I decided to go anyway, and I'm really thankful I did. Every person I interacted with was gentle, kind, and patient. They picked up on my anxiety immediately, explained what was happening, and did little things like offering a blanket and checking on me that honestly made a huge difference. I was a first time patient coming in for a free consultation. I was told I needed a total deep root cleaning treatment the tune of $1200.00 before they would even clean my teeth. I not only didn't need that according to a better office in the area but charged $200 for booked free consultation since I declined the service. So, three of my family members have been coming in this dentist office for almost 2 years now and we had no problems with the doctor and stuff in the beginning, although we hardly see the doctor himself. So yesterday, we finally decided to find another dentist office due to the conflict we encountered with the stuff ( unprofessional). They told my husband that they will charge him $75 for a "No Show Fee" although my husband showed up, however, he was 18 minutes late. My husband asked them if they can wave the fee since it was our first time being late,and that he showed up (You can't call that a no show). The lady out front mentioned that it's the doctor's policy to hold the patient accountable. So I called and asked them politely if they can wave it since it was our first time being late, and explained to them that my husband was in the urgent care right next to their building and forgot to call them, and I get the same result. So my thing is: first, if they don't get to see us early or on time due to sometimes they under stuff, it is okay?, secondly, it would of been understandable if it was our second or third time being late (it wasn't), third, they are only nice and friendly to you when there's no problem and when conflict arises they don't know how to deal with the issue courteously (no consideration at all), lastly, I guess they don't understand that sometime things happen that you have no control. They'd rather loose three patient than waving the fee, I guess??! read more

I went to Smile Viera Dentistry as a new patient because my long time dentist recently retired. Here's what to expect at your first visit: You will have a thorough examination of your teeth, with X-RAYS of each individual tooth and a panorama X-RAY of all of your teeth, as well as close-up macro images taken of each tooth. You will then have to schedule a separate appointment to review their recommended treatment plan. Their recommendations to me included a re-root canal and $9,000 of additional fillings and crowns. I was shocked, because my old dentist always told me my teeth were fine. I started getting suspicious when my wife, who has beautiful, impeccable teeth, was told she needed $7,000 worth of work. I became incredibly suspicious when I found out the endodontist they work with was not in my insurance network. I asked for another reference and they got very defensive, saying that they only work with this one endodontist, and have for 15 years. When I told them that if my wife and I had all this work done it would wipe out our savings, they pointed me to financing options. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and was told, like my old dentist, my teeth were fine. Needless to say, I never went back to Smile Viera and am now a patient of this other dentist. Smile Viera does not take a conservative approach to dentistry but, rather, a very aggressive approach; every flaw, no matter how inconsequential, must be addressed and corrected from their point-of-view. From my experience with them, they seem to prioritize their bottom line over the needs of their patients. If you are okay with this approach, then Smile Viera may be for you. Loved my hygienist but it was always $$$ With them. Crowns, leaking old fillings ‍ Special cleaning On and got us to buy a special mouthwash. 16$ each. Wanted to do crowns crowns crowns !! Would have cost us 12000 Whaaaat!! No! My son left them too. They wanted to do special work on his teeth ‍ Oh and the magnifying scare . We fell for it once and each did 1 crown !!! And then they sent us a bill in feb for work done in previous year which cost us to lose 100$ from health first insurance They would not correct it They sure do want their money though !! read more

Incredibly cold staff. Never actually got to meet the dentist, but whoever answers the phones and/or in charge of scheduling simply does not care about anything other than making sure the schedule is full to the absolute maximum. I waited for an appointment for about 6 months. When it was my turn, I was 10 min late and when I got there I was turned away, I needed to be rescheduled. I am a teacher and I left school just in time to make my appointment, but I got stuck in some traffic (I did let them know I'm on my way). So OK, I was 10 min late.... I'm not saying this should be the norm, but come on, this is not exact science.... Has there EVER been a time that you arrive at a doctor's appointment and the staff opens the door and takes you right in with no wait?? Never happened to me in my entire life. Oh well, it is what it is. I have a family of 5 that had already started going to this office. They lost all of us! Not that they care... apparently it's all about efficiency and how many patients they can push through in a single day. When I tried to express my disappointment (talking on the phone with the same lady), and told her that I was thinking to cancel all outstanding appointments for the whole family, the response was as cold as ice. Just a plain "OK, bye bye"!!! Nothing else... Watch out for the "ICE lady", and make sure you are not late more than a few milliseconds after the time she gave you!! read more

