I forgot I even visited this "trailer" when I was in Cambridge last year. It was my last evening…read moreat Pembroke and we Yanks had all spent the day engaging in inebriated debauchery. We made that last day count! After all that, a small group of us decided to hit this infamous spot up for some takeaway as we were in dire need of major grubbage. I ordered a huge burger with bacon, and a side of "chips." I ate the pile of chow back at my room in V building and I must say that it was VERY TASTY! The burger was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. The chips were hearty but I could do without the mayo dipping sauce. That to me is just gross, but to each his/her own I guess. Service was satisfactory and quick -- I can imagine how undeniably tough it can be working in a hot kitchen serving chow to hungry drunkards in the wee hours of the night. I commend the line cooks for their professionalism, attention to detail, and prompt service. I wonder if the food would taste any different had I come straight-laced and sober. ...til I return Trailer of Life as we shall meet again!

If you're roaming the streets of Cambridge at 2 a.m., you have two options - go back to your dorm…read moreand sacrilegiously barf all over the perfectly trimmed lawn before stumbling into your room and putting yourself to bed, or eat at The Trailer of Life before going back to your dorm to sacrilegiously barf all over the perfectly trimmed lawn, etc. etc. It is what it is. A trailer that serves greasy, salty, fatty, filling foods like cheeseburgers, sausages, and fries when you need them most. There is honestly nothing else open at this time of night, but why would you want there to be? The Trailer of Life does what its namesake promises. It gives drunk zombies enough life to walk themselves home only to wake up in the morning and regret everything they've done the night before. Like Batman, the Trailer shows up out of the darkness when you most need it, and serves justice. By justice, I mean eye-roll inducing cheese fries with vinegar (request the vinegar). Sure, the employees will hit on you in different languages, but maybe if you bat your eyelashes back at them they'll give you some extra cheese or the fattiest burger patty on the grill. The Trailer of Life is also a gathering place for exchange students and locals, who seem to become philosophers between the hours of 1 and 3 a.m. I've had many a conversation with Brits, Indians, Americans, Spaniards, and Germans about racism, relationships, dreams, and the state of US politics while gathered around the warm light of The Trailer of Life. Bringin' people together y'all. I'll admit I would not eat their food in broad daylight where my pride could easily find me. But for a snack in the middle of a drunken night and some memorable rambling conversation, it's absolutely perfect.

Gone are the lovely big pancake rolls(spring rolls), replaced by the tiny tasteless frozen variety…read more No crunchy onions in a chicken curry as we have always had, the combo of mushroom, pea, onion and chicken...there is lots of chicken and a very small amount of potato and carrot, strange really as far more costly to produce than the old recipe. The quality of food had declined with these changes. Whilst delivery/collection times, in particular on a bank holiday are very acceptable, our ~£45 take-away for 4 persons was substandard. Firstly, when we arrived home with the food, we discovered it was missing the chicken balls, which is an inconvenience when you all want to eat together and the dish you have selected and paid for is missing. Had to telephone Magic Wok and ask them to deliver and wait a further 15 mins while other dishes went cold. The mini spring rolls were absolutely flavourless and barely any filling. The singapore noodles were not like any signapore noodles I or my Chinese friend have ever known and v. bland. Schezwan chicken was also v. poor - lacked spice and flavour. My husbands prawn toast not only looked unappetizing, it was utterly tasteless. So underwhelmed and disappointed were all of us with this take-away (including the other dishes we ordered) that sadly we won't be ordering from Magic Wok again. Summary would not recommend/be prepared for disappointing food.
