UPDATE - My previous review (like many others) was incentivized - aka I got a discount if I wrote a positive review, so I'd like to provide an update 8 years later. Now that they've added more dentists, one of the dentist did a procedure that had to be repaired and cost me thousands of dollars because the first dentist did such a bad job. The same thing happened to my mom. So they rapidly expanding and hiring dentists that are not as good as before. Office is nice and clean. Your care depends on your dentist. Oh and when I was getting my procedure repaired for the second time, the dentist was in a big rush. I only go here bc of the location, and it's clean; but it's not a pleasant experience because of inconsistent care and impatient dentists. read more

After being there for 75 minutes all they did was some exays, dentist looked at my teeth, then the upsell. Told me I need a deep cleaning and refused to do anything else. Finally found an awesome dentist. This place is neat and tidy. Carly, who sits in the front is very nice and informative. Dr. Tan treated me very well and gave his honest opinion about my teeth health, which is rare to find nowadays. Who knew visiting the dentist could be so enjoyable? From start to finish, a 5 star experience. I had the pleasure of getting my teeth X-rayed and cleaned by Dr. Tan with assistance from Daniella. Daniella made sure I was as comfortable as I could be and her warm demeanor made my experience all the more enjoyable. Dr. Tan is very talented and friendly, and I appreciate how he explained my X-rays, ensuring I understood everything I was seeing. The office, the staff, and the doctor are all phenomenal. I do not easily leave five star reviews for medical or dental professionals - too often they fall short of my expectations. But Smiles at Telfair is an exception. I should mention that I've been to about seven different dentists in the Houston and Sugar Land area. Overall, I do believe this is my favorite office. That says a lot--especially considering that I make it a point to visit offices with consistently high ratings. Dr. Insiya Hussain is meticulous, thorough, and far-sighted in her dental vision. The quality of her dental work is excellent; her hands as a dentist are highly skilled. I've gotten numerous fillings, and I genuinely cannot tell you where they are, because they feel so much a part of my natural teeth. Dr. Hussain's competence can also be verified if you take a look at her credentials - she is a graduate of Rice University, which says a lot about her dedication as a person, but furthermore, she is a graduate of UT Dental, which is one of the top dental schools in the South. In the acquisition of her DDS, you may rest assured that she has been highly trained. The doctor is also very friendly, easy to talk to, and down to earth. She isn't the type to pressure you into doing things you are uncomfortable with, or making you feel guilty about passing any treatments that have been recommended to you. She is respectful and lets you have your space, without failing to provide a full picture of your dental health and the treatments she would recommend in your situation. She also listens to your feedback and meaningfully incorporates it into treatment. For instance, I delayed extracting my wisdom teeth. Though she let me know of her recommendation to extract them in the near future, I wasn't met with excessive pressure or coercing. They were also respectful about letting me choose my own oral surgeon, though they do provide one in house. With this quality, you would expect that their prices would be quite high. However, their prices are on the lower end of normal; they are very affordable. This is quite surprising when you consider the excellence of service, expensiveness of the general area, and consider price comparisons with dentists in the vicinity. Lastly (but not leastly!) I would like to give a shout-out to Marcy, the caring, committed receptionist who has shown incredible competence and capability in the years I've known the office. She has single-handedly met every request I threw her away with speed and accuracy, has answered my numerous and difficult questions in timely and responsible ways, and throughout it all has maintained the utmost friendliness with substance I can only assume is genuine. I can only wish that receptionists the world over were like her, and I appreciate her impressive diligence to no end. I do not consider the decor etc of the office as important as the doctor's skill and the staff's competence, but just as a plus, they do have a lovely office, great decor, lots of natural sunlight, complimentary drinks in the waiting room, etc. etc. The aura is a comforting one. read more

I would honestly say that Smiles at Telfair provided me with a superb and outstanding experience. For months one of my teeth was sensitive and I would feel a shooting pain whenever chewing food on that side of my mouth. Dr. Hussain took the time to determine exactly what the issue was and provided me with the treatment for it. I currently have no sensitivity in that tooth anymore. I also went to the office during the first visit for a cleaning. Sara took 45 minutes to meticulously clean my teeth carefully and provided me with an excellent service. Overall I would highly recommend visiting Smiles at Telfair for a dental cleaning or consulting them for any dental issues. The only drawback I found is that with the volume of patients that they have there is a lot of waiting once you are in the examination room. During my first visit she dealt with me for ten minutes walked out and I waited for twenty. Then again ten and wait twenty. One more time ten then twenty. During my second visit she dealt with me for ten then a half an hour wait and finally the last ten minutes to finish my appointment. She doesn't come see you, start and finish your appointment in one go. You will have to wait. In the end though if you have the time it is fully worth it and I would highly recommend seeing her. read more

