After a friend told me about this place for low price braces, I was excited to look into it. Online, I was directed to make an appointment with the Avon office. The office is located in a building of salons suites. It sounds weird, but is totally professional. Once I found the place, I was greeted by Whitney. Whitney was friendly and explained the check in process. After she prepped the room, she brought me into my appointment. There was a retainer promo going on so my appointment was recorded. The appointment was super simple. She showed me a kit and took a lot of photos of my teeth. She of course asked me to pay for the program. I declined and Whitney wasn't pushy at all! It was so nice for her to understand I couldn't pay on the spot. I am waiting for my results, but I really did enjoy my appointment. read more

I first got my scan in Columbus because this was not open. My experience there was OK. However, I had an issue that arouse and low and behold this place was open and available. I had a 3'clock appointment, but after a hole in my scheduled opened up, I went there at 1' o'clock. They were more than happy to accommodate me and let me bump up my appointment. After going round and round with customer service on the phone I came in there upset. They far exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond to correct my issues. They were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Octavia was awesome. She walked me through everything step by step. Hopefully, I will not have any more issues and have to go back to the salon. But if I do, I will be in great hands. The verdict is still out on the Smiles Direct program as a whole, but after my experience at the salon my confidence has went way up. read more

I have already completed my Smile Direct Club treatment in Indiana. In summary, if you are willing to put up with a lot of insanity to save $3,000, go for it. I think it was worth the savings, although it was incredibly unprofessional and messy from a logistical standpoint. Pros: 1. You don't actually have to go to a physical location to use Smile Direct Club, but this one is Avon is polished and professional. The promotional materials are slick, and the staff members are nice and well trained. 2. Smile Direct Club works. I had pretty crooked teeth before I used it, and now they are nice and straight...not perfect, but I'm happy. 3. It's cheap. I paid $1,400 (Groupon) for the whole thing, including whitening gel and my first set of retainers. That's a third of the cost of Invisalign, for which I was quoted $4,400. Con: This company, despite the glossy facade, is an absolute mess. From nearly the very beginning, my experience with SmileDirect club was riddled with delays and confusion. It's clear that the company is currently expanding, which may account for some of the issues. Said issues included: - Delayed creation of aligners and retainers (as in MONTHS, not weeks). I would have requested a second refinement (to get my teeth a little straighter), but I was done playing the waiting game and wearing the same set of aligners, created to be worn for two weeks, for months. - Lack of clear communication (my treatment ended without me actually knowing it had ended and before my teeth were in an acceptable alignment, forcing me to do a lot of digging) - Inconsistent communication (I got a random email during my treatment telling me it was time to switch aligners when it wasn't, and the email seemed like it was supposed to come every time I switched aligners to request updates--I only got it once) - Contradictory information (instructions on packaging sometimes differ from instructions on website/given on the phone) - Uncomfortable aligners. During my refinement process, which for some reason required new molds, the aligners extended too far back and cut my gums and the roof of my mouth as soon as I put them in...I had to use eyebrow scissors to trim them. Like I said, the $3,000 price cut makes all of the shenanigans worth it, but it was still a frustrating and protracted experience. EDIT: I've gotten some questions about how to buy the Groupon. I've talked with 3 people who all lied to me, which i found out today from another customer service rep. They did not even talk to me about my treatment plan before charging me a deposit. The scripted conversations with the employees in this office showed that they truly were not trained for this. I called to see if they did truly cancel my account and process my refund because i talked with THREE different people to get it done, and today i was told that no one did it. Firstly, I would like to say, OCTAVIA is AWESOME! Her energy put me in a great mood. I wasn't feeling my best before my appointment. Thanks to her, my spirit was lifted. I arrived with so many questions, I left with confidence that all my questions were answered correctly. I love the company's set up. Octavia was very detailed about how it works & she was able to show me before/after pictures of the company's clients. I really love the ambassador program. I'm a blogger so to know that I can get a few people to sign up & receive $150 each referral! Less than 10 people will pay for my bill. I'm still debating to start the process because unfortunately, they can only fix my top teeth. My bottoms will need braces to pull two teeth in front. I was disappointed but to hear that I would receive an extra $250 off my balance, uplifted my spirit! I think that was more than fair. I booked my appointment during a promotion so here's what I received: $25 amazon email gift card for booking a in person appointment $150 off if I decide to purchase my aligners An addition $250 because they can only align my top teeth. The total was $1400. I will only pay roughly $1000. Where can you get that price to correct your teeth? I forgot to mention they have a payment plan. I would pay $250 for the down payment & $73 a month. Now that I think about it, it's a deal I can't pass. I plan on going to a orthodontist to correct my bottom teeth sooner or later. I decided to do Smile Direct after my dad had a good experience with his treatment. To start your program, you have the option of having the company mail you a kit to do your own impressions (about $80ish depending on promotions) or to head to one of the locations for a 3D scan for free. I chose to do the 3D