Well, let's fix this gap now…read more For years, I often got this park's name mixed up with Milliken Park at the southeast corner of Steeles Avenue East and McCowan Road. I still do occasionally. Milliken Mills Park is next door to Milliken Mills High School, behind Milliken Mills Community Centre and McDonald's. I need to think more M's here. I have often parked in the lot that the community centre, McDonald's, and the park all share. I'm either returning library books or eating in my car after grabbing some food at McD's. During this pandemic, the outdoor basketball court has been closed. The small playground is still being used by kids who were happily playing there on Saturday. Most folks are walking around the park to get some fresh air and exercise. It's a medium-sized park. The dandelions are out right now, all fuzzy and white. In the wintertime, many kids are tobogganing here. The hills are manmade and aren't exactly huge. However, they delight tobogganers, so it's all good. Washrooms are typically available at the community centre. I'm not sure if they are during this pandemic. It's a decent park. I should drop by more often. (219)

If your child enjoys slides and swings and jungle gym, you will find them here. The layout of the park takes unexpected turns giving you lots of narrower areas to enjoy some family time without getting disturbed by other visitors. The difference from other parks that often also have all these features is that this park is situated next to Streetsville, one of the most happening areas in the city. There are great restaurants here, and if you are lucky, you also might observe a dog competition on the Main Street for 10 minutes while your pick-up order is getting ready!

There is a small trail along the Credit River behind the community centre with lots of shade and benches to sit on. There are other infrastructure nearby, including the community centre (outdoor swimming pool during the summer), baseball diamond, and soccer field just right across the bridge. The only feedback I have is that the trail is too short and is disconnected from the rest of the trail system. The bridge connects to a small island (which is where the soccer field is), but it should not stop there. They can connect northward to Timothy Street Park so it forms a continuous path to River Grove Community Centre.

There were quite a few people out and about so we all had the same idea. We've been to Humber Bay Park East many many times and don't know why we've never gone to Humber Bay Park West, which is less than five minutes from it. There are a couple parking lots and we found a spot in the one in the middle. We walked around a nearby point and then head southwest and ended up at the dog park. Then we turned around and headed to the beginning of the park, doubling back to the car. It's a nice park and we'll be back!

They rent out the fire pits and have skewers for guests to use to roast marshmallows (bring your own) over the fire. Every time we come here we always have a blast and I can't wait for our next bonfire next year. We always bring snacks, hot dogs, and marshmallows to roast on the fire and everyone leaves stuffed.

I don't think I've ever called it Christie Pits Park, which is its formal name. At the turn of the 20th century, the land that is now Christie Pits was actively excavated as a massive quarry for sand, gravel, and clay to build Toronto's early roads. Once these resources were depleted, the quarry (the pit) was filled to become a park. It used to be called Willowvale Park. Locals back then called it Christie Pits, which became the official name of this park. I learned about the Christie Pit riot in grade 9 history class. It happened in 1933 and was roughly a six-hour race riot happening around the Great Depression, and the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany and anti-semitism. This park is large. It's bordered by Bloor Street West to the south, the CP rail line to the north, Christie Street to the west, and Ossington Avenue to the east. Christie Street, and ultimately this pit, was named after William Christie, a co-founder of Mr Christie. I have a couple of fond memories of this park. I took a Cantonese class in the summer after my grade 10 year was over. This class was at Kent Senior Public School (rest in school peace) at Dufferin and Bloor. I had a friend who lived on Christie Street. After school, we'd walk over to her house to hang out, cutting through this park to get there. In grade 12, I was in my high school's concert marching band. We were a part of Toronto's Eaton's (a department store that no longer exists) Santa Claus Parade. We all met at our high school on a Sunday. We got a chartered bus ride to Christie Pits where we were dropped off. It was the starting point of the parade. I frankly don't recall where the end point of the parade was. I do remember my clarinet working when it wasn't windy while marching and was silent when I tried playing it in a headwind during the parade! I passed by this park last Wednesday. It was nice that traffic along Bloor Street West was busy. I was waiting for traffic to move and ended up looking at this park fondly. The most notable features of this park is that it has three baseball diamonds and four pools. It also has a ton of majestic trees and greenery, which provides a lot of beauty to this area. In the summertime, this park hosts the Christie Pits Film Festival, which is free as part of the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show. There are also local art events that I'd like to check out when summer is finally here. It's a nice park in a cool part of Toronto. (204)

Ah yes. This place…read more To the north, you have three soccer fields, two tennis courts, a playground, a running track, a gazebo, and a water park. The water park is really lackluster, no one uses it. The gazebo is regularly occupied in the morning by Asian grannies doing tai chi. A sight to behold. The south has a baseball field, a larger playground, a skatepark, a basketball court, two more tennis courts, and another soccer field. This half is often bustling with activity, especially in the summer. The place looks right proper and is well-maintained by the staff. The pond is a nice touch that is surrounded by the verdant fields. If you haven't come to this place for a little walk, give it a try. Just look out for the geese.
