For those who want to keep skiing on the back side of Silver Star Mountain, Paradise Camp can be a…read moresolid choice if you can avoid the crowded peak lunch hour. It's got a limited (but decent) menu, a friendly staff, and even a small selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Prices are normal for a ski area. (Not bad for the top of a mountain, with no roads to the front door.) After a long morning of skiing, I stopped in the early afternoon for a bread bowl of chili, plus a beer. The chili was outstanding, with fresh bell peppers that still had a touch of crunchiness. Not wanting to fill up too much, I left most of the bread bowl on the plate. The beer, a local pale ale, hit the spot. (It's the perfect ski energy beverage...if you have just one). Another strategy I saw from other skiiers was to hit the back side early for 'first tracks' and then go to Paradise Camp for a late breakfast. Paradise offers a very short breakfast menu, including an egg breakfast, a wrap, a muffin, or a bagel, plus the usual morning beverages. Gives me ideas for next time, if I can get up early enough.

Finally had the chance to stop in for lunch with the kids the other day. It's normally quite busy,…read moreso we were lucky when we managed to find two tables for our party of 9. We had 5 kids aged 4-8 and 4 adults. The food options are fantastic for adults. I ordered a beef burrito with a side of curry soup and it was very delicious. There was definitely some spice to it. The chicken club that my husband ordered was also very good. Where I couldn't give it all 5 stars was because the menu was not at all child friendly. While we have some fairly adventurous children, we thought the turkey lentil soup would be perfect. We didn't anticipate that it would be so spicy, so the kids weren't able to handle it. The chilli dog option was the only other reasonable choice for the kids, making the hot dog plain and the chilli on the side. For the price though, it's certainly not the most cost-effective choice as a parent, since the kids only have room for the hot dog and not the rest. A child friendly menu would be great! Perhaps a grilled cheese, or quesadilla, or child portioned, non-spicy soup. I understand there aren't too many kids that venture to the backside, but there are a few, and it would be nice to give them lunch options! SilverStar is so very family-friendly and family-oriented, so this would only align with those values. We would definitely go back. The service was great and it's a wonderful spot for a break when on the backside.