They are a ripoff! Started going to them due to an insurance change. Prior to going to Smile Viera, I always had my teeth cleaned twice a year, without issues. Their whole process is shady. Dr came in with a magnifying camera prior to my cleaning and said I had six cavities. I was shocked because my prior dentist always complimented my teeth. I got suckered into allowing them to "do" 2 fillings. My husband went to his appointment a couple weeks after me and they were telling him he needs braces! He has the straightest teeth I have ever seen. After his visit my husband tells me to stop going there because we were growing suspicious of them. Long story short, I switch to another dentist. My first visit, the dentist is looking at my x-rays and he goes "wow, virgin teeth!" And Im like what does that mean? He's like "you never had work done on your teeth, means they are perfect no cavities or anything. Its a compliment!" I tell him, apparently I have 6 cavities and I had 2 filled. So I need 4 more filled, according to my previous dentist. He looks at me puzzled and he's like no, your x-rays say the opposite. He does a visual check of my mouth in person and goes, you got ripped off. So ya, rip off artists. read more

Where do I begin... Can I give a negative star? Dr. Dominic Roppa, his wife and colleague dentist run this office. My wife and I live in Viera but used a dentist in Palm Bay. After receiving weekly mailings we decided to try this new group. First my wife and I see the dentist every six months so we know our teeth. On our first visits we were told we had to have the deep cleaning. Never had this before and had to pay $295 each after insurance. Two weeks later I had a crown come off and it took me 5 days for an emergency visit! They have three dentist and their parking lot is almost empty all the time! I asked why it took so long to get an appointment and the woman on the phone said the dentists were having babysitting issues.... You don't see the dentist after your cleaning, you must come back for a "consultation" with him and his financial administrator. I came back and he told me I needed to have EVERY TOOTH CAPPED. I then was ushered to the financial administrator who wanted me to write a check for $30,000 or I could apply for a credit card for $39,000! Then my wife's turn, she was told she has a very bad tooth in the lower right back that needed removal immediately. We both left in distress and saw our old dentist. First I only needed one crown, just saved $38,000! Then our dentist took X-rays of my wife and stated she DID NOT HAVE A TOOTH THERE! Dr. Roppa and his gang of misfits are there to get as much money as they can at the expense of the patient. How can you report such a dangerous practice? People look at the other reviews and avoid this group like the plague! read more

After waiting over a month for an appointment I get a call the day before to say that my insurance will not pay for another pano X-ray and they will give me a "discounted " new patient rate of $99. They will NOT accept the previous pano from my last dentist. Well, stupidly I went and find out that the appointment for a cleaning as a new patient does not include the cleaning. That will be made after I am "evaluated". Long story short after the evaluation, my cleaning is deeper than normal (however all the same measurements as my last dentist had) and will require two more visits for Delta dent to cover it And by cover it, it will be an additional $322 for the "covered" cleaning. I wish I had read the reviews before going. I paid my $99, learned my lesson and left... Never in my life have I had to be evaluated before being given the cleaning. Despite getting ads and flyers in my mailbox a couple times a week soliciting new patients and specials, you can't get an appointment for a cleaning within 6 months. If you need to change the appointment you do get it's at least 6 months to get another. With all the hygienists they have in that office if they can't accommodate you within 2 months for a basic cleaning - then they already have too many clients. There's nothing that says you have to have the same person every time for a basic cleaning, yet they offer you no alternative. So you are treated like a herded animal. There are still some dentists out there who treat you as a person, their patient - and not as a number - this just isn't one of them. read more

Dr Roppa is a great dentist. I've been going to him for more than 10 years, he explains everything that needs to be done, if anything. You don't have to do everything he says, but yes, somethings are more important than others. The staff and hygienists have always been wonderful. Don't waste your time going to the screen dentists because all they are is out for money. Try Dr Roppa, you will be happy you did. read more

