it in full. That did not make sense as I had checked with my insurance in advance and all of the 4 machines I was interested in were covered. I thought perhaps they were saying this because I hadn't met my deductible and asked if they could please bill my insurance as even if I have to pay for it it would go towards my deductible. I was told "it is our policy to not bill insurance for things they don't cover." I explained that I was pretty sure my insurance did cover it as I had spoken to them and they said, no your insurance won't cover a "travel machines" this is a self-pay item. I went ahead and paid for it figuring I would self-file with my insurance. I did and not surprising- my insurance covers the device!!! They cover it at a negotiated rate (as with all the machines). My insurance told me I should be able to call them and get the difference (except for my portion of the copayment) refunded. Then why doesn't SleepQuest file with insurance you may wonder? The only thing I can gather is because insurance has the machines at a negotiated rate and they don't want to honor that rate. When I called the billing department I was told "it doesn't matter if your insurance covers it or not, we consider travel machines self-pay items and so you are billed the full price. My issue with that response: 1) this is not what I was told - I was told "my insurance doesn't cover this machine" which is not true and was a flat out lie. Had they been honest that my insurance covered this but they won't bill insurance because they don't want to sell the item at their contracted rate I could have decided if I still wanted to get the machine and pay for it all myself, if I wanted to go elsewhere, or if I wanted to choose a different machine; 2) the reason you go to in-network providers is that they are part of a contracted network and have agreed to the terms of that network - terms like negotiated rates, so for them to randomly decide specific products and services they will and won't accept insurance for is not only misleading it goes against their own financial terms and disclaimers outlined in the paperwork they give you and you sign! They charged me $850, the contracted rate was $520.50. (Part of that to be covered by insurance and part my responsibility). They have overcharged and refuse to refund the $329.50. Rather silly as they would have made several times over that for the replacement and maintenance items, which I will now be purchasing elsewhere. In short, I'm disgusted by their deceptive and misleading - if not outright fraudulent -practices!!! This is the type of behavior that gives the healthcare industry a bad name!

A top of the line brand new CPAP! Whisper quiet. Slick. Modern. Built in cell phone. No Wi-Fi. No Bluetooth. Slick!

The appointment only took about 15 minutes for me, I scheduled it on the same day and then pulled up 5 minutes before the appointment. Staff took care of me and helped me adjust my positioning to get the most accurate scan. I got my results within a few hours online and I saw a full breakdown of my fat percentage, lean mass, bone density, etc... I would say it was a good value for the price and you can find discount codes online if you do some research (or use an LLM). Parking is kind of a pain though.

I'll cut to the chase and tell you it was surprisingly accurate, and within the margin of error, although Dexa is the "gold standard." I won't bore you with the metrics but I will bore you with the experience. First off, the location for the mobile service has ample parking and was conveniently located. The mobile van was clean, the technician - Suhban Khan was very professional and knowledgeable. Like myself, he was also a fitness coach and had solid knowledge not only with Dexa but also the leading body composition measurement devices on the market and smart scales. We had a good chat and I interviewed him briefly for the YouTube channel. If you want to watch, here's the link: https://youtu.be/eJ9x2bf5QHA?si=sytHprsQ9ydwYn-R The scan took about 10 minutes time, with 6 minutes for the scan. You just wear light, loose clothing and lay back, while the scanner passes from your head to your feet. It moves a fraction every 30 seconds. The van was mostly quiet with ambient music - felt very much like any medical setting. Is this a necessary experience for everyone? No. For most people seeking general health I would recommend getting the good habits of proper nutrition, exercise and proper rest before worrying about getting a Dexa but...it will help keep you accountable to your goals and honestly, the subscription service is pretty affordable. I enjoyed my experience and will check in again in a few months.

