I went to check-in for my appointment only to know you have to be rescheduled after taking a long period of time filling-up the form on Ipad. It took me more than 35mins. Yes, they sent a text but they did not inform to submit it beforehand. Before that, I called to their office to confirm my appointment and didn't ask if I had filled-in the online questionnaire since I am a new patient. Could you imagine, you been rescheduled because of time consuming filling out the forms. This is my first time to encounter this kind of system. Other than that, they did not accept my latest x-ray from another dental clinic because they said it's unreadable and I have to pay out to my pocket for a new one. At first, they quoted me for $160 dollars plus change. Then the next time I called they told me to pay $300plus ( i just couldn't remember the exact amount) for an x-ray since my insurance won't covered because I just have a 2-month-old Xray. I was so disappointed that I have to wait for another one month for teeth cleaning. And before my teeth will be cleaned I have to start the process again for Xray and other stuff they might do. They prefer to have the questionnaires first before you as a patient. Sometimes it's all about $$$ and what insurance you have. It's a big deal to this kind of industry. I recommend sorting the reviews on Google by lowest score so you can see the trends with this office before you commit to an appointment. This office is very disorganized and waited until I arrived to verify my insurance benefits even though we spoke on the phone six hours prior when they confirmed the info. Once I arrived (early) they took 45 minutes to verify the insurance because they didn't know how to submit the info to MetLife to then tell me they don't have time for the appointment any longer because X-rays take 40 minutes and they need another 30 minutes for cleaning but they can reschedule four months out. X-rays don't take 40 minutes if your staff knows what they're doing and clearly they don't. This is one of those Walmart style dentist offices, like Aspen Dental, where they charge for excessive items like unnecessary fluoride treatments, cancer screenings and quarterly cleanings rather than focus on patient care from a professional dentist. If you have excellent teeth and healthy gums, the 45 minute drive to Gainesville or Newberry for a real dentist is worth it because this office will just waste your time anyway. read more

The office staff has absolutely no knowledge of insurance billing and they continue to break the Balance Billing Law. I came to my appointment early, which is what I usually do. The office reminded me of this appointment for a cleaning several times, which is fine with me. I understand that making an appointment is important. I take it seriously. After my arrival I sat in the chair. And, someone worked on my teeth for a very short time. And, she explained that the actual cleaning would be done by someone else. I saw nothing wrong with this. However, it started going south when the other employee told me that she could not fulfill the appointment because I needed a comprehensive exam before any cleaning could be done. Let me get this straight. Your office reminds me of the cleaning appointment. I show up on time. Now, you can't fulfill the appointment because something else should have been done first. Well, why did the office not inform me of this on the phone before I came to the appointment? Don't understand. I have been going to this office for the past few years. It seems to me that a comprehensive should have been done long before today. And, if there is a problem just let me know on the phone before coming to a needless appointment. My wife paid for a consultation for a wisdom tooth. She was sent out to an oral surgeon for the removal of the tooth. The surgeon said that removal could cause problems because of her age and the position of the nerve, and her jaw was very small. He sent her back to Smiles to have a different procedure. Upon returning to Smiles, the dentist that had sent her to the specialist left the practice, and Smiles said that we would have to pay for another consultation with another dentist. It is not my wife's fault that Smiles has a large turnover of dentists, and she should not have to pay for a service that she already paid for. I went for a consult as a new patient in September, found the staff to be very pleasant and professional. I was charged $53 at checkout even though I have Delta Dental PPO insurance. Today I confirmed with my insurance co that they had been billed and paid the $53. I have the date and check number. I find this very troubling. I had an appointment at 10:50 am. I arrived early and was taken in at the right time. I was having my teeth cleaned. I have been sitting in this chair for over and hour and 15 minutes. No one has come in since to see if I am dead or alive or if I need anything. I have never been treated this way in my life at any other dentist office. They sent me 9 to 12 notifications to be here. Even woke me up in am. To remind me to be here. I have now waited 1 hr. 30 min. And she just walked in apologizing. Her work on me was okay. While aI was waiting they turned on the tv. DO NOT RECOMMEND! I have been to this office previously (2020) and had a great experience so once my dental insurance was reinstated, I decided to return. This go around with the office has been horrible!!! My experience day of however was great. The techs do such a great job. It's a pity their management is lacking which is why I do not recommend this office. They clearly did not run my insurance prior to scheduling my appointment or they would have noticed there is 1 dentist that is contracted with my insurance as insurance do not contract with an office but physicians specifically (I've worked in the medical field for several years and know very well how this works). Once I received a bill for what my insurance was supposed to pay, I contacted the office. I was told someone from billing would give me a call. A few days later, someone from billing called in which I told them the situation and was told that she would let the office manager know what was going on and they would give me a call back to discuss. 8 days passed with no phone call and my bill is getting closer to being overdue, so I call back the office and spoke with a very nice gentleman who told me that the office manager was in a meeting this morning, he would send a high priory message over and I should receive a phone call back that same day. That was 3 days ago and still no phone call. Absolutely horrible customer service from the management team and clearly a lack of insurance verification prior to a scheduling patients. Unless you like paying for dental insurance that won't be utilized, I suggest you find another office. read more

