When I first hired Mr. Kakoian, he appeared attentive and professional--quick to respond, eager to get started, and prompt in collecting his retainer. Unfortunately, that level of responsiveness changed shortly after signing the agreement. Over time, I felt that meaningful progress on my case stalled while billing continued. Communication dropped off significantly, and I had to follow up repeatedly just to receive basic updates. At times, I genuinely questioned whether any substantive work was being done on my file. Frustrated by the lack of progress and his practice, I filed a complaint with the California State Bar and submitted documentation outlining what I believed was serious mismanagement. If you're working with Mr. Kakoian and feel something isn't right, I strongly encourage you to advocate for yourself. The State Bar exists to protect clients and hold attorneys accountable.