It does make me a little sad that the staff there now have to work so much harder, handling billing and check-in requests on top of their primary role as phlebotomists. That extra load seems outside the scope of their professional focus. Fortunately, even with these added responsibilities, the staff remain incredible. They are skilled, gentle--it never hurts me--and they are consistently warm, encouraging, polite, and clear in their explanations. I especially want to give a shout-out to Genesis, who was genuinely warm and curious about my weekend. She lit up when I told her how much I enjoyed seeing the play Nine to Five this past weekend, and that made the whole experience feel even more personal and human. The office itself is beautiful and clean, and Genesis even took her own time to put up some cheerful Hello Kitty printouts that brightened the walls. One suggestion that might make the space even more soothing would be to add some local artwork. Perhaps nearby artists might be willing to loan or donate pieces--something calming that would also showcase community talent. I think this would enhance an already excellent patient experience. I often tell my friends that if they need to get blood drawn and have the time, this is the office to visit. The only other teeny-tiny improvement I'd love to see would be the use of bandage wraps like they have at UCSF--ones that don't pull hair when they come off, which would be a relief for those of us with, shall we say, more arm hair

The people behind the front desk are always frazzled & abrupt with everyone around them (patients & coworkers). I have always thought that perhaps it's because they're busy, however my experience yesterday points to the source of the angst being the people behind the front desk. Yesterday was the first time I had an appointment at the 7am opening. I got there at 6:45am & checked in electronically. I was out in front waiting when the door opened. The male person behind the front desk was already barking at people. I let him know I checked in electronically & was ready. He said "Your paperwork is over there", pointing to a window between reception & the blood draw room. I assumed that meant that someone would call me in when they were ready for me. I sat in the waiting area, and saw my name on the monitor as checked in. Other patients were called in. When my name disappeared from the monitor but no one had called me back, I went to the front desk to inquire. The male person was busy, so an Asian woman asked what I needed. I explained that I had checked in online, saw my name on the monitor & then it disappeared. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missed. She asked for my name & told me I didn't have an appointment at that location. I showed her the email confirmation & my order. She said I hadn't checked in then, asked for my ID, grabbed it out of my hand, took it to the kiosk in the waiting area, checked me in there and came back. At that point, the male person asked what I was doing, and said "I told you, your paperwork is over there", pointing to the window next to his desk. I said "I don't know what that means. I was waiting for someone to call my name." Both of the people behind the desk then yelled at me that it meant that they were ready for me. I calmly told them that it would be helpful if they would express that clearly, as I don't work there and don't know that the position of paperwork means I should go back into their HIPAA-protected work area. This entire exchange happened in front of what was now a full waiting room. Another patient trying to get help from the male person behind the front desk said to me "Wow, I can see how this would be pretty frustrating." My response was "They would benefit from giving people clear instructions." At that point, the technician took over interactions with me. He was very calm, friendly & chill. He apologized for the behavior of the people at the front desk, and acknowledged that the guidance they gave me was very vague. The rest of my appointment was great. My tech was easily the most skilled at blood drawing. He had to take about 15 vials from me, and I literally felt nothing. Not even a pinch. We had a lovely conversation. I was very grateful for the contrasting energy he brought to my experience at this location. It felt almost as if he & the other techs were trying really hard to counter the rude people up front. The two front desk people could use training on clear communications, and working with people respectfully. People are not getting lab work because they're in great health. This is a population who is often navigating challenging health stuff. Encountering was appeared to be self-imposed disorganization & lashing out disrespect is a pretty awful & entirely avoidable situation. My lab tech deserves recognition / a promotion for both his technical skills, but also the untrainable power to connect with the humans he's working with, respectfully, calmly and kindly. I've been to the Labcorp Mill Valley location & the vibe was super easy & mellow. None of the angst of 2233 Post Labcorp. It doesn't have to be this way. Lapcorp needs to start managing the people behind the front desk. They either need to be wildly retrained & replaced entirely. I've given this full review to Lapcorp when they requested feedback today. And I invited them to reach out to me to further discuss. I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, I'll make the super inconvenient & more expensive trip over the bridge to Mill Valley going forward. The location convenience of 2233 Post Labcorp isn't worth getting verbally abused by the front desk staff.