I, definitely, do not recommend this place! I went for the first time and got the new patient package which included x rays and a cleaning. The tech was a very nice young man but you could tell, was very inexperienced. When he cleaned my teeth, he never used the scraping tool and left stains on my teeth and within a month, the staining got bad enough that I called my old dentist, from when I lived elsewhere and got in for a cleaning to get rid of the stains. The Dentist, at Smiles, said I needed fillings done and tried to sell me Invisalign (My teeth are pretty straight and I've never even needed braces) and said I needed to have a night guard. I have good teeth! All this would total about 15k. They also sold me a package, called Vantage, that would give me a 10% discount for my services for a year. Since the work I "needed" would total enough to make the discount worth it, I bought it. When I saw my previous Dentist, he looked at my teeth and my x rays and said that I did not need to have any work done and my teeth were fine just the way they were. This place is just a selling scam and wants to do fillings when not needed and try to sell you anything and everything! STAY AWAY! I called and asked to speak to a manager (which of course wasn't there) and when I explained that my previous dentist told me I did not need work and they should refund the Vantage plan, the receptionist was of no assistance. One of the dentists didn't recognize that the blue areas on the sides of my lips were actually veins and sent me to a dermatologist who laughed and said this dentist doesn't know her anatomy! Also, they billed for services that were free under my Humana, because they didn't tell me that they dropped Humana as a provider after accepting them several previous times before! This is what happens when corporations take over dental practices. They also make a hard for additional services that you don't need. Avoid this place like the plague!!!! This is a corporation run business which means they're going to try to tell you you're going to need all kinds of unnecessary treatments. they're really good about making issues seem much much worse than what they actually are in order to use their scare tactics into getting you to pay for " necessary treatments" my regular dentist unfortunatly dropped my dental insurance, so I came here for my cleaning, mind you I have been seeing a dentist regularly for the past 12 years with no issues. aside from a crown, and have gotten cleanings every 6 months. During my exam prior to cleaning the hygienist starts to tell me that my gums are infected and they need to give me 10 antibiotic injections! And also that a crown that I recently had put on was not put on correctly and needed to be replaced "as soon as possible" They then proceeded to tell me that in order to get my teeth cleaned I need to give them over $500!! I walked out. I went back to my previous dentist with all the recommended procedures and diagnosis. that this dentist and hygienist insisted that I needed. And asked him to recheck the crown that he put on. Needless to say I was educated on how this place operates, and how they use scare tactics to get you to pay for services that aren't needed, which in turn lines their pocket. My previous dentist actually give me periodontal scan and X-rays just to prove that I am not in need of any of these services. He also rechecked and x-rayed the crown (it was absolutely sealed with zero issues) And he gave them to me free. And he also set me up at a colleague's office that will take my insurance. The staff seems to know teeth but they do push for certain treatments weather you want them or not. Luckily, they said since my teeth look good they will not give the extra stuff. However, the wait time at this establishment is not good. You have an appointment be prepared to wait for 45 minutes after your scheduled time to go to the back room where you then wait another 20 minutes. We have gone now 3 times and each time has been waiting and waiting. I understand that a small town has some wait time, but an hour of waiting? This is not good. 3 chances and they all disappointed. I don't recommend this dentist. I recently relocated and I made an appointment for a cleaning. They proceeded to do 2 hours of services such as a full set of xrays, etc without consulting me or asking when the last time routine screening was done. Nor did they check with my insurance to see what they would cover. The only thing discussed with me was $45 for a fluoride treatment which I agreed to and paid and a crown which I denied (dentist said it had a fracture, but the picture did not show it). They later bill me for $91 for the services the insurance would not pay for. For example, they did a full set of xrays, but the insurance only covers this every 5years and I wasn't due. read more

I went to this office in need of a root canal which by the time I was done cost a couple thousand dollars . Before I left the office I told the nurse that I still feel pain in the tooth. The nurse informed me that sometimes you have to wait a month for the soreness to dissipate. I waited one month and still the pain was there In the tooth that I had the root canal done too. The doctor did offer to redo the root canal for free. Which naturally I accepted the offer. And still there is pain and the same tooth. Now two months gone by . I do not think that they know what they're doing and I really do not want to do a third round. I will say that the doctor and the staff are very friendly. My first time as a new patient and hands down this was the best experience I've ever had at the dentist. From the moment I walked in the door the receptionist greeted me as if I've been coming there for years and immediately made me feel at ease. The entire facility was immaculately clean and comfortable with all of the state of the art dental equipment and a few things I've never even seen before almost futuristic. The staff was more then accommodating in my situation and went well over and above to help me in repairing a lost filling as well as addressing several other areas to put a smile back on my face. My husband has gone to this dentist twice as it's close to our home. I decided to transfer from my dentist due to the location and extended hours. I called for an appointment and the wait was 2 months. Also told them I was pregnant so I would only need a cleaning. They assured this wasn't a problem. Finally my appointment arrives but they call the day before asking me to shift the time to one hour earlier. No problem. I arrive on time for my appointment but I end in the waiting room for 40 minutes. Finally I'm called back they insist on doing xrays. I decline because I'm pregnant. They have me stand in the hall and have a conversation with the dentist on duty 25 feet away. I see them having the conversation but the dentist never attempts to speak with me. The hygienist and office staff member return and tell me unless I have xrays performed they will not perform any other services. I try to explain the risk associated with the xrays and the fetus and their response is I just need to wait then for dental care until after the baby is born in September. Mind you there was no medical privacy during this discussion. I will definitely not be returning due to the lack of consideration for attempting to be my unborn child at risk. read more
