I am only giving one star as you have to give something to review. The first 6 months we were…read morecomfortable with the school. As time went on there were many red flags that in the beginning were more of an annoyance than anything. Things like losing jacket, clothes, kids coming home in other diapers that were not ours, always being asked for diapers and wipes when I just provided etc. The owner is very hard to communicate with. I witnessed on 2 occasions cursing in front of the kids. I saw very short tempered behavior/lack of control with the kids by the owner andI also noticed this with her own children. My request for no sugar (except birthdays) was ignored. Our kids came home always very thirsty and would ask for water and drank a lot. It seems the kids were not properly hydrated during the day as by the time you feel thirsty it means you are already dehydrated. This issue was also experienced by others there. Our weekly rate was increased when they turned 3 when typically the rate goes down. When I asked why it was going up I was told an error was made when we started and she kept me at the rate but never told me of this error until she raised me a year later. There is not one teacher there from a year ago. A revolving door of teachers as the owner is very hard to get along with. This tells a lot about the situation there. I noticed this was becoming an issue with my kids as it was constantly changing. Then the last straw after a disturbing situation that involved my son and another classmate. On the heals of that there was a project involving cut outs of bikini models from "sports illustrated" magazine (this magazine was used per the owner) The project was called "swimsuit collage". No pictures of a family at the beach or moms and dads. Just women posing in bikinis. I asked the owner if she knew about this project and she did and saw no issue with it. This is not the message I want for my 3 year olds. There is a reason these magazines have a cover over them at the grocery stores! NOT appropriate for any school age child let alone 3 year olds! Too many red flags here and we since moved our sons. After speaking with others who have associated with this facility and its owner it has only confirmed that everything is NOT right here and this facility should be looked at closer. I am only sad I did not do something sooner.

From the owner: our specialty is to teach our children to compassioned, kind, loving and saying please excuse me…read moreand thank you.

I just moved from Seminole county. I have been to YMCA of Orange County as well. I was not ready to…read moresee the outdated YMCA in Volusia county. I wish the county could afford to upgrade the equipment, refresh the bathrooms and shower rooms and open the swimming pool on the weekends as well! Not a great variety of classes. I miss my other YMCA. Hope for the changes to come

I can't remember ever being to a YMCA before, so I can't really compare them on a YMCA scale. But I…read morecan compare them to some gyms that I've been to. This isn't a big city YMCA, so I expect it to be a little small. There were enough machines in the gym area to make me happy. Off of the top of my head, I can't think of anything that they had that I would particularly miss from my LA Fitness. I visited with my girlfriend on a guest pass (which is nice to know that it's an option, as at LA Fitness, the only options are to sign up for a free ten day pass and have to spend an hour trying to be sold, etc). I had to sign my name, and it took seconds - yay! Also on that note, she is a member of the Orlando Y, and she mentioned that DeLand gave her some flac for coming in to "not her home Y" or something of that sort. Here, she just scanned her card and she was good to go! I still need to do a little more research regarding pricing and guest privledges, etc (as I plan on doing some road tripping, don't feel like paying for hotels, and would like a place to shower, at minimum), but I think there's a good chance I'll sign up here. It's a nice location for me - a nice little scooter ride from my house, and it's right off of the highway on the Howland exit. From most areas of Deltona, it is pretty accessible through roads that aren't too busy. I'm pretty sure it's closer than my Orange City LA Fitness, so I recommend anyone in Deltona to check this out before signing up there. I don't have kids, but I noticed that they had a dedicated trainer showing kids how to use machines in a little area that seemed almost dedicated to them. That seemed nice. :) So it's probably a good choice if you have kids. I didn't try the pool, but I like the fact that it's outside. I didn't see the locker rooms either, but I rarely use them, just for a quick change. Here, I'm most likely to scoot there in my gym clothes anyway. They have lots of classes, and my LA fitness has just moved theirs around, so the ones that I want to attend are nearly impossible for me - again, more research I need to do. They gave a great first impression, and I look forward to going back soon!
