Watching Mister Bean does wonders for distraction. ;) Highly recommend, which is saying A LOT considering my strong aversion to dentists!

Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

I suppose this fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of care. I honestly love the team at Metropolitan Dental. From my perspective, there are three elements that set them apart. Chairside manner. I have always felt safe, comfortable and included in what was happening to me. The hygenists and Dr. Walters himself always explains what they are doing and why. I have always felt like a participant in what was happening rather than simply an open mouth having things done to it. Gentle Hands. Not sure how else to term it but Dr. Walters and each of the hygenists I had the pleasure to have work on my teeth, were exceptionally gentle with how they handled the various instruments both in and around my mouth. Not once do I recall having winced or experienced so much as a twinge of pain. Warm Familiar Welcome. This one applies to all - from Grace and the rest of the team in office management and adminstration, the hygenists, right to Dr. Walters (Dr. B) himself. I have always felt warmly welcomed. I have always felt recognized. And it astonishes me to no end how the team at Metropolitan Dental remembers details about my life discussed during a prior visit. I have never understood why so many of my friends hated going to the dentist - that is until I had to see a new dentist in TO recently. The experience was eye opening....as in painful and rough!! In my last appointment the hygienist was scrapping my teeth very abrasive after I told her about my teeth sensivity. She insisted and continued. She made my gum bleed multiple times because it "had to be done". I told her I cannot continue and she put a note on my file to have freezing done to scrape more tar off for "next time", after I told her I do not like needles. She was awful. Last year they took 8 x-rays of my teeth which was extremelly unnecessarily and insurance only covered a portion. Upon this same visit hygienist told me my x ray was due again and I told her no and she asked why, why? Because they took 4 extra photos last time to try to scam $ and everyone knows you don't need teeth x rays every year for normal regular teeth. The place is so sketch. Don't go there.

Warning: Dr. Sharaf will give you a root canal whether you need it or not…read more I had a tooth ache caused by a recent filling replacement (getting rid of the mercury filling). Because my dentist was not readily available and I was already convinced my tooth was infected (pain causes you to lose your good judgement), I went to Dr. Sharaf, the emergency dentist who specializes in root canals (which i did not know at the time). He took an x-ray, and told me he hates to suggest a root canal because of how expensive it is, and it is only a last resort, but that I clearly needed a root canal. Then he asked me to do the "cold test" which is a q-tip that has been cooled with dry ice, applied to the tooth. Supposedly if it continues to cause pain after a few seconds, you need a root canal. When i went back to my dentist, she was furious that he had done this. She looked at the x-ray and knew there was no way the filling was causing an infection, and there are several other possible causes for inflammation and pain. The "cold test" is a complete scam. Obviously if you are already experiencing pain, a painful stimulus is going to exacerbate an abnormal pain response. However, that doesn't tell you anything about the ROOT cause of the problem! However when you are in PAIN, you desperately want to get rid of the pain, and sometimes lose your reasoning skills and trust the wrong people. I am 25 years old and will live the rest of my life with this mistake and gutted tooth. From this experience, I believe either Dr. Sharaf is incompetent to read an x-ray, or he is willing to use your insurance if you have it.

I was referred to Dr Wayne by Argyle and…read moreAssociates because they cancelled my tooth extraction right before August 16th, 2022 because they did not want to accomodate my special requirements to pull down the shades because I am heat intolerant and also I have asthma and heart issues and they did not want to bring down the heat to 18 or 19 degrees! After six months I was referred by the management from Argyle and Associates and then I ended up getting a date of Jan 5th, 2023 for 8:30 am to extract my back three teeth on the bottom left! I had called Dr Wayne prior to the appointment explaining too him that I was on antibiotics for my lungs because I have a condition called vasomotor rhinitis where my sinuses drain into my lungs and he said it was ok! On Jan 5th I showed up with my best friend and I told them all that my left bottom side is swollen and I think I have a infection inside the tooth! No one said anything about it or looked to see if that was the case! I went into a room and I was given 6 needles with marcaine and epinephrine and I am not supposed to take epinephrine because it will bring up my blood pressure and heart rate! Dr Wayne attempted too freeze me with this local anaesthetic and it didnt freeze 100% and I was screaming from pain instead and I told them after the six needles and the bright lam above me heating me up caused me to have chest pain and my blood pressure went up! Dr Wayne did not extract my teeth after that and said that I will have to do it another day and that I will need sedation and I told him from the beginning that I would need sedation because I react to epinephrine and I am heat intolerant and have lung and heart issues and sedation would be the appropriate way to remove my bottom lower back three teeth! I ask his asssitant Jay that I need a antibiotic because I believe that I have an infection and then Dr Wayne said he wasnt sure that I had a infection then I waited and was placed in another room to fill out forms to get into the Ottawa Hospital for sedation but I was told that there is a waiting period from 4 months too 2 years to get into the hopsital to be sedated! That was not a good siutation for me because I have already waited six months to go see Dr Wayne because Dr David Lee from Argyle and Associates would not accomadate me and cancelled my procedue last minute before August 16th, 2022! I left after I filled out the forms and then I came home and was still in pain from the infection in my tooth! I ended up going to Kemptville and the dentist told me that I had a infection in my tooth and that my teeth or gums would not freeze because there was a old caviity in one of my back teeth and it was cracked inside and the nerve was open ant that is why I was in so much pain! The dentist sent me home with antibiotics and then will call me back for a follow up to only extract one tooth not three! I have a question here for Dr Wayne..why didnt he know that I had a infection and why didnt he give me a prescription of antibiotics before I left his dental office and why did he say I needed three teeth extracted when it was only one tooth that was infected???? At prior dentist's office, I found myself physically clenching as they cleaned my teeth. Last week, I went to Aqua Dental for a new client assessment and cleaning, and - dare I say it - I am ALMOST looking forward to my next appointment. My first impressions of Aqua Dental were how thorough and kind they were. They explained everything to me, and I learnt so many things. I came back home and found myself passing along my newfound knowledge to my husband. The biggest bonus of all, my teeth have never felt so clean! To this day, I'm still rubbing my tongue along my teeth in awe. The dentist who did my cleaning is a perfectionist in his trade. I wasn't shamed for any of my bad dental habits (not flossing, not wearing my retainer), which helps reduce my anxiety for future appointments. I'm SO glad that I switched to Aqua Dental! I hope to take advantage of their comfort menu during my next visit, which includes things such as massage chairs, heated towels, weighted blankets. Don't be deterred by their long wait. When I submitted my request last month to become a new client, my appointment couldn't be scheduled until August 2023(!!). I'll start with a little info about me, I hate going to the dentist and avoided going at all costs, in fact I hadn't been in over 7 years, continually putting it off for fear of being judged! I guess you could call me a dental delinquent! Thanks to some not so gentle encouragement from my fiancee I finally agreed to go to her dentist after she explained how non-judgy they are here and she was 100% correct! I have seen both Dr. Bhargava and Dr. Telang here and they are both incredibly friendly (and non-judgmental) about your teeth! Dr. Telang explained in great detail all of the stats she was discussing with the hygenist as well as explaining in easy terms what you need to do. The hygenists here are also very friendly and gentle, despite needing to use many of the little hooks I had very little discomfort or pain! One final bonus is that they will deal directly with insurance if you have it, eliminating the hassle of having to deal with insurance companies yourself!
