One room is early works including Captain Cook and the early explorers, then rooms of Victorian eminent persons up to our most recent icons. Afterwards visit the cafe and shop which are both excellent and admire the good modern architecture of the gallery.

Skip it all together and head to Dobinson's instead on the ground floor. There's paid parking, but at least it's fairly cheap. At the end of the day it's a shopping centre, and in Australia they usually don't get too excited. It's not as sterile and intimidating as some fancier shopping centres, and you could definitely do a lot worse.

On the other hand, the waiter kept changing the time he wanted us out. We arrived at 4 pm and planned to be there for a few hours. Initially, he said we could stay until 7:30 which was totally fine. A half hour later, he said 7:15, then at 6:30 he said he was needing the table in the next 15 minutes. There was no recognition that he kept shifting the times, so I can only surmise that he was just misremembering what he had told us. He also forgot one of our orders too. And no, it wasn't too crowded, so I can't even give him an out for being busy. So, come for the games, but don't expect exceptional food or service.
