Smith & Associates completed my federal return but never filed it which I didn't find out until the following year when I was contacted by the IRS. When I requested to have it refiled, I was told that it would be, but was again contacted by the IRS because they didn't receive it. A third call to the office about the issue was treated with annoyance and an abrupt "we'll mail it again." The office also failed to include appropriate tax foms with my state return, delaying the refund and requiring me to send paperwork in that should have been incuded originally. If you want an accountant who can't file a proper return, won't return your phone calls in anything approaching a timely manner and gets irritated with questions, then Smith & Associates is for you. If you want an accountant who can file a return correctly the first time, returns your calls and acts like they care about your business, then go somewhere else. read more

Smith Associates also FAILED TO FILE our Federal Tax Return!. They completed the Return - BUT then failed to mail it in to the IRS like they were supposed to. It's kind of important to file it with the IRS - you can't do half of a job and charge for the whole job. So, we also find out months later that they never filed it. And when you call them you usually only get an answering machine. Once I got a person who said they would get back to me before the end of the day. It's been 3 days and no return call, even though I called them back again and left a second message. So now they are not following up and fixing their mistake. How can you advertise that you are a Tax Preparer but don't complete the job and file client's Returns with the IRS? read more
