We were pulling a large boat from Oregon to Texas when the change oil light came on in our truck. We were rolling through Moab and noticed the nice clean shop off of the main road. The crew was exceedingly friendly and even let us bring our dog into the waiting area to get him out of the heat. Not only were they were quick and efficient with the oil change...we showed up just before closing and they stayed to get it done instead of asking us to return in the morning. Slick Rock Auto Spa, wonderful staff and excellent service. I had them work on my pickup, and had a minor thing that bothered me. It wasn't something that affected my truck, just I didn't like it (ocd with symmetrics). Bob didn't say anything or complain he just said ok. They pulled in the back. And began to look at how to fix the issue I had, with no scheduled appointment. In about twenty minutes,they had the problem resolved free of charge. I am pleased with the outcome. These gentlemen were incredibly helpful and honest. I am from out of town and was traveling by myself when the brakes on my car starting squeaking horribly. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to complete my trip home to Colorado. They looked at the car and found that my rotors were rusted, which is why they were making such horrible noises after driving on dirt roads, but the brakes were safe to drive on. Went here to have some minor auto work checked on the recommendation from an O'Rileys employee a block down. Very quick service, nothing was wrong and the double checked everything and sent me on my way. Did not even charge me for any of it. The people were very professional and did not blow me off despite having more serious repairs to perform on other cars. read more

I cannot recommend this business for anything related to a check engine light. Bob (the owner) did not stand by his repair. After an EGR flow insufficient was diagnosed, a part in new condition was purchased by me due to the part being on a nationwide backorder from Chevy and not available at any repair shop. The part was replaced and about 96 miles later came back on. I took the vehicle back to Bob, he ran the diagnostic computer on it and the same exact code P0401 was displayed. After $230 in labor and $45 parts to replace the part later, the car has exactly the same problem as it did before. When trying to get Bob to stand by his work and diagnose the car further, he refused and directed me to the Chevy dealership as they supposedly have better diagnostic equipment and mechanics to work on this problem. Two stars for at least my car isn't worse off, but after spending $230 in labor I would expect a repair shop to stand by their work and be able to diagnose the real issue causing the check engine light. The lesson learned here is go with the car's dealership for check engine light related problems unless you just want to gamble with a repair shop incapable of diagnosing the real problem and standing by their work. read more

Firstly I feel that it's important to say that I'm a Moab resident and would never want to leave a bad review on small businesses in town. The only reason I feel compelled to write this review is for the incredibly terrible service I received a week ago at Slick Rock Auto Spa. Initially, I was very hopeful-- I called to see if a friend who was visiting from out of town (she started hearing strange sounds on her drive into Moab) could bring her vehicle in to get looked at sometime over the coming week. The person I spoke to on the phone was helpful and said we could bring it in and they would run a diagnostic on it. When we came to drop the vehicle off, there was a different person at the desk and I explained the backstory to him-- that we had called and spoken with someone who said we could bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic sometime that week. He asked us to tell him what we were hearing and we explained the concerning sounds coming from under the hood on the driver's side. This person, without looking at the car in any capacity, immediately stopped us and said that they wouldn't run a diagnostic on it. In fact, he said he knew *exactly* what was wrong with the vehicle, that it was a transmission issue, and that not only was the project too big for them to do at this shop but that my friend might not be able to drive it home, and her best bet was to go to Grand Junction to have it looked at. He said all of this to us without looking at the vehicle *at all* or asking anyone else at the shop who may have spoken to me on the phone. He not only was condescending but he was turning away our business for no justifiable reason. As two women (one of whom is a woman of color) walking into this store and receiving this treatment when asking to pay for a basic service like a diagnostic, I found this interaction especially concerning to say the least. Since then, I have called and spoken to the owner and received a halfhearted apology about the issue. Sadly based on this experience I can't say that I would recommend these folks in the future for any type of service. PS: My spouse, who was out of town at the time but returned home and was able to help, resolved the issue after looking under the hood. Guess what? Wasn't the transmission. Not even close. read more

We were visiting Moab/Canyonlands in late Oct 2020. On our day of departure, after running an errand in the early morning, I went back out to pack up and start my 2014 Ford F150... engine turns over but won't start. Called around and everyone couldn't get us in today, except these guy. We had the truck towed to Slick Rock where both Bob & Morgan looked at the truck. After a couple of phone calls and an interim visit (by taxi) at 5pm, Bob called and said it was all fixed. It was a great relief & surprise and we felt lucky he could get the part and fix the truck. We checked out of the hotel and headed out to Phoenix at 6pm. These guys really helped us out of a bind and took care of a bad situation (we were stranded), which we were so thankful for. This place came highly rated and recommended, so take my review with a grain of salt. My experience here was terrible. They took over 2 weeks to repair a small amount of body damage, didn't communicate with my insurance company, didn't communicate with me, and when I finally asked, after 17 days what was taking so long, the guy on the phone told me it was my fault it had taken so long (?!?!) and that my car was ready (this was the first I'd heard that my car was done) and to pay my "damn" bill and then hung up on me. So no....I can't recommend them. read more