First, this has two stars only because the employees were very friendly. I came in for a new patient appointment fully expecting X-rays, exam, and cleaning, with no copay as I have had dental insurance as a spouse of an active duty military member for the past 19 years. I was brought back to the panoramic X-ray room first and before beginning was advised my portion of cost would be $78. This included a full set and a pano which most insurance will only pay for one or the other once every 3 years. I told the lady I didn't want both X-rays but was told they had to do them. I refused and was not seen. I have never been told I have to have a particular X-ray done in order to be seen, nor have had a cost out of pocket for a preventative visit. I ended up at Smile Viera because my old dentist was no longer in network. When I made the appointment, I asked if there would be a co-pay. They told me, "Our patient care coordinator will contact you if there's a co-pay..." so I asked again, if there would be a co-pay. I didn't get an answer. The day of my appointment, the entire office just felt weird. The care coordinator told me that they'd have to do both FMX and a pano, but that the insurance would only cover one. I asked why they needed a pano and they said, "Because the doctor requires it." I was then told that it was a $78 co-pay for the pano - this was a complete surprise. Getting the FMX taken was difficult. I've never had trouble taking dental x-rays before, but their equipment was larger and didn't fit in my mouth well. During the actual exam, the pano - which I paid $78 for - was not consulted at all. The dentist looked at my xrays and highlighted almost every single tooth for repair. I lost track, but it was close to 12-16 different fillings. I was in shock, as it had only been a year since I had been to a dentist. He also wanted to do two crowns. I mentioned that there was only one "watch area" from the previous dentist, and he said, "Well, I don't want to say they were a bad dentist, but I've been trained to see this....." I left the office in shock and called my old dentist. Asked what they would charge to take a second look and make sure this was really what was needed. After looking at my xrays, my old dentist told me that I did need 2 fillings, but not 16. And that the crowns can wait *10 years*. She said that there's no reason to rush into slicing up my mouth, and that if my existing fillings are working fine, we can leave them for now. I will never go back to Smile Viera. The whole experience was terrible, the atmosphere was scary, and the treatment plan laid out was very aggressive. I don't care how much more I have to pay to see my old "out of network" dentist, it's not nearly as bad as a $78 un-used pano and 16 fillings. Never, ever again. read more

Yes, the did suggest that I have some follow up work accomplished and they gave me a quote. The work wasn't needed immediately and priced out of my comfort area. Agree with other reviewers... Up to date on latest technology. I went to new patient appointment, it was going to be $78 for X-rays, photos of teeth, and dentist to examine. They don't clean your teeth this initial visit, they have "different levels" of cleaning and schedule this for a different day. I've never been to a dentist office that doesn't clean your teeth on the first visit. I walked out. Scheduled a visit at different dentist, I did not pay a dime for X-rays, cleaning, dentist to exam and all done in same appointment. Smile Viera will never get my business! read more

