She is one of the best tour guides I've yet encountered and I've taken a hell of a lot of tours. She speaks very clearly (we're both native speakers of American English, so that helped as well), projects her voice well, and almost always speaks with clear intention. I never felt she was wasting our time with too much detail or circular talking; the pacing of the route and stops worked very well. She did a great job managing the group, making clear where we were going and where we should stand to see and hear everything while not blocking pedestrian traffic. She encouraged questions and made the experience interactive, which kept us fully engaged the whole time. At no point was I bored or wondering when the tour would end; in fact, I was surprised at the end of both tours that 3 hours had already flown by. Hannah did a great job of demonstrating the modern relevance of history and exploring the conflicting interests and biases of the people involved in historical events. A lot of this history is very heavy, particularly on the Third Reich tour, and she gave it all the gravity and respect it deserves. I highly recommend these tours, especially for history-lovers.

When we…read morefirst met (as he picked us up at our hotel), I'd realized the folks at the Instrument Museum in Berlin had failed to return my passport, so I asked if we could stop by there, on the way to Potsdam, our tour destination, and Johannes made a special trip there for me! What a relief it was to get my passport back. The van Johannes uses is very comfortable, and he stocks cold drinks in case you get thirsty. You can shape your tours based on your interests. Our itinerary included a trip through the countryside to view Bablesberg castle and park- what an idyllic place! Then we traveled to Potsdam to view some of the reconstructed buildings. After that, we saw the water pump (which looks like a mosque and powered the fountains at Sanssouci), and we got our tickets for our tour. As we had time before our tour, we ate lunch in the old Dutch quarter- at the Flying Dutchman (delicious!). Our tour of Sanssouci was marvelous, and we never could have seen so much, and learned so much, so pleasantly, without our guide Johannes.

Jules and Duarte were both wonderful tour guides whom had endless upon endless information and made the tours exciting and informational. Jules really gave you an insight to what Nazi Germany was like on the Sachsenhausen Tour, and Duarte really broke down the separation of East and West Berlin on the Berlin Wall Tour. The next time I come back to Europe, I plan on seeing if the next city I visit has Sandeman's tours.

Jeremy is indeed a masterful story teller with great insights on the city and its history. I learned there were 2711 blocks in the Holocaust Memorial which ironically are the same as the pages in the Talmud. Jeremy has a very easy going style and pays close attention to feedback which is so rare and important. I've had other experiences where I simply wasn't heard and that is Jeremy's special sauce... an ability to listen and carve out parts that appeal to travelers. The tour was 2 hours long (I hear it was 4 in the past) and didn't get boring or tiring at all. The highlight for me (which is less about the tour and more about Berlin) was seeing the Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas (Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe).
