Located about a dozen metres from Burwood Railway Station the range of goods is impressive. Cosmetics, stationary, hair accessories, bags, cutlery, oversized plush toys, ornaments and clocks are just a few of the goodies on offer. The Hello Kitty Wonderland is great if you want to buy a unique children's present that differs from the big department store range. I recently stopped by to pick up some goodies for my three-year-old niece. I chose a Hello Kitty mug and filled it with an assortment of wacky hair-clips and lip-glosses. It ended up costing around $30, which in my opinion is a little too expensive for the quality of the merchandise. Nonetheless, the kids (particularly little girls) LOVE the stuff. So in that way, it's worth paying a little bit more. And encouraging toys that aren't Barbie's or Bratz is an added bonus!

Well, with no sewing experience, I knew the first step was to buy a machine. When I told my partner of this weeks obsession and need, he commented saying - When you can't find what you're looking for, you will probably find it at Spotlight! Hmm.. I have never visited Spotlight before, and wasn't sure if they even sold sewing machines. It turn out, they do. And a huge range too! Unfortunately what Spotlight didn't seem to have is staff. I waited for over ten minutes, exploring the machines on my own, before giving up and heading to the from desk to ask for help. All I got was, that's all we have, a take it or leave it attitude. From the videos I had seen, I knew the machines were not a one size fits all. Quilting requires specific needles and I wasn't sure if the models on display could support that.. With no brochures, and no sales assistants to answer my queries, I decided to postpone my purchase. Well, turns out, I'm now more interested in growing my own tomatoes! Heading to Bunnings tomorrow..

That being said, if you're making a decision about sewing machines or house blinds, perhaps do some research first so you know what you are looking for. There is ample outdoor and undercover parking. A really great and extensive Spotlight. I love it. Would be lost without it.

I hear this is the place where florists in Sydney come to get their wholesale stash, so the pros arrive at the crack of dawn to stock up. If you are a regular person like myself, there's no need to come so early. I took the train in from the city at about 9am on a Saturday? You have to walk about 10 minutes from the station but there are signs everywhere. Arrived a bit past 9:30 and there were still plenty flowers left. It was even better, because this was when the sellers wanted to go home so they really lower the price. It was down to $10 for 10 bunches of roses. There were mums, lilies, peonies (a bit pricier than roses but not by much). I was in flower heaven. Can't wait to come back on another Saturday to have another go at bouquet making.

The market is located at Flemington, very close to Sydney's Olympic Park. It is the main wholesale market for all florists to shop. It is also open to the public and anyone can buy small quantities too. I usually like to visit the place around closing time which is morning 11 am, yes, AM.. It is only open from morning 5 - 11 am. At that time, most florists are willing to sell a small bunch of flowers and cater to individuals too. My favourite gerbera's are $6 for a dozen! They are the freshest you can ever buy and for the price, it's fantastic. I try to buy new flowers every week for my home.