I relocated to the area and was looking for a new dentist in town. I researched a few websites and was very impressed with Smile Viera. I called and made an appointment and I was happy with how quickly they were able to schedule a new patient, the staff sounded very professional and friendly. When I arrived for my visit, I was told the cleaning was not going to happen that day, I had to take x-rays, have the gum test, and discuss what time of cleaning I needed. I have never had a cleaning broken up into 2 visits, but I went ahead with it. I spoke to a lady in the front office and asked 3 times if my insurance would pay 100% for all procedures performed that day. The visit was completed and I was told I had a balance of $58.70. Apparently, the lady I spoke with was not the normal billing/insurance lady at the clinic and informed me incorrectly. My insurance would only cover 1 type of x-ray but not both. However, it is the clinic's practice to take both. I was told I had to pay $78.00. Needless to pay I was not happy. Then, I was informed I needed a deep cleaning in all 4 quadrants of my mouth. I had never heard of this type of cleaning before. I was told it would cost $254.60 for the cleaning after insurance. After speaking with them, I was very scared since I was having some trouble with my teeth. I had no idea things had gotten that since I had been to the dentist within the past year?.... I scheduled the deep cleaning as directed as soon as I could to resolve the issue. I was able to get a fast appointment and had the deep cleaning. Not once in my deep cleaning appointment did the dentist come to peek in my mouth or check our process. The dental hygienist did everything. She was very nice and gentle, but I was surprised by this. After the cleaning, I was told that the dentist had time to review my x-rays and. The billing/insurance office lady was the person who showed me my cavities. At this point, I had met with the dentist during my first visit for about 1-2 minutes. Now an office representative without the same training was discussing my cavities. To my utter shock, I was told almost EVERY tooth in my mouth had a cavity on it. Next, I was given a variety of quotes for the work. Quotes that not only maxed out my insurance coverage for the year which is $2,000, but also would require $2063.40 out of pocket. This was to be scheduled over 4 visits, one per quadrant. I did not schedule because I felt something was going on with this clinic. I got to my car and cried because I was in a state of shock. Now I had to come up with $2,000 and sit in the dentist chair for hours to get every tooth drilled into?! Once I called down, I thought about this business and reviewed the facts. I had been to a dentist within the last year and had 1 cavity filled and was told I was fine. I contacted that office to collect a copy of my x-rays. Then, I talked to my parents, who are very close with their dentist in Titusville, FL. I scheduled a second opinion with that office. I collected my current X-rays from Smile Viera and took all of this information to my parent's dentist. Upon this second consultation, I was told I had 5 cavities. 2 were between teeth in the back and I was on the side of my mouth. I asked him to look carefully again and be sure. We ended up taking more x-rays and he confirmed that only the 5 needed to be worked on. I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I finally told him what the other dentist said about cavities and brought the quotes with me. He said "he wanted to drill on your front teeth even, which are perfectly healthy? Dentist's like this are disgusting". Needless to say I got my 5 cavities filled there and never returned to Smile Viera. This dentist is friendly and spends time with his patients and is available to answer questions. I have had no problems since. Looking back I am just disturbed that I almost gave that much money and time to Smile Viera. I don't understand how dentist's criteria for what constitutes a cavity could be so different. I could have filling marks on every tooth in the front right now. I am so happy I got a second opinion. I would be very cautious if you try this place of business because they are going to try to get as much money as they can out of you. Even if it means they have to recommend unnecessary procedures.... Be careful for who you select as your dentist. read more

Red flags from the start. Waited a month for my appointment as a new patient. Went to my appointment at the scheduled time and the whole place was shut down due to a software issue and I was informed I'd have to reschedule, so I did. Had to wait another month and a half (not sure why I didn't get bumped to the front of the line) for my appointment. When I arrived I was informed that I needed two xrays and one cost $99. I thought this was strange, but agreed. After I had the X-ray, I was told I'd be seen by a hygienist, but I needed to make another appointment to get my teeth cleaned and that they never cleaned on the first appointment.... what?! I waited 2 1/2mo not to get my teeth cleaned? Wish they told me that when I called the first time. Then to top it off, after waiting a half hour I was informed the dentist wouldn't see me because an "issue" came up. What?! I'm a new patient and the dentist didn't even want to see me? Talk about not valuing customers or their time. No thanks, going elsewhere, plenty of other dentists around the area. read more

For over a year and a half I attempted to get explanations on why charged amounts exceeded what the insurance company indicates they have agreed to accept according to their schedule. My attempts via talking to them, faxing, etc., were ignored. I finally went to the insurance company and asked them to do a review. I had a similar experience to others on Yelp that have written reviews. I had to change dentists after my dentist for the past 10 years was no longer in network. I was told had to pay the $78 for the panoramic X-Rays, then regular X-Rays, then I was seen for an initial exam by the dentist. He said I needed two crowns, several others that needed additional work, overall a total of 5 teeth with multiple crowns and new fillings. My total after insurance would be $3,000 (more on that in a moment). The hygienist examined me to see if I would need one or two visits for a cleaning (huh?) -- she said only one, that my teeth and gums looked good. I was skeptical of this treatment plan as I had just seen my previous dentist EIGHT MONTHS EARLIER so I scheduled a 2nd opinion with another local dentist. I took my X-Rays and treatment plan to the 2nd dentist and they (two dentists looked me over) said they wouldn't do any of the recommended fillings or crowns -- a couple of these were showing signs of a cavity but they would be a "watch" item vs. this much work (not even into the dentin yet). Needless to say I DID NOT go back to Smile Viera. As for my insurance coverage, they had already submitted the work in the time it took to find another dentist and the two crowns were declineda: "...a 'Dentist Advisor' has reviewed this claim. We encourage the treating dentist and the patient to discuss this determination." read more

