If I could go back in time and choose a different company, I absolutely would. Things started out really well. The salesman was polite and easy to work with. Unfortunately, he made promises that the company did not keep. He promised that they would cover my plants so that they weren't damaged in the construction. Once the crew arrived, they told me that they couldn't do that. He also quoted this as a 2-week job. It took over 100 days. This is due, in part, to the fact that they would ghost me for weeks at a time--no calls, texts, emails until I got frustrated wondering when they might return and would call the office. We had siding, windows, the front door, and gutters replaced. This was done by 3 separate crews. The siding crew was very messy, leaving water bottles and take out containers all over the yard. They never cleaned up their nails and debris, so we ended up having to clean the yard ourselves after they left, despite the fact that the contract clearly states that they leave a clean yard. We had a number of problems throughout the project. The door they ordered opened on the wrong side, so they had to reorder it. When it arrived they painted it the wrong color and had to repaint it. They also got paint all over the hardware and had to replace that. They installed the window over the front door incorrectly and tried to hide it by using a lot of spray foam filler. They started wrapping the house beautifully and then got lazy and didn't overlap or tape the wrapping. They did not remove the soffit board before installing the vented soffit panels. We repeatedly asked them to go back and fix this, and finally the owner of the company told us that they would not be doing that. They removed the railing from our back porch and when they reinstalled it they damaged the boards and rigged up a connection that had screws bridging a gap between the railing and the wall (the wood was not touching the wall). They ordered the wrong size light box for our patio lights and insisted that they were correct, even though we could see the wiring behind them. All of these problems they fixed when we asked them to (with the exception of the soffit board). Then the owner of the company came to the house to discuss the remaining issues, and he told me that I was being "nitpicky" by asking them to remove a glob of silicone caulk from the front window. He proceeded to mock me for asking why the door hardware wasn't removed to paint the door. When I asked him to leave, he stood on my porch and said to his coworkers, "I'm glad I recorded that" (he had been recording our conversation on his phone and was, I guess, proud of the way that he spoke to a customer in her own home). They also used a metal scraper to clean the glass in the back doors (which were not part of the project) and scratched the glass on both of them. We asked them to pay the amount that it would cost us to have them replaced and have the exterior re-wrapped, but they offered to pay an amount that was less than the estimate we got to replace them, so now we are having to file an insurance claim to get the doors replaced. Does the final product look good? It does. But the process to get to this point was excruciating, and I had to continuously ask them to fix the shortcuts that they were taking. If this had been cheap, I would have shrugged it off and said that we got what we paid for, but this job was almost $70,000, so I felt like it should be done well and right (and that there shouldn't be messy silicone blobs on the front window--which they never did remove). read more

Jordan was very professional and helpful when he came out to look at a roof leak. He was able to fix it that same day and provided us with before and after videos of the repair. We had received quotes from a couple of other roofing companies, but Smith Roofing's cost was significantly lower. I did not have a great experience with Smith. Had them rebuild a deck. They stated it would take 5 days and they could start in 2 months. They started many months later and it did take 5 days. Just 5 days spread over several weeks. I am satisfied with deck however the communication and customer service was poor and the over-all process very frustrating. We had a complicated full exterior remodeling project that we were having a hard time finding any competent contractors that wanted to do anything other than quick one day roof replacements. Our project consisted of full siding, roofing, windows, gutters. Unfortunately, the house was an inherited and had a lot of deferred maintenance as well as rot. Honestly, it was not a project that was for the faint of heart. I can't speak highly enough of this team and how they are able to get difficult projects done in a timely manner within budget. It was a bad experience when Smith's Roofing replaced our shingles and underlayment. The number of problems is far to great to list in a review and the point of a review is to aid future customers so here is a couple tips. Know the written agreement is not worth anything to the work crew. If you pay for extra services you only get them if the work crew feels like doing it. That in mind it would be best to only do the bare bones roof and to have it in the contract that any work not done has to be refunded to you for labor and materials. I don't have any tips on stopping the add on charges other than watch and complain. Good luck. read more

I had previously worked with Timothy Kneller in a previous position and discovered he is now with Smith Roofing. Timothy and Josh Wallace came out to my house to take a look at my gutters. I was interested in a gutter protection system. They took a good amount of time to really look at everything from the top of my roof, to gutters all around the house, took pictures and noted where they saw issues. Then they explained in great detail what they found and their recommendations. They are both very detailed and professional. We reviewed pricing and I decided to move forward with the project of getting new gutters AND a protection system. They also made some future recommendations to make my roof last longer and I'll be proceeding with that in the future. I trust them which is of utmost importance to me.