Dr. Hussain and her staff made my visit very pleasant. I needed some work done and from the first step of making an appointment until treatment was completed, everything went flawlessly well. The office environment is very calming and the interior is very clean - which reflects very positively on everyone working there. I got constant reminders regarding my appointment date and time - which was essential, given my busy schedule, Upon arrival, the paperwork was quick and waiting time was very minimal before I was seated in the dental chair. Dr. Insiya was very attentive and had patience to answer all of my questions. It was my first time at the clinic for cleaning, exam and fluoride. The patient experience is beyond satisfaction. From front desk, which is Marcy to the assistant Carli to the doctor, everyone is very professional. This is the first time I also never had to wait. They are on time and respect your time. I work office hours and they helped me get a late afternoon appointment which is great. I would highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Insiya to anyone in the area looking for dental treatment. Have scheduled more appointments for all the work I need. I can trust them from my first visit itself. Best dentist in Sugar Land, no question. Seldom do I so strongly recommend a dentist, because I fundamentally do not enjoy going to a dentist. But there are so many things that make this location different than any of the prior experiences I've had. First, Dr. Hussein is very talented. She's clearly very smart, and I say this myself as a cardiologist because It takes a special kind of healthcare provider to be insightful about their patients lifestyle habits. Admittedly, the minute she saw my x-ray she was able to identify dare I say, certain deficiencies in my dental hygiene that were absolutely spot on. Then she went to work with the cleaning. This is the second point that sets her apart from all other dentists. Without delegating this responsibility to a dental hygienist, Dr. Hussain herself takes care of this directly. And boy is she a perfectionist. Like an artist at work, She meticulously spent all the time she need to work on each and everyone of my teeth. The final product was better teeth than I've ever had as far as I can remember. Lastly, many dentists get bad reviews because some patients see them as people who always try to do the most invasive thing for the sake of making a quick buck. This is where Dr. Hussain is also starkly different. She was absolutely honest about which of my teeth needed work, and which ones we could just watch. I had fillings done on several of my teeth, and she did so painlessly, professionally, and did an exceptionally great job. Overall, I have no hesitation whatsoever of recommending her to anyone on yelp, or anyone else I meet. I will certainly not be leaving her Unless I have to move out of Sugar Land itself. Where do I even start. I haven't been to the dentist in yearssss and my teeth showed it! I know most people don't want to admit that but I'm here to tell you Dr. Tan is working miracles on my teeth! Today was my second visit and it was just as satisfying as the first! Who would think going to the dentist could be enjoyable. For a long time I have been insecure about my cavities, especially being on the outside of one of my tooth, but Dr. Tan came in with a treatment plan that is fighting through all of this plaque, tartar, and cavity build up. Today was my first visit to Smiles at Telfair. I had a really pleasant experience with Dr. Tan. I was concerned about two teeth as I had a baby in the last several months and hadn't had a cleaning in over a year! I was also having sensitivity that I assumed was probably a cavity. After a thorough set of x-rays and an evaluation by Dr. Tan, I was informed that I was cavity-free but I grind my teeth which was actually causing the sensitivity. My mind was immediately put at ease and I was given practical solutions to my problem. The cleaning itself was done by Dr. Tan and let me just say I had no pain. I usually experience a lot of pain/sensitivity from the tools hitting my nerves but this time I didn't. He is extremely gentle and thorough. Clean and modern facility. They provide free water, coffee, and a tv in the waiting room. Dr. Hussain is extremely caring and seemed genuinely concerned with my well being throughout the visit. She's equipped with a friendly staff and from what I can tell, the most modern equipment. Teeth cleaning used to be really labor intensive at other places I've used but it seems to go by faster here because the equipment is the latest and greatest. In addition to the amazing service at this location, they utilize the latest technology in appointment scheduling and cancellation which is a big plus in my book. Now I just have to hope the rest of my doctors start to catch on and start to utilize the newest technology out there. read more

This place is really amazing. All the staffs are super helpful and friendly, and Dr. Hussain is extremely gentle and caring. She pays attention to the details, always spend the extra time and care to ensure the procedure is thorough, and she's always really concerned for her patient. During my cleaning/filling sessions she constantly asks whether I'm feeling discomfort. She's also very knowledgeable and very earnest. Her number one priority is always to make sure the patients are happy with the result and not just for the sole purpose of making money. No one actually likes going to the dentist, however I will definitely be back to Smiles at Telfair as long as Dr. Insiya Hussain is the dentist here! The staff was very pleasant and the office is super clean and modern. The wait was also short, and I felt like Dr. Hussain was transparent, honest, and gave me full attention throughout my exam and cleaning. She also pointed out some leaks in 3 of my fillings and recommended I refill them, but I never felt pressured by her or the staff. I decided to go ahead and refill those 3 fillings on the same day as my cleaning anyway to save the trouble late.