One positive would be that they are up on new technology. However that's about it. I moved to FL and started with them and for the most part on anything other than minor work they bill you for items that the insurance company says they cannot. I've spoken to a couple of other people who had a similar experience. They had one person managing the practice and I gave the benefit of the doubt and attributed the overbilling to that person. I tried with the new person to no avail and got a completely BS answer (vs. what was plainly depicted on my insurance statement). The insurance company will do a review and when that is complete I may get one more cleaning until I find another dentist. It is hard to deal with people who conduct business in this manner. read more

I was concerned about some pain I had in my lower jaw near a tooth that anchors a bridge. I thought I might need a root canal. Since I am a snowbird and my regular dentist is in another state, I called and got an appointment for early in the afternoon that very day. I arrived on time, they were ready for me, took me in, did xrays and was happy to learn there was no problem. The cost I was charged was $126, well worth the cost of the relief and advice I got in finding out that everything was OK. We also discussed future treatment due to some issues that have developed over time. Two negatives are (1) the issue of perhaps not using my main dentist's xrays and them having to be repeated if I chose to follow through with any treatment Smile Viera might want to do, even cleanings. I don't want to repeat something that's up-to-date in another area and not have that transferred. And (2) The xray machine is in a storage area. Not the best atmosphere. Other than that, staff is great! read more

Today my wife and I had a dental appointment (Smile Viera, 5455 Murrell Rd # 108, Rockledge, FL); we have experience a few problematic bills over the past years. After a conversation with an office finance person and her phone conversation with another finance individual, I was hard-pressed to my limits when informed of a pass due bill of more than $300 from a year ago. I never received a bill nor could anyone explain or show justification for the bill, nor was I provided the opportunity to speak with management/Dr. about the deplorable billing process. To illustrate their bungling billing process, prior to my appointment I had a 10 - 15 minute conversation with the billing person about today's billing requirements and NEVER was there a mention of an outstanding balance until after service was rendered. The lack of attention to detail and unsubstantiated billing evidence from Smile Viera frustrates me to no end. I left the office with a SO WHAT/WHO CARES impression from the staff. read more

I came into Smile Viera to get a second opinion as I have teeth decay and only 5 teeth left on the top of my mouth. I got a coupon in the mail that stated they would pull your teeth for $99. And of course I thought I would be getting a partial denture on the bottom. The assistant was very kind but when the male doctor walked in he didn't say hardly anything to me. I suffer from anxiety disorder and I am very scared of dentists I was already very nervous and I told him about a tooth I thought would have to come out on the bottom of my mouth. He stated: "Trust me as soon as I look at your teeth I WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU WHAT IS WRONG". I guess he didn't like my comment about my tooth. I kind of froze up because anxiety is building at a major rate. He then just as a matter of fact told me that I had cavities in every tooth in my mouth!!! Just like that and I don't remember much after that. He will never have any idea what he did to me that day. I am disabled and literally cried for 2 days over how a human being can be so cruel to somebody else. I surely wasn't expecting that and it could have been told to me with much more compassion than he cared to share. By the way the $99 coupon is for one tooth only otherwise I think the coupon said like $398 per tooth. I can't wait to see the dental industry regulated for what they charge people. I believe in the Bible and it states, "What a man seweth so shall he reap". His reaping will come around I know. God is a good God and his promises are 100% real. I hope they take this as positive because you can't treat people like he treated me. I never went back. I am disabled so maybe that is why I was treated like I was.
