I went here for a little over a year. It started out to be a pretty good situation. Jack was a nice guy and gave a decent haircut at a fair price.
Over time, the quality of the cut went down. He would repeatedly ask me which trimmer gauge to use. (Most of the stylists I've been to in the past make notes in a journal or on their phone so they're prepared for their clients.) Not a huge thing, but also not my job to remember it.
The last cut I had was the deal breaker. Just not a quality cut. Really not even, and far shorter than I've ever had in my life. It was the first time in a while that he didn't ask what trimmer to use, so I'm guessing he used the wrong one. I had hoped it was just laying down a lot because it was still wet. My wife commented that it reminded her of her dad when he started chemo. (My hair is thinking considerably as I age, I'm sure the bad cut didn't help.)
As a side note, I've never cared about anyone's politics, if you're a nice guy, that's all I need to know. But when a paying customer is in your chair, you either find out if you share the same views, or maybe just keep to a different topic. I already knew we had different views, but didn't much care as it really didn't come up often until that day. When you make it a point to spout your theories while you're on my dime, and couple it with a bad cut, it's pretty much a guarantee I won't be back. read more