scan after hearing that sometimes you have to do the at-home kits multiple times if it's done incorrectly. I also am hoping that doing the 3D scan will help speed up the process of getting my aligners. The location closest to Indianapolis is located in Avon, inside a Sola Salons location. I was greeted by Octavia who was very personable and who would be getting my scan together for me. She was very helpful and asked me throughout the process if I had any questions. During your appointment, they will take pictures of your teeth, as well as use a wand to do the 3D scan. You can see your scan being completed on the screen in real time! I was also sent home with a free teeth whitening kit and some other goodies in a tote bag. It will take about 2-3 days for my scans to be reviewed by the online orthodontist. You then confirm your treatment plan online, and aligners are shipped within 4-5 weeks. Definitely saved time (and money!) as compared to the impression kit! I didn't know what to expect when I entered the building because it is an assortment of different suites from hair stylist and barbers to Smile Direct. However, my experience with Hailey and the team was really professional. The technology they use to scan your teeth is incredibly accurate and impressive. I ended up selecting a plan the same day but I appreciate that I could just have easily walked out with time to think about it. Hailey was kind enough to even give me the insurance code and some time alone to call my insurance provider to see how much is covered. I would recommend to others that need mild to moderate alignment. They gave me the information I needed to make and informed decision but it felt awkward. The set up was clean and professional but it's not what you think when you think about orthodontics. Buyer beware. I canceled my "treatment plan" the day I received it. (The fact that they don't work with insurance gave me pause.) I got two email confirmations of the cancellation with a promise that my $250 downpayment would be refunded. A month later, the aligners, which I will not use, arrived anyway. They did not refund my money and I had to get a new FSA card to prevent further billing. They are continuing to send bills. I've reported them to the attorney general and hope for a resolution soon. Update: I finally made it to the end of my trays, and the last tray didn't fully straighten my teeth (two were still one behind the other other, and would therefore go back to their original spot during the day). Because of this, I stopped wearing my retainer at night. It was just too much back and forth movement for the teeth that weren't fully aligned. Also, by my second or third tray, I noticed my jaw started popping when I would chew. It didn't stop until I stopped using the trays. I wish I had taken my money to a professional ortho instead. I know they promote that doctors look over everything, but I highly doubt it. - - - - Easy location to find and Everyone was very nice! The process to get the 3D scan was easy and quick, and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My only complaint is that the employees were trying SO hard to stick to the SDC script word for word (which is incredibly corny, by the way) that I felt like I was dealing with an automated phone system, but in person. I was on a 7 month plan but my teeth weren't matching the final results. I was sent for scanning to get refinements. The staff was not professional & didn't know what they were doing. They made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I waited over 2 months for my new set of aligners & when they finally came, they were the wrong size & did not match up with my teeth at all. Now I'm stuck in my M7 W3/4 set for 6 weeks now & have to wait until the 1st of September to be rescanned in Tampa because we are moving in a month & they can't get a new set to me by then. Beware! this company Would be a good idea if it kept its promises Straighter teeth for a lot less than the local orthodontist. The first two people I met were slick sales people, but I went with it, since I wanted straighter teeth. The first seven months were ok and my teeth are improved but not completely straight. I still have teeth sticking out, just not as far. I need additional aligners to finish the job. I was authorized to get rescanned and had the rescan done on May 10. The next sets of aligners were authorized on May 21. I have called repeatedly to find out where the aligners are. I was given the run around on every call. I finally had it when the customer relations person told me I would get a call back in seven to ten days. I contacted the Better Business Bureau. They have now offered a partial refund, but issued a higher than expected credit to an expired credit card issued by my Health Savings plan. The card is expired so I can't use any credit. The person who called also wanted me to pay $500 to get my order processed. This is beyond ridiculous. All I can say, is BEWARE! This company has outgrown its ability to fill its customer's needs. If they tell you four to six weeks, expect two months. Be sure to pay as you go instead of paying in full, like I did. read more

This company is a fraud and scam. I went for 3D scam and they gave me an ipad to choose whether I would pay lump sum or finance if I did treatment. I chose lump sum and signed. At the time, I directly asked Desire if I was agreeing to charges or treatment and she bold face lied and told me no. I told her I wasn't agreeing to pay or treatment until I got my treatment plan because if I didn't qualify for night treatment that I wasn't doing it. She assured me I was just choosing which payment option I would do, and that I would receive a treatment plan within 72 hours and if I agreed to the plan, I would get charged at that time. 2 days later, I haven't received a treatment plan, I got an email this morning saying my credit card had been billed a $250 down payment, then a couple hours later another email saying I'm set up on a payment plan with 20.98% interest rate. I would have never agreed to a payment plan because I DO NOT NEED A PAYMENT PLAN. Now I'm fighting to get all of this terminated and refunded. A complete fraud. They bold face lied to my face with answers to direct questions. Do not do business with SmileClubDirect. You will pay dearly. read more
