Our house is extremely well laid out and was designed exactly the way we wanted, when we went to them with some concept ideas. We had a tough time with our contractor, but Patrick kept him in line with the specs they selected and although our builder was a challenge, Patrick and his firm kept the project on plan. We'd definitely use him again. You get what you pay for, as excellent architecture does not come cheap. We are thankful he designed our Martha's Vineyard House. We were very pleased With him and his staff which was mostly Cesar for us!

NEDC did a major design and renovation on our house in 2024, centering around the kitchen. It's…read morestill amazing to me how much positive impact this project has had on our lives. The new open space is just a joy to be in, even when we're not cooking, but even more so when we are. We are grateful for Schneidee's guidance through the design phase, recommending so much we would never have thought of ourselves, and generally being sure the new space would work for us. And it was tremendously comforting to have someone of John's expertise and resourcefulness guiding us through construction. Both Schneidee and John were a real pleasure to work with. I must admit, I thought "lifting spirits with spaces" was just a nice slogan, but it is indeed a real experience we have everyday. Super happy and super grateful!

David listened to our concerns and our ideas, and then brought other ideas to the table that we never would have thought of, but which would creatively solve our problems. He was a great listener, and then direct end up front with us about possibilities. We hope that we will have the opportunity to work with NEDC on a longer-term basis in the future.

If you are looking for an Architect to design your new home or help you remodel your existing one,…read moreyou cannot do better than Charles Navratil at Architects 2. For a relatively modest sum of money, Charles helped us with a very challenging remodeling project. He helped us with a very significant gut-and-remodel job, where we had strict setback concerns, neighborhood guidelines, and original challenges. For example, we wanted to build an enclosed porch around a 50+ year old Maple Tree. And, he did it! If I were to sum up Charlie's greatest strength, it would be his vision. He comes up with designs that are inspiring, yet functional. He also helped us through the entire project and made sure that our contractors built the house as designed. Charlie's a quiet guy, and doesn't come off as either the "starched-white-shirt" kind or architect, or the "I'm the greatest" salesman-architect. But, judge him on his work product, and you won't be disappointed. You should probably also know that I have no other affiliation with Architects 2, and in fact, chose them after meeting with a dozen prospective firms. In fact, they don't know that I'm writing this review. So please accept my opinion when I say, Architects 2 is the best!

Beverly Cummings - Renovations made enjoyable…read more I recently had the pleasure of working with Charles M Navratil and Adrien Mercure from ARCHITECTS 2 in Newton Highlands. I had the difficult task of converting a second and third floor commercial space, in a 100 year old commercial building, to "higher end" second and third floor residential apartments in Newton. This "mixed use" change required permit requirements, zoning and design expertise. Above and beyond they made it happen. I am so proud of my building and would recommend using Architects 2 for any project. Their knowledge of design, spatial functionality, zoning, building codes, not to mention their patience, reliability and support for such a big undertaking. Highest praise!

We struggled for over a year to find someone to help us retro-fit our lower cabinet and counter top for a new cook top. Then we found Paul! He made sure to present us with the best possible options and then executed it wonderfully. When I decided I needed doors for my office, Paul was the first person I thought of because I wanted the job done right and to look great. I am so happy with the outcome. I highly recommend him!

We contacted Paul at DesignWorks Company (DWC) to get a bid on renovating our bathroom. Paul got…read moreright back to us and arranged to come look at our (sad, dated) bathroom. He had some great ideas on how to enhance the space, showing us how we could easily have a bigger shower. We checked with a couple of other companies, but went with DWC because we liked Paul's responsiveness, ability to explain, patience, and flexibility. The bid wasn't the cheapest, but DWC did a fantastic job and was worth every penny! Paul walked us through every step, from design ideas to site logistics to explaining the process to connecting us with wonderful, sensible local vendors for tile, fixtures, paint, and window treatments. He and his crew are reliable, trustworthy, friendly, and CLEAN, besides being outstanding craftsmen. The subcontractors he engages are just as wonderful. They all have a good relationship with the city and took care of all permits and communication with the city. His ability to coordinate and adjust schedules kept the project humming along - it was finished in less time than anticipated despite a global pandemic hitting right at the end! He and his subs worked with the city to get everything signed off despite the city's shutdown. If you've read this far, I hope you'll let me share a story or two. How clean are they at DWC? They set up a staging area in a spare room with plastic walls and floor covering, and covered the stairs as well. One day I looked out the window to see them vacuuming the *driveway* at the end of a day when they were sawing outdoors. How good are they? They found a squeaky subfloor board on the landing and fixed it (yes, it cost extra) because they were worried it might warp the tiles in the bathroom. The subcontractors pointed out many times little details that made them want to work with DWC. How creative are they? They wanted to recess our medicine cabinet but found a pipe behind the wall. So they bumped out the wall there so we could have a recessed cabinet (which we hadn't even thought of, but which looks much nicer than one hanging on the wall). How quiet are they? I work from home, and they never disturbed me. Or our dog, for that matter, but she's pretty deaf. In fact, they were always happy to see her, which of course endeared them to me even more. How perfectionist are they? They fixed some dings made in the other rooms in the course of the work and even had the painter do the stairway, even though most of those dings were done by us. Finally, if you've read this far, the DWC crew and everyone who works with them are just plain NICE. It was a pleasure to have them work with us, and I would engage them again in a heartbeat.
